Foxes vs Witches, Thursday 30th April
mikebv replied to paulnolan's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Strange call running a guest for their opening night.... I suppose it does get "newbies" used to it "early doors"... I would have thought RR would have been the choice given four of their riders would get more track time, and money.... Let's hope Kyle doesn't become the match winner, as he would become the Northampton fans' first hero!!!.... -
Ban would be for failing to ride in UK on Monday due to injury picked up on Friday but which didn’t stop him riding in Italy at the weekend - I suspect he’ll be let off with a warning. The second sentence? Evidence for even thinking like that?

2 home meetings in & I have been surprised by the team doing better than I thought. Its also good to see that the new owners are investing with the new big screen hopefully just the start. However it feels like something is missing the atmosphere feel good factor seems lacking. My be it’s the loss of Emil & Jason or the new presenter or a combination of the 2 I’m not sure. I have certainly come away feeling flat after the first 2. -

Wonder if the Foxes will get some track time in the afternoon ahead of meeting, bit like their P&P? - Today

The 396m was apparently the barrier 310m is the kerb (or 1m from the kerb which I believe is the official way to measure) -
British speedway release today says it’s 310m. Thought it was suppose to be lot bigger 396m?

Why a ban? Hopefully Facenna’s haven’t paid Hagon off to try and ensure their progress. -
Given thel lack of fixtures you would think they could do better in arranging UK fixtures.

Kyle Howarth in for NKI -
Dan was one of the riders that visited the local schools pre-season, along with Zach, Cooper and Will, so for that alone he deserves his chance.
-
The immature sniping at Will Cairns is really disappointing if not surprising.

We're on, then! It's hard to predict anything with a brand new track but a home victory would (of course) be nice! Teams as per Ipswich social media:

What will 2026 UK speedway bring?
paulnolan replied to Lionsman66's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Feels odd to be chipping in here before my club has even raced a meeting but it strikes me that, leaving aside the quality of the racing, regularity is one of the key things to attract and keep a crowd. Let's take Northampton as an example. The beginning of April to the end of September is 6 full months. Let's say they want 12 home meetings, as this season. It would make all the sense in the world to divide the league into 3 Monday tracks and 3 Thursday tracks. If Northampton is a Thursday track, they should run the first and third Thursday of every month. That leaves the second and fourth Thursdays for away at the 2 other Thursday tracks - let's say Ipswich and Sheffield - and rain-offs, with Mondays free to go away to the 3 other tracks. That way the local fans know exactly when there will be speedway at Brafield, and the casuals will know it's the first and third Thursday of the month. The season can extend into October for play-offs if needed, and begin in March for pre-season action if desired. -
Disappointing as it was the low amount of available riders (we weren’t into the idea of a seasoned campaigner like Jake in a development team) and the fact Buxton opened up only 20 miles away meaning we really didn’t want to draw any kind of development league attendance from them. Bigger picture thinking that’s sadly lost on most within the sport, both on and off the track. I wish ALL tracks had shown the same level of involvement as Belle Vue with regards junior speedway, just think where we could have been then. It won’t see the end of our wonderful involvement in rider development and hopefully we’ll see yet more FIM medals coming our way.

I hope so he is a nice guy and has Poole in his heart, shame we cant keep him.
-
works so well they dont have a national league team this season
-
Wrong call imo, Joe started the season well, Gilkes hasn’t really impressed much when he’s not watching from the sidelines and I’m sure it’ll be a matter of time before he’s back on them.
-
He pays to be the manager 😂
-
Think you’re missing the point, he wouldn’t be anywhere near where he is, including this pick he’s got if it wasn’t for the family cash/sponsorship of team GB.
-
The national side in a World Cup should take priority so why schedule domestic meetings for that day? I'm sure it does make it a difficult decision financially for those riders but at the very least I would expect anyone turning down GB to be blocked from SGP/SEC qualifiers and involvement in the British GPs.

Yep, and Kyle I’m sure will be picked up after a great start to the season

Rider insurance (or lack thereof)
