Cairns has been making a significant improvement this season.wish him well he has lot of doubters.

The lad should have a big career ahead of him if he stays level headed, Cairns, Rushton, Harrison and Scott should be the core England world team cup squad in years ahead sadly as we are so far behind Poland these days talented as those four UK lads are we probably still won't be able to lay a glove on the young poles who are there to meet them when the time comes.

Cairns is a young man who as stated is making steady progress in his career. I was shot down by other members stating he shouldn’t miss league meetings for SGP commitments but Will and all the other young brits are our future stars. Riding in Europe can only improve their growing skills.

100% they do..

However, the FIM meetings are in the calendar well in advance so it shouldn't be beyond the capability of mankind to plan UK Speedway meetings around them...

And if the riders don't qualify to the next stages then that would leave "blank" evenings to arrange a previously called off fixture, should they need to do so..

The sport in the UK is dying through far too many self inflicted cuts...

Many of which could be avoided,.

Having one of your young "starlets" unavailable due to your own planning is only going to make that meeting less attractive to pay to watch..

And UK Speedway can ill afford putting up any possible barriers to prevent people to attend..

Kye Thomson 4 rides 1 point

Matej Zagar 4 rides 1 point

Both out scored by the reserves

Missed an obvious tab sub in 11

Batch takes some stick, much of it deserved, but he was more on the pace tonight than either Zagar or Thomson.Ā

The Foxes may as well give an ai bot the job it'd probably show more emotion during their team talks and interviews and would certainly be more tactically astuteĀ šŸ¤–

Stewart Dickson gets so much more out a bunch of bang average riders than Chris Adams does. Why on earth they went for and have stuck with Adams is quite beyond me, Havvy or Rosco offer so much more.Ā

Stewart Dickson is excellent tactically aware and can motivate riders to raise their game, Chris Adams does exactly the opposite.

To what end though? How does them clearing off to Europe every weekend, sometimes at the expense of appearing for their clubs benefit British Speedway? We developed Robot Lambot... he cleared off... We developed DJ Woffy... he cleared off.

I'm sure it's great for the individuals concerned progressing their career and good luck to them, but explain to me how it helps British Speedway

In the last 10 years...

10 senior GB team meetings

From 14 July 2016 to 14 July 2026, the senior Great Britain Speedway Team has raced in the UK on 10 separate meeting nights:

Year Meeting Venue
2016 Speedway World Cup Final Belle Vue, Manchester (FIM)
2017 Speedway World Cup Event 1 King’s Lynn (FIM)
2018 Speedway of Nations Race-Off 2 Belle Vue, Manchester (FIM)
2018 Great Britain 33–57 Australia — Test Match Glasgow (Glasgow Tigers Speedway)
2019 Speedway of Nations Race-Off 2 Belle Vue, Manchester (FIM)
2021 Speedway of Nations Final — first night Belle Vue, Manchester (British Speedway)
2021 Speedway of Nations Final — second night Belle Vue, Manchester (British Speedway)
2021 Great Britain 36–35 Poland — Test Match Glasgow (British Speedway)
2022 Great Britain 42–48 Rest of the World — Test Match Glasgow (British Speedway)
2024 Speedway of Nations Final Belle Vue, Manchester (fimspeedway.com)

Breakdown

  • 7 World Cup or Speedway of Nations meeting nights

  • 3 standalone Test/Challenge matches

  • 10 meetings in total

  • They represent 9 separate events, because the 2021 Speedway of Nations Final was staged across two nights.

Ā

GB Under-21/SON2 meetings in the UK

Date Competition Venue
14 July 2018 FIM Under-21 Team World Championship semi-final Glasgow
12 July 2019 FIM Under-21 Team World Championship Final Belle Vue, Manchester
12 July 2024 FIM Speedway of Nations 2—Under-21 World Team Championship Belle Vue, Manchester

Great Britain won the 2018 Glasgow semi-final with 50 points. The FIM confirms the 2019 World Under-21 Team Final was staged in Manchester, while the 2024 SON2 brought eight national Under-21 teams to Belle Vue. (Facebook)

Revised total

GB level UK meeting nights
Senior Great Britain team 10
GB Under-21/SON2 team 3
Other GB youth national teams 0 confirmed
Combined total 13

Ā

Compare this to when the national team regularly rode in home internationals, more often than not televised and at the same time well attended.

I don't want to go too hard into Chris Adams, he's probably doing the job on a voluntary/expenses only basis, but... as his record shows, he's clearly not Speedway manager material and I dare say that a decent motivational manager may have been able to turn some of Northampton's narrow defeats into narrow wins.

Yawn fest because one team so much better on their trackĀ

If you want to see close racing try Ipswich v Northampton or Leicester v Northampton where the racing would be closer and require all round skillsĀ

What is a yawn fest is your constant eagerness to jump on here with your anti BV rhetoric Poole couldnt escape it by dropping to the Championship. A bad meeting here is the exception not the rule, ive seen yawn fests at your track where both teams have been competitive, i think the anti BV brigade headed by yourself and Chun have,nt got over the fact we actually got this stadium built, if other councils around the country actually backed their speedway clubs maybe the sport could actually have the stadia that people expect today. As for the skills they were certainly missing a Foxhall recently wernt they? Funny how the sport is massive in Poland with not a "technical track" in sight that term is used by those with constant gate and go tracks. Maybe Luke Littler should drop his standard to stop darts becoming a "yawn fest"Ā šŸ˜‚

Luckily we got to see Kurtz pass everyone in heat 13 when he missed the gate though to make up for others only gating.

Why bother the match was well won if the result had depended on it i think you would have seen a different Brady hence why Norick also went in 15Ā

We will have too see where his commitment lies if he does make it.Will he commit to UK Speedway or will he do a Woffy and Lambert.

Why not have just given Heat 13 to one of the reserves? This guy is the World number 2 and rightly so he has earned it.Ā

As good as he is i find him a fustrating rider

Another pathetic showing by the Foxes, but not as pathetic as King's Lynn or Ipswich there. That should be some comfort but it really isn't. Oh well, the cards have been dealt and that's that for this season. Hopefully things will be better next year!

That’s me told off by the man with all the answers . Not sure I’m getting the part of you wanting BK to win the title though…

I’ve said numerous times I want Kurtz to win the title

As good as Zmarzlik is I would like someone else to win it and if it can’t be Bewley this season then Kurtz

What I stand by is that Kurtz will not give 100% if he has a GP coming up…. You can say that’s fair enough and I wouldn’t necessarily disagreeĀ

He is a lightning starter so may well score big points before a GP when he gates… he isn’t going to bust a gut before a gp and try hard when missing the gateĀ

Look at the Northampton meeting last week as prime exampleĀ

I just think riders like Bewley Doyle and Holder if in Kurtz position would still ride hard for their clubsĀ

I’m not saying Kurtz is right or wrong but you have to admit it happensĀ

so who was happy with the result?... i doubt the Belle Vue promoters as it would of cost a fortune with that tally of home points....Belle Vue fans, good home win but the the lack of real close racing was at a bare minimum....BSN viewers, as above....Foxes promoters and fans, poor display by the team.

I think though with at least three of the Northampton team if they pop out in front they are fine but if they are behind come the exit on second bend lap one you can fill your program in.

Granted he's not the best manager but he has been handed the worst team this year and ditto 2026, in both years it doesn't help there's near zero replacement options so the riders in question can coast along knowing they are bullet proof.

To get better its going to require someone coming in who's willing to lose 100k per annum to put a far better team together or get some really good sponsors in to underwrite the 100k.

It looks like there's definately a core fan base to build on but to get anywhere they would need to replace Klindt with Anders Thompson, Zagar with Jepsen Jensen and Batch with Beau Bailey or similar, all of which would probably require 12-20k a meeting to underwrite granted that would be part netted off by the existing three leaving.Ā
