So the first rider reveal for the 2027 Pirates is at this evening's Pirates End of Season Party and Hogroast.(at approx. 8.30pm I'm told having done a deep dive into the evening's arrangements)

Also the Fans' Rider of the Year Award to be presented

Riders in attendance will include most of the 2026 Pirates plus video interviews with Slater Lightcap and Fraser Bowes'

Should be a fun evening!🤙😆

Why would Bowes do a video if he isn't coming back.

Hope he is not in the line up as I see that as a backward step, being a rider with in my opinion no upward scope based on his several years in Poland going backwards in his scoring and performances.

Appreciate injuries didn't help last season but having done a deep dive on his performances in POL over several years his belated arrival in UK is more a case of last chance saloon in my opinion.

What, in detail, does your deep dive show? Firsts, seconds, thirds, last and against what level of opposition? Any big scalps? Many losses to riders that he should be beating? Was it all u-24 league or were some meetings against higher grade riders?

Strange as it may seem, the End of season party is about 2026!! It'll give him the chance to explain the full extent of his spinal injuries - not all of which were initially diagnosed - but did explain why he was in so much pain when trying to race the bike.

I hope that's a deep enough dive for you, whether he returns or not!!

Personally think bowes would be good signing for 2027 if fit his starting average is lower than he started on last season. He impressed me when he rode well at Plymouth before his injury problems

The severity of his injuries and pain barrier he went through are not in question and no doubt were horrendous.

I had my opinion on him way before he joined Poole for 2026 nd before his injury in Aussie.

His scores went backwards in the POL U24 over a few seasons and when he was loaned out to lower POL Lge clubs his scoring was poor and not what you wouldexpect from a what was supposed to be improving young Aussie.

He is 25 in a week and was based in POL for 5 years. He as then signed late for a 2026 lower div side that didnt even come to the tapes in 2026 due to financial issues.

I always said would love him to prove me wrong before last season  even started. Even I get it wrong as I did when Ben Cook first came over as I was basing it on doing nothing special in Aussie. Got that wrong big time 😄

When he wins that - then be the first signing for 2027 as he rightly should be.

No, Ben, but it could be Zach or Richard Lawson. Ben has the edge for me though. If he’s prepared to ride in the Championship again, he’d be right up there as one of the strongest riders in the league, plus he’s a trophy winning captain!

Lawson in that team and I wouldn’t mind that exact team as McDiarmid isn’t at Oxford and I think he has a lot of potential.

I agree with you in that id have Ben back in heartbeat, can’t see it tho. I also believe his ave would be the new converted prem one rather than his old one? So it would be 9.93

Agree with McDiarmid

But I do think Ben and Zach are the better rider to Lawson, and probably a better captain than Lawson. Lawson more reliable especially away, but Ben before he left and Zach last year were out performing Lawson
