I think as it opens with after 3 unforgettable years in British speedway & closes with once a witch always a witch it’s pretty conclusive. cowboy cookie returns?
No Emil is a massive loss not only to Ipswich but British speedway in general. However I don’t think it’s a massive surprise. Emil has been nothing but pure class these past 3 years & I feel really privileged to have been able to watch him week in week out for the past 3 seasons. I’d like to think that we may not have seen the last of him on the heath.

From a lay person's point of view does this tell us anything about the league set ups next year or am I reading too much into it?

From a lay person's point of view does this tell us anything about the league set ups next year or am I reading too much into it? I don’t think so at this stage. He came he to win trophies & has for filled what he & the club set out to achieve. I had a hunch that this season was very much about unfinished business for Emil & that it would be his last. He is a rider who likes to be well organised in advance so I think it possibly hints at the uncertainty that is going on behind the scenes in uk speedway. If the state of play for uk speedway was settled could Louis have offered him another deal? I suspect he could have & possibly Emil would have agreed. Currently I don’t believe that uk speedway is in the position where Louis could have offered Emil a deal to allow Emil to make plans for 26. Having said that honestly I believe it’s a case of job done & it’s a great time for this chapter to close. Clearly these is a massive mount of mutual respect between club & rider. It’s been a great journey & one thing is for certain Emil is a true Ipswich legend!

WookieboyDon
Bewley being at Ipswich next season is as likely as Emil being there. Peter Shroeck went down that route of pursuing something that was never going to happen and paid the price…

OldHawk
The loss to Ipswich and British speedway cannot be underestimated. It is a disaster of epic proportions. Hackney never recovered from their massive 1988 season as riders left in the few seasons that followed and so did the crowds. Ipswich attendance will undoubtably be down as a result. As for British speedway, there are now not enough teams for 2 leagues and not enough riders for one league so god knows what will happen next but with the loss of one of a world class rider such as Emil is a hammer blow. I fear for the future, i really do.

TTT
Think a lot of overreaction has taken place after the Emil news in regards to the strength of British Speedway in 2026. Last night's news was just confirmation of what most of us expected imo.

It's what a lot of people like to do... go and look at the Scunny thread about the announcement of an announcement and a lot were saying Scunny were going NDL... until Picko signed and now they're nailed on Champions 😂
