It’s outright underperformance. 1 hour ago, TheWellBehavedWorrall said: Well done Pirates. Cooper's average will be 6.17 when effective, and Cairns is averaging 6.59 this season, albeit the official average will lag behind given he came in half way through last season. How many young riders have come in to the Championship and done that in recent times? So if this info is correct we then have Newman and Bowes as reserves? Does that make Poole a more or less effective point scoring machine?

I’d expect Lawson to go undefeated by a Glasgow rider, Poole reserves to have a field day against the Glasgow reserves and middle order, with Kerr and Cook to have a solid double digit night also Well done, spot on, and there I was thinking the Tigers might have given the Pirates a fright! Apart from Bomber and to a lesser extent Flint. Glasgow were pretty woeful. Hagon didn't score a point and never looked like scoring a point. Hodder and Smith didn't beat a Poole rider between them, but it was great to see the two Poole youngsters strutting their stuff also Luke Harrison never giving up. Glasgow have always had a good team, but to be in with a chance of the playoffs, they might need to make a change.

When new averages take effect, it will be William and Kyle for June.

I was vocal about recommending a Poole meeting to two colleagues from Bournemouth last season and unsurprisingly, they haven’t been back. This has absolutely nothing to do with Poole’s support or their annual revenue.

But more importantly thunder and lightning now and actual rain! Can all cool down now 🥳🥳😅

I agree about Hagon. imo, this year's British U21 Championship is going to be a much stronger lineup than last year. Scott, Cairns, Harrison, and possibly Rushen. These boys, imo, are the future of British speedway, with Dan Thompson, Flint and maybe Luke Killeen. Oh, I forgot to add the young lad at Scunthorpe, Ryan Ingram. He looks very promising. Glasgow (the fans) deserve better obviously it would be great if Cami were to go (he does make some bloody odd calls) but maybe they missed a trick when let Dan Thompson go, should it really have been Harris? I know Harris brings plenty as a Captain beyond points, and can on the odd occasion still match most top championship riders, but Dan is on the up and he now makes Edinburgh a more formidable team too. Just a thought?!*# I don't think the fans wanted to lose either rider. I always thought Dan T was a great signing for Edinburgh, but Harris was too popular for Glasgow to drop. Throw in Lawson who is one of the top three riders in the league, Zach Cook who is too good now for the championship by far, Kerr who is capable of getting anywhere between 3 and 15 on a standard night, Newman who has ridden above expectations and being blessed in not having Bowes available which has strengthened them. Any team who got them two lads at reserve, so long as the promoter had even a tad bit of ambition was going to win the league baring injuries it's just as well they didn't get Beau Bailey for Bowes in the end as that would have been another possible 8 point rider coming in on 4 starting average. Really they only got one reserve who was gonna add 4 points to his average, as Cairns started near 4.00 not 2.00 like Rushen, unless you thought Cairns was an 8 pointer pre-season? Can't believe anyone thinks Zach Cook is "too good for the Champ" not even got an 8 point average. But yes, there is lots to admire about his they have built this team, hard to see anyone challenging them over 2 legs for trophies.

Although Zach isn’t as good as Lawson or Masters, I think it’s more of a case that he’s younger and has aspirations to try and make it further in the sport, like his Brother, and then riders like Basso Brennan Nagel and many other riders who left the champ despite never hitting a 9 average. I still firmly believe Zach is riding at about 75%, and come the playoffs he will find that extra gear like last year

That ship has sailed regarding changes could only be like for like with little or no options. It feels like you have been transported back to 2008 with a team cobbled together which aren’t very good but they have managed to convince you it is a good team. Thankfully the fixture calendar will be short this year.

Theyve stopped teams signing one rider over an 8 average but done nothing about riders at the bottom of the team. The season is over, award Poole the title now.

That is why I said not quite, I would imagine Cooper's average will be above Will's by the end of the season and both will be in the main body of the team so points will be harder to come by and Cairns average was nearly 4 by the end of last season. This has absolutely nothing to do with Poole’s support or their annual revenue. To be fair, I think maybe it’s you that are missing the point. Poole are successful as a business and as a team. They have a strong supporter base who have been treated to a winning team year after year. They are addicted to winning because they have got used to it. But the team can only beat what’s in front of them, and last night, the opposition were not only poor but disappointing - 5 race wins out of 13. And three of these were by Harris. After last year’s clashes, much was expected of this match but Glasgow were a let down. But that’s only half the story - not only do Poole keep their own supporters happy, but the also make other promoters happy when Poole come to visit. Because the home supporters turn out in greater numbers because they want to see the mighty Pirates humiliated by their team. And sometimes that happens. For example, if you were an Edinburgh supporter, would you prefer to watch the Monarchs against Poole or against, say, Scunthorpe? 1

No, i want a rule that makes it fairer across the board for all teams, instead of a lopsided league (again). Another team wouldnt have met the wage demands so saying another team could have signed them is totally facetious

However what they do offer is regular payment of wages and introduction to a range of local companies that are able to offer a variety of support services, eg, accommodation, transport, workshop facilities and yes some financial support. Plus of course a history of winning trophies - and all within the same team building points as everyone else. Some people on here seem to think that winning meetings/trophies is not entertainment!!🤩 3
