Could Ipswich host a GP in the future with Mayfield being the promoter of both the club and series?

They should definitely try and put on a big meeting. If they could get permission maybe over two days at a weekend. Bags of space could have a weekend festival of speedway with food stalls live music etc

The SGB website announcement referred to Richard Coleman as just "Coleman"!

Is there some animosity between him and BSPL ?

Well if their wasn’t their probably is now after the latest statement.

I seem to remember 20 years ago the then promoters of the Speedway Grand Prix bought into Reading. They renamed them the Bulldogs, threw shed loads of money on riders and didn't even win the league. The whole business model was unsustainable and a year later is all went boom.  I hope for you Witches fans (assuming they will still be called that) history does not repeat itself.

Why would it? No offence intended and you’re not the first person to allude to this, but we’re talking completely different companies with completely different personnel.

I’d like to think it would be different but Belle Vue have tried for decades with Adrian being the last of many from Manchester. Self interest, with Louis being an example of that, have stifled the sport enormously. We just do our own thing now whilst things crumble around us.

Weird that Ipswich are just referring to their new owner just as "Coleman" without his first name.

The statement revealing the new owner on the Ipswich website doesn't use his first name

https://ipswichwitches.co/mayfield-acquires-british-speedway-champions-ipswich/

And the statement that the new Ipswich promotion have sent to the BSPL again also only uses his surname.

It's only in his open letter to Ipswich fans that he reveals his first name!

Despite the teething problems with the new promoters' press release, I'm not going to be critical.  The BSPL promoters I have spoken to recently seem welcoming of Richard Coleman and think he'll be an asset to British Speedway.  Hope they're correct.

They have all been in it together...

All are just as culpable as each other, for the situation the sport finds itself in...

Making up some Mickey Mouse rules as they go along, all knowing that, one day, they may need to use any particular one of them, themselves.....

In the interest of Speedway, obviously.....

Adrian Smith, like a fair few before, got out bewildered by, and with, so many who are still within the sport...

It will be very much rinse and repeat until the inevitable happens...

Thorssell riding in Klindt's testimonial.

Can we read anything into that?

Not really. He agreed to do that quite a while ago. Any collapse in negotiations to ride over here wouldn’t affect his commitment to ride for Klindt in his testimonial. Be interesting to see how he gets on though.

As I've mentioned many times Sudden Sam got one of his best ever results that year he was basically employed as a motivator for the riders when they were in the pits and was on about 70-80k for the privaledge probably 130-140k now that's not a dig at Sam I bet he thought this is going to like getting paid for falling off a log , but goes to show from the new owners point of view how money was p-ssed up the wall.
