Sheffield Tigers 2026

Recommended Posts

Along with All The Young Dudes, despite his guitar being 'electric junk' following his Memphis trip.  I'm not that old but I recently got into Mott The Hoople along with Uriah Heep, Nazareth & Jethro Tull.  Anyway speedway then, still no firm news re: 2026 I take it....

Wonder if AB Race Cruisers / AutoCraft will move up as main sponsors as been secondary on the fork covers for a couple of seasons now

More likely they would be the club owners than Team Sponsors but could do both as very successful business men who are expanding into new markets like offering deluxe yacht charters out of Marbella, Purchasing an aircraft for hire

Sounds like they have the type of deep pockets required Flagrag.

Sounds like a drug cartel operation!

Is the STARRS meeting still on tomorrow, does anyone know?

Taken from the Sheffield site, posted about 30 mins ago . . .

🌠🗣️

THE first STAARS event of the winter takes place at the New Barrack Tavern on Thursday night (November 20, 7.30pm start).

Outgoing promoter Peter Mole will join host Richard Gilson in the first half of the night to recall his highs and lows from his time with the Owlerton outfit.

There will be a ‘2025 Season Recap quiz’ in the second part of the night and whilst the club are still not in a position to make any major announcement, Press Officer Ryan Guest will be on hand to provide an update on the future of Sheffield Speedway.

I was told end of last week by another Championship promoter that Sheffield had asked to move back to Championship in 2026, but this week that request had been turned down.  Not sure where the club stands now as with no TV money (c£60k pa) and TruPlant sponsorship ending (c£20k pa) that’s a big hole to fill to have funds to pay for Premiership wages

If a prospective purchaser wanted to run championship but was told they couldn't surely they'd simply pull out?

Also if an extra club wanted to join the Championship  it would undoubtedly mean a change to the agreed 40point limit!

Turned down by the Championship clubs?

I think all the clubs would have an equal vote, but I don't know how many need to vote for/against it to accept/reject a request.

Seems harsh if they are losing their promoter and main sponsor but allowing Sheffield to move to Championship would surely have ended any chance of saving the Premiership.

I think that without the TV money and sponsorship now lost I personally don't see Sheffield running next season.

And I think if they are gone I think that will be us gone forever.

I think the idea that they would run in the PL and also then "divvy up" 20% of the losses of a 6th club is absolute madness.

Maybe new owners might see that proposition differently but....

For the sake of Sheffield, and keeping them going I think that additional burden shouldn't be imposed on the new owners. If indeed new owners can be found. I can't imagine much, if any of that missing 80k quoted (60k TV % 20k sponsorship) was pure profit.

What an absolute mess the Premiership is in

Didn't Mr Bates state that the club was in a good stable position for any new owner, and his reason for stepping away was the pressure of other work away from speedway?

If they are all in it together, and as is obviously proven keeping the 2 tier structure benefits all, then any financial compensation should surely be split across ALL clubs

Not necessarily as a straight split but ALL are responsible in some way

Isn't Sheffield restricted to Thursdays only?

I seem to remember they changed to Sunday for a while but changed it back quite quickly....

Thursday would mean Premiership only wouldn't it?

Unless it went to one league...
