Poole v Scunthorpe - Championship - 12 August

Recommended Posts

Thought the track last night was extremely smooth. It was slick as expected. Watering regularly with a new bowser, which didn’t imo put down enough water even though the driver was going slow. Needs to come out at a faster rate. By the time the tractor had done a lap it was evaporating. Bigger jets required!

Racing wise it was OK. A few good heats. Brennan a good guest. Morris and Jenkins both excellent guests. Lightcap a very decent first meeting with no last places and battled well. Nearly got the better of Brennan but stayed low allowing Tom to blast around him.

The riders requested the small bowser after the mid-meeting issues last week. Many riders don't like watering during the meeting after they've got their set-ups right. Mid-meeting watering is as much to do with keeping dust levels controlled for the comfort of the crowds as it is for the riders.

Several riders interviewed said how good the track was. Race times were reasonably consistent around the 59-60 sec in the early heats to 61-62 sec mark in the latter stages. Will Cairns tremendous win in heat 15 was 60.43 secs .

If your quoted the full post, you’d have seen that’s exactly what @SteveLyric2wrote

Well he kind of did, my point was a general one, as they often are on Poole threads as I dont want to be accused of having a go at them! It's not a new thing, track prep for riders not spectators has been an issue for years but if there is dust then what riders want shouldn't really come into it.

This bowser is really down to Terry.

He's been working on it for a few weeks and wanted to use it last week but there was a leak issue.

So I think Terry should get full praise for this

It struck me when I read the predictable jibes about the blue line in heat 15, that actually what we had was a track equally good whether you rode the inside line or the outside one, as Cairns and Brennan demonstrated.

All ht 15 demonstrated was the blue groove was the fastest line surely?
