Lynn fans have to be pretty miffed at seeing the “efforts” of Cook and Kvech when they see Cook in Poland and Kvech mixing it with the worlds best in the GP’s. 
 

Wouldn’t include either next year personally but just my opinion.

We said something similar on the pod this week, more in terms of consistency than effort necessarily but they have both been disappointing this year having started on averages they really should have improved on. Both could score 14 or 4 on any given day. If I were building a team right now for 2027 I'd try to keep Fricke, Bomber and the two young lads and have three fresh faces.

Whilst I think Northampton are out of it the battle for the 4th spot will i think be interesting - The Aces and Leicester are i feel nailed on and if Sheffield keep winning at home they will probably be through leaving the Witches and the Star to fight it out for spot 4 - so the Stars need to win well tomorrow!

If anything you were a bit kind on the podcast I think.like you discussed, serious questions about why the club has under performed must surely be asked

Lessons can surely be learned from others. We went to Northampton last week too, and there are several points i think are worth a mention.The presentation was pretty slick, you could hear the announcer clearly.

 

Grading breaks although regular were relatively short, and not just after the home team had got a 5-1 to sabotage any momentum.

Interval entertainment  was good  , something else to watch other than more tractor racing

The promoters were there,visible and interacting with the crowd .I think one of the last times I saw Mr allitt was on the back of the truck at the showground wearing a panthers jacket when lynn were there. I didn't think much to that!

Our team; Max was superb, as was Bomber after his first rate issues,can't really lay any blame on the youngsters, Jan was poor apart from one rider, but in my opinion Brn Cook just didn't look interested or like he was trying, and he committed the " ultimate sin" of throttling off before the end of the race and basically giving up. I'm no body language expert but he just didn't look interested, and that pisses me off, we should have been fired up as a team and wanted that win , sadly it looked like we werent and didn't. I'm not the only one that spent a fair bit of money that evening and it wasnt good enough

Yeah and this point is exactly why you can’t be a die hard speedway fans in the UK. Lynn and Sheffield are battling to be in the playoffs offs with Ipswich. So what happens… 2 Ipswich riders are in this match, that doesn’t make this sport attractive to fans. Riders, and rightly so, take guest bookings for money. But fans can’t support a league that has not loyalty to their club and is more like a merry-go-round. I’m so no bothered about Ipswich this season, I go to every home match but I’m certainly not invested in it as I would be to say football where it’s actually your club and players.

If either Edwards or Lawson gets injured tonight, then a meeting that has nothing to do with their contracted club has just finished the season for their contracted club.

Exactly.  Also if they score well tonight, especially Jason we may end up in 5th position and out of the play offs.  This is the very thing that needs sorting out, I know the excuse from promoters will be there is a shortage of riders, thats irrelevant, in this type of situation they should do r/r if possible or get someone from the NDL,   Also I wonder how the Lynn or Sheffield fans will feel if Lawson or Jason Edwards end up scoring badly tonight etc then scoring well on Thursday at Ipswich.  This type situation is just diabolical and unacceptable for all fans.  Mr. Coleman and other promoters take note - we are fed up with it, it nothing changes soon more of us will walk away from the sport.

But that can happen without guesting as well, due to riders in multiple leagues, doubling up, GPs, etc.

The year that Sheffield won the playoffs they lost 6 riders to injury at some point during the season, and only one of them was injured riding for Sheffield.

The comparison with football is irrelevant whilever riders are allowed to compete in 2 or 3 countries. They are never riders for your club exclusively.

There will be 200+'Guests this season in the two top leagues..

Imagine trying to sell such a sh*tshow to TV??.. 

"So, any of your riders can ride for any of your competitor's and score points that will prevent you from getting into the Play Offs?...

"We will pass, thankyou"....

Edit. Obviously I mean that guesting has been around for decades and no one doesn't attend UK Speedway just because of this....

And that using a  regulation from 60 years ago, is perfect for a modern day 24/7 digital social media age....

Think the Witches will just do it. Cook and Kvech have not bought there form from abroad back to the uk

Two points.

Firstly - if they got injury for doubling up in their championship contracted club or other league or even SGP, so be it, because that is also their signed contractual obligations. What they do as guests is basically moonlighting and risking their actual clubs chances of a good season.

Secondly - The comparison with football, although not directly the same, is relevant. That sport houses your players and your loyal fan base. These riders are for all intents and purposes your riders, they cannot ride against their second team be it in the championship or another league abroad as no European cups exist in speedway, therefore cannot directly impact ruining their actual clubs chances of a league position… when you introduce guest riders, that changes everything.

Normally I'd agree it's daft guesting when it can hurt your team, but in this instance one of their play-off rivals will drop points.

If Lawson helps Sheffield win, that's Lynn out of the play-off hunt, while even if Edwards helps Lynn to a home win, they're still a long way from finishing ahead of Ipswich.

If I was a Witches fan I'd rather Sheffield won, so wouldn't mind Lawson guesting, but less keen on Edwards racing for Lynn.

It's a credibility thing for me. I don't pretend to have the answers but borrowing riders from a rival team in a 6 club league is just bonkers.

I'd get rid of guests completely if it was possible but even if not they need to be absolutely minimised.

I think it an absolutely simple issue to fix to which I've said for years. It can't be eradicated totally but all guests should come in from the lower league & have a lower converted average than the official No7.

1 rider missing, it's only R/R.

2 riders missing, it's R/R + guest at No7 & everyone else in the team moves up a position.

3 riders missing, meeting postponed.

It definitely should not be accepted that half the team can be guests.

Tonight, another good result for the Stars, but yet again for King's Lynn fans the Play-Offs carrot is dangling, it's the hope that kills you again isn't it??

Deserved win for Stars, quick rider summary after watching on BSN

King’s Lynn

Fricke - Woeful, looked so uncomfortable on him track for a rider with such experience

Rushen - Did more than expected even if a bit erratic 

Harris - Definitely a Bomber type track tonight and he put the points on the board and bar race with Rowe he dominated 

Cook - Frustrating for Lynn fans, 8 pointer in Ekstraliga, 5 pointer in Premiership, seemed to just go through the motions 

Kvech - Up and down night

Edwards - Scored more than Jenkins would have done so did what you want from a guest in beating opposite rider and more 

Scott - Excellent performance from the rising star, lovely style on the bike 

 

Sheffield 

Lawson - Hot & Cold, no replacement for J.Holder whose usually good for double digits there

Rowe - Top drawer, has to be his best performance for Sheffield

Holder - What you expect nowadays, very Klindt like fast out front so poor when behind

Flint - Poor early doors came to party late on did what was expected in the end

Pickering - You’d think he never ridden the place, poor on track decision making in just about all his races, needs to walk the walk rather than talk a good game if wants to be at the top table 

Etheridge - Rode like a novice, awful performance 

Kileen - Slow all night again, didn’t make one start, track dominated him rather than him racing on track
