Not sure he would chase the money and seems to understand the importance of being at a well run and supportive club. Is that why he wants to leave Ipswich? cowboy cookie returns?
If Thompson does go it’s possibly the right time to be honest. He has been a real Trump card for us but could possibly struggle a little in the main body of the team with little chance of dropping back down. It’s true he had issues at home after his injury but up until that point had been on fire. Like Rew I’m sure the parting of the ways will be amicable to allow a return in the future.

Personally I don't think Dan would struggle at all in the top 5, but would have more scope to improve his average at Leicester where he always seems to do well. So he shouldn't get it again. Don't know if that's the case, can see an argument either way. For example it'd be unfair on a rider like Kemp who averages just over 4 & struggles to get a team, but Jenkins drops below 4, gets a guaranteed RS spot, then gets another big reduction. But the downside of allowing it only once, is a young Brit gaining an artificially high average & missing out next year, not the plan behind the RS system. I had previously thought, what if once a rider drops out of the RS system his average reduction goes down in stages? 1st year 20%, 2nd year 15%, then 10%, to a final 5% reduction. Raise the reduction for all Brits from 2.5% to 5%?

Aries Posted yesterday at 06:32 AM Report Share Posted yesterday at 06:32 AM (edited) Noticed in today’s Speedway Star that Tru7’s recent two year deal with Sheffield has expired and Guy won’t be renewing it. He’s now focusing solely on the Witches. Edited yesterday at 06:44 AM by Aries
