Technik
Before speedway Ashton was a very talented MX rider as was his Father. But the biggest difference in MX is the best bikes & equipment are only available to very few & if your not one of those it's very hard to be at the front when the flag falls. His move to speedway was very successful in the early stages but I fear he moved up to quick & the pressure of needing to score his points was a massive weight to carry rather than learn the skills at a lower level to begin with. I agree the lad was known to back out of a contest but if he was first from the gate & couldn't see anyone at the first turn he was as fast as a butchers dog. But in Flat track his skills from both MX & speedway will benefit him as was proven last weekend & to top it all he has a works Ducati GB machine. I may have been a bit cautious when I said he would be top 6 at the end of the season.

He’s a multiple champion in mx. speedway wasn’t for him not because he couldn’t do it but because he didn’t enjoy it.He won the 500 youth every round in his first few months of trying speedway, 3rd under 21s and represented GB on many of occasions. Scored a championship maximum 15 points at 16. Beat many of the top riders. I think he done ok for the couple years he was in it. Especially someone with no speedway background at all. I’ve seen his races from the weekend at roden and if you believe there’s no close racing you are as daft as your comment says you are! I’ve just YouTube him and this is the first one that comes up! This is actually my first time seeing this video but he was definitely confident then.

Trotter65
Boughen was supremely talented and fast as a speedway rider but seemed to lose his nerve a bit after a couple of crashes and injury ..after that he looked fast if he gated and got fresh air after the first bend but if the first bend was tight then he shut off a bit ….i don’t know his mindset but that is what it looked like to me ..a shame as he was talented enough to have done really well

It's different to Speedway and brakes are used but that doesn't make it gentle any more than MX is (and yes I've done a fair bit of both and had a go at Speedway even if I wasn't very good)
