Yes you are not one of the posters i was referring to regarding some comments, you are very fair in your posts. I agree with you about the moaning about the Ipswich team, the cup final and reaching the play offs is pretty good from where you started from having such a late start. A lot of fans were saying the club is safe and dont expect anything this season, yet are now being critical. Next season is when the new owners influence will be seen, and i think it will be a very good side they put together. Be interesting to see what changes to the sport 2027 brings, if any.

And the point I've made is that perhaps they haven't got lucky. Fricke's average has dropped dramatically - and it can be argued that for such a good, proven rider it shouldn't have fallen like that (more than Brennan's has fallen at Ipswich, and he's had a terrible season according to most). Fricke's average was still too high to guest for Holder in away matches until 1st September, so there must have been a great deal of luck involved to get it low enough ...

The time to complain about tin pot rules was in 2023 when Robert Lambert illegally guested for Sheffield and won them the trophy. Basically Damien the Sheffield promoter emailed committee member Mr Bates to see if the rule could be circumnavigated. They came to a mutual agreement and the trophy was sorted. Funnily enough, the year before they conspired to alter the rules for the play offs but someone from outside the sport made sure the rules were adhered to. With regards super Max being in the Sheffield side, am I missing something or isn’t the Sheffield side the same as the one we last met at Owlerton?

Unfortunately, the guest rules don't allow for that, and with the added rule of only being allowed to ride for one team in the playoffs, Sheffield had no choice but to bring in somebody who had already 'failed' this season. We have struggled through the season unable to find a suitable replacement for one of the best riders in the world, and Fricke was our only option within the existing rules to have any chance of winning the playoffs. As I said in another thread, had Bewley and Holder's injuries happened in reverse order then the shoe could quite easily have been on the other foot.

Controversial statement I know, but I have never understood why British riders only get a 2.5% reduction in team building averages in both the Premiership and Championship. Surely, it should be much higher, (closer to) 25% to encourage teams to hire British riders rather than riders from abroad.

If Zach Cook plans on remaining in the Championship, he’ll be the first name on the team sheet at the expense of Lawson IMO. I’d expect Kerr and Newman to move on too, but assume the Fords and Middleditch will do everything they can to retain Cairns and Rushen, plus maybe Lightcap. May I recommend Sam Hagon, Mario Hasul and Matic Ivacic?

Anyone would think that Ipswich have always been a big time club in the top league other than when you signed 2 ready made super stars a few seasons ago This years team has had about as much league success as the previous teams over the last 2 + decades. Perhaps there was no long term planning involved with all those teams as well. Belle vue have had a few baron years but i just put that down to signing crap teams.

I don’t have a problem with guests Dave. They’re a necessary evil in the sport. Always have been. My problem is that Max Frickes season in this country had ended as well as his teams. To then be able to start it up again with a different club at this stage of it seems wrong. That’s why I called it a tin pot rule. If someone guested who hasn’t actually raced in the league this season, i.e lambert or whoever then although not ideal, would be acceptable. Just my opinion
