Ipswich v Sheffield 4th September

Any idea why Richie was sprinting across the track at the beginning of ht15? Seemed to be looking for something on the 2nd bend -

The match that hasn't been ridden was programmed for 28th August but it was rained off, so even if all other matches had been ridden this would still have missed your deadline. People are constantly blaming the clubs but does anybody know who actually sets the fixtures ? Surely this is done centrally by the SCB or whoever based on information provided by each club ? -
Plus they only meet once home and away which is a far better proposition.

Just been catching up on these posts. Where on earth have you got the 200 crowd figure from ? I'm a regular and haven't seen any crowds at Northside that poor. Show me proof that I need to go to specsavers.

What about Northampton?

Who ever does it is taking a huge gamble that probably has a 10-15% chance of working and they will need to be willing to drop six figures it just seems utter madness , we certainly need more tracks but if it was Louis this looks like the kind of experiment that would blow up massively and probably bring the witches down with it. If the stadium was in Coventry it would most likely be a goer but again start at Championship standard don't go all in on a huge gamble and the most expensive gamble of three options also. -

The play offs are wide open, it’s impossible to predict. -

I find it incredible that what is mean to be a Professional Sport they cannot even fulfil the fixtures before the Play Offs. That is the shambles the sport is nowadays, and they still expect new fans to come along and be impressed. Its a joke really. -

Doesn’t really matter between March 15th and August 31st is 24 weeks plenty of time to fit in 12 home league meetings. I am at a lose as to why year after year clubs struggle to make the deadline. Maybe the deadline should be August 31st. -

I'm not sure what table you are looking at, as the one on British Speedway shows Sheffield on 1127-942 and Ipswich 1123-947. In my calculations Sheffield are already 9 points in front. -

Totally agree with all the above. We are making far too many excuses for my liking as a witches fan. Moaning about weather changing the track, moaning about track prep (our problem not anyone else’s so just on with it) and keep using excuses of changing rider positions. This will come to bite us in the arse, ride your best riders in their best positions and build momentum, don’t keep p!sing about with it and wonder why we lose. - Today

I fully understand the team mentality. Admittedly I don't go every meeting, but Sheffield are still my team and I have been watching them for over 40 years. I am also a season ticket holder at my local football team so I know the hurt when your team doesn't perform, and expect that anger to flow on here. That wasn't the moaning I was talking about. It is the people who constantly complain about the way the sport is run, fixture planning, guest riders, playoffs, etc. It isn't the 1970s/1980s. The sport has changed and it is far better to embrace what you have and try to enjoy it, than spend all your time harking back to the good old days as they are never coming back. -
The lovely Cornish man who was a real handful on the track https://classicspeedwaymemories.webador.co.uk/september-2025/just-an-unlucky-lad

It's a terrible position that Gorzow are in, and you have to feel for their fans, but this is some great sh1thousing from Rybnik: https://sportowefakty.wp.pl/zuzel/1207862/zuzel-krzysztof-mrozek-chce-pomoc-stali-gorzow-znowu-zwrocil-sie-do-komarnickieg "I don't want to comment on Stal's financial situation, as it's not my area of expertise, but if there really is a problem, we need to help others. We'll try to make sure Stal only loses two more matches. I'm willing to help,"

Or so we thought. Now looks like being 1st v 3rd & 2nd v 4th ? Of course this may not happen if the “powers in charge”decide the two remaining fixtures are not held so saving face.

To me it was a nothing meeting where riders were probably testing things, Doyle arrived late, not ideal, he is riding better now but no point in taking any risks. I expect they were told no risks. Dan T should really be at 2 in my opinion especially at home, King should be at 3. They still should have won this meeting easily but I would expect a different result in the play offs. -
Just hope this mum puts his "gating gloves" on a string now.

Louis with the backing of Tru Group could be a shout. They already have a good working relationship with Deane Woods at Ipswich. -
... and all on the back of an army of volunteers that move heaven and earth each week to enable tracks to stage meetings and riders to earn money.

Because you're not the all conquering team you think you are, as shown in the league table standings, Sheffield should probably have finished top, so no disgrace in losing to them at home and 4th placed Belle Vue were only 6 league points adrift at the end of the season. With the way Doyley & Emil were riding last season you were clearly the team to beat, this season both riders have been performing well below those standards. I agree about the riding order though you've got to have your best 2 riders at 1 and 5 as there is the likelihood of a big points swing with a 5-1 in heat 13

In my calculations they are one point behind so if there was an unusual race result like a 5-0 it could be a draw overall, unlikely but it is possible. -

So how it is worked out because there is no guarantee they would have a better points difference. -

No! Although some Belle Vue's wins were before Poole existed. Loved the rivalry we had, great times.
