Question is who next ? I see Hugh Edwards is making a making a comeback, could he be the next high profile person to reveal his long time love of speedway, it’s hard to believe speedway is in the state it’s in with all these folk declaring they were secret speedway fans all along

Wrong forum for him but if he did join this forum he could come on as Gareth Nutley or Arthur Rogers....

Maybe but another self appointed character and that is what speedway futures is all about, get a deal of some company and keep the finders fee for themselves, yes that is business but speedway isn’t theirs to market, they haven’t paid for it, they have just took it and started a new company

Playing devil's advocate

You could say that those that have been pumping money in to try to maintain top level, true professional level, speedway with supposed huge annual losses have paid for it, so it is theirs to market and they haven't just taken it......

In the original press release re Harry Redknapp it included that

'Speedway Futures Ltd was set up in 2024 and became the commercial and media rights holders of British Speedway, with the specific objective of attracting long term commercial investment to develop the sport in the UK.'

So the questions I would ask is how did it become the commercial and media rights holder? Did it pay for the rights and if so, how much did it pay? What is the deal between BSPL and Speedway Futures because , surely, all BSPL members must have had an input or vote on tge deal.

Of course, I don't expect to get sny answers but they can't have just started a new company and taken the rights

Absolutely.   This is the question.

Surely there are 2 ways to do this deal.

1.   Speedway Futures pay a fee (say) £1m per year for commercial rights.  They then go out and sell a TV deal, named league sponsorship, etc for whatever they can.   If they get a £1.5m TV deal and a £500k league sponsor, they're quids in.  If they only get a £250k TV deal and £50K league sponsor, they stand the loss.

or 2.  They have a non-exclusive deal as a broker.  They pay nothing, and go out to find a TV deal and sponsor etc.  They then charge a 20% finders fee on anything they bring in.   (but this would be non-exclusive, so you, me, anyone, could do the same and collect a commission percentage).

They can't possibly pay nothing but still claim all the exclusive rights and have no comeback on themselves if they fail.   Only an idiot would grant that deal to them.

You must remember that we are dealing with the BSPL when talking about deals.

And then factor in Redknapp and this Phillips guy who neither are short of a few quid, what’s in it for them ? Surely they wouldn’t hand over any of their money to invest in speedway futures ? A company at this point that doesn’t have any money and as of this moment doesn’t even have a product and only seems to exist in name and a few press releases, I did hear a flippant comment a couple of weeks back from someone in the sport who when speedway futures Ltd was mentioned they said hmmmm that’s another bone of contention, I did wonder what he was alluding too, I should of asked really 🤔
