marko Posted yesterday at 05:04 PM Report Share Posted yesterday at 05:04 PM I think Cobblers is a good nickname, after all isn’t there a Swedish club called the Blacksmiths?

Highly unlikely any marketing or promotional organisation would consider adopting “Cobblers given the slang phrase “load of cobblers” used to express strong disbelief, contempt, or to dismiss something as utter nonsense, rubbish, or a lie.
Chadster
The Northampton rugby team are known as the Saints so that might have local appeal and has a speedway pedigree.

Triple.H.
If they want to be The Saints I'd hope someone has spoken to the Rugby team and if they were in agreement Make the team colours the same and offer reduced price entry for the Rugby clubs ST/Membership holders all season in an attempt to get numbers through the doors.

Baldyman
Maybe their logo could be of a few disgarded canisters, or some teenagers laughing. Personally I think it's a terrible nickname for a speedway team

Problem with that is the car park would be rammed full with Range Rovers and Jags, and most of them would leave after heat 11 if Northampton are losing. They'd also have to provide prawn sarnies and prosecco. Bit of a sifferent demographic, methinks!

Big Al
I'm hearing that other clubs will be offering a special offer with their season ticket deal. For an additional payment (actual amount to be set by each club individually), it will include entry to all Northampton 2026 home meetings - except playoff matches - thus creating doubling-up amongst supporters in order to create the impression that Northampton has a supporters base. I'm sure that as an idea, it will catch on

old bob at herne bay
As I have posted elsewhere it has to be the Cobblers ….as is the Northampton Town F.C. The track itself looks like a death trap for speedway with short I beams supporting cables on the perimeter. Will need some serious upgrading to provide a safer raceway. It looks as flat as a board and is allegedly nearly 400m a lap.
