2025 Regs: 10.2.1 Established MA's "... At the end of each season the BSP LTD will produce a listing of all riders who have competed in British Speedway during that season and following approval and/or amendment at their AGM. The MA’s, excluding bonus points but including other allowances will be the riders MA for the following season. These MA’s will remain affective for team building, team positioning, facilities, until new MA’s become effective. The most recently established MA will be used. If a rider has an established MA in both the Premiership and Championship Leagues, established in the same season, that leagues MA will apply to that league. To be effective 7 days after the last qualifying meeting. Any rider returning to British Speedway on an established MA, achieved prior to 2023 will establish an updated MA after completing 6 applicable meetings. ..." The last paragraph implies that if a rider had an Established MA from 2023 or 2024, it would count. Assuming the 2026 Regs are updated by a year, then Established MAs from 2025 or 2024 would count ... thus Nicholls could be on his 2024 Prem MA ... NB: the grammar and speeling in the Regs is appalling.

You will find in most places that still have speedway a lot of people don't know it exists, couple of recent examples, me and a mate went into a pub 1 mile away from belle Vue, near the Holiday inn express, person behind the bar your not local, us, have come down for the speedway just up the road, bar person, I thought that closed down years ago, us, yes 2 venues closed but still going at the national speedway arena, bar person did not know speedway still going. Another example was helping out on a stall at an Xmas event in Workington couple of years ago, giving stickers etc away, man with family said he did not know a new facility had been built for speedway. And the comets lot are quite good trying to promote the sport.

Most likely unheard of and irrelevant to the 1000 asked Much better in reality to be known by all and hated by 500 but loved by 500 Edit - looks likes we can at least still blame the Poles -
Definitely that no one has heard of it. I think the only people that knew about it when I was at school was the people I forced to come along with me, most of whom never went again

What about Northampton?
The Cheese replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
We must surely be approaching the point where they say it's too late to get this done. This waiting isn't fair on the riders, it's not fair on the other clubs who have declared they're running but can't get properly organised, and most importantly it's not fair to the supporters who can't be blamed if they decide that after the farce of this winter it's finally the time to walk away from the sport. I hope Northampton do start. The circumstances in which it happens isn't ideal but it would still be exciting to see a new track enter, and wouldn't it be great if we were all here in 7-8 months time looking back at a successful first season. But you can't keep everyone waiting around forever, there has to be a deadline. -
As we sit here twiddling our thumbs I was just reading a pole of the most boring sports in peoples opinion and of 1000 replies nobody said Speedway, now that can be took two ways either nobody finds Speedway boring or nobody finds who voted has heard of it,just for the record, curling and cricket were the most nominated

he also loved a good sense of humour. 🤣 -
Stifles aspiration, and ambition, and is clearly open to manipulation.. If must be quite annoying for a rider to miss out on a team place by a few decimal points, knowing one of his team mates last year let him finish in front of him, which, ultimately put his average "too high"... Even more so if a "bonus point king" gets the place he could have had!!!
-
I hate the averages system and also the idea of not having riders as assets. It kills the motivation to develop young riders as if their average gets to high, you have to lose them for nothing or lose another top rider. It also doesn't really keep teams that fair either
-
Grass track fixtures in this week’s Star for those in the Premiership suffering from withdrawal symptoms. Perhaps one of the grass venues could stage speedway, it might be quicker than Northampton.
-
Diapers also here ready and waiting
-
Ahhh, but.... You need to use such a highly scientific system like rider averages because it means that every season, every team, starts the season almost completely equal... Well. Apart obviously from those teams who get named on here, before a wheel is turned, as a shoe in for the play offs, or, alternatively, correclty named as spending the season as complete and utter cannon fodder... It works so well doesn't it?..

Can any old Cradley fans remember a rider by the name of Cyril Cragg who competed in a Best Pairs meeting at Dudley Wood on Saturday 21st May 1960? He was one of the meeting reserves and took four rides in the place of Bill Coleman who had dropped out of the meeting after his first two rides either through injury or bike problems. Cragg scored six points from the four rides he completed and fell in what would have been his fifth ride, but in one of his races he defeated Roy Spencer who was at the time Cradley's third heat leader. Cragg's name had never previously been seen in the Cradley programme and neither was it ever seen again, so the mystery seems to be that if he was good enough to beat Cradley's third heat leader Spencer, why would he not have been signed on, on the spot? Could he have been a rider already under contract to another club who was riding on that particular occasion under an assumed name? This kind of thing wasn't unique at the time - several riders had used assumed names when riding at Bradford and Liverpool the previous season, and former Belle Vue captain Ken Sharples rode as "Gary Lindsay" for LIverpool against Cradley in a cuptie just a couple of weeks afterwards. Would be interesting to find out one way or another.

Remember when that one guy came into your work telling you about a new pyramid scheme and we all put money in and it in reality turned out to be a scam, this speedway futures Ltd is giving off the same vibes at the moment

If anyone fancies enjoying a slice of 'King's Lynn', Nicolai Klindt, Niels-Kristian Iversen and Mads Korneliussen will be sharing tales from their friendship and time with the Stars at The Rathskeller on Saturday March 14th. Nicolai has organised the event to kickstart his testimonial weekend. Tickets start at £15 and food (hog roast) is available, as are VIP packages. Would be great to see some of you there: https://sportingknights.co.uk/events/

So.... Basically, promoters thought that an authentic and relevant league, that had some resonance, and ran during the warmer months, would negatively impact their unauthentic, and largely irrelevant league, with minimal, if any, resonance, (that they would still run), using the colder months too?... In summary... "This product would deliver what many fans want, and would engage them to attend, but then they wouldn't turn up to watch the usual contrived stuff we cobble together each season".. They probably wouldn't be wrong would they?
