  1. Past hour
  2. I came up last night as a neutral and I was not disappointed with what was put on show, good racing, a great crowd and a great atmosphere. The referee had a shocker, it was speedway shambles at its finest in heat 1 at the rerun with Palovaara never mind in heat 7, hats off to Kye for coming out and getting the better of Bomber in the rerun. It was completely predictable heading into heat 13 that Glasgow would walk away the victors, Edinburgh needed to be at least ten up going into the last 3. Max Perry was the match winner though, he stepped up big time with Nagel struggling and deserves all the plaudits.
  3. If there’s one thing I would agree with you on, yes, speedway is not that deep. There are far more important things in life. For example……. we’re having chicken for dinner tomorrow, what are you having? 😂😂
  4. Yes, I'm enjoying it, thanks. Surprised the home supporters are still being so vocal considering Wroclaw have won on aggregate. Guess GKM can still win on the night, which looked unlikely earlier.
  5. I understand some people have very strong opinions on play offs but I think without them our sport would be even less interesting to many people, they provide drama and no doubt a very important stream of income for a lot of teams. I went up to Glasgow last night as a neutral purely and simply on the basis of it being in the balance and with the hope of a dramatic meeting which was delivered in droves going all the way down to a last heat decider. The place was absolutely packed, programmes sold out by the time I arrived, I’m sorry but if you remove the play offs you lose all that. Those that say that more people might attend league meetings if it counts more towards a league title may be discounting the fact that teams on the edge of the play off bubble these days may lose crowds because by August they’d be out of the title race and nothing to play for, with this system most teams have something to race for for most of the season.
  6. Comets did not have the gating gloves on again today and been like that much of the season.Berwick 4 top point scorers all looked good and nice to see Jye get back on his bike so soon after a fall. Not much to be happy about today at least the weather held out but started to turn nasty after 3 heats of the second half.Next season I think they need a bit more consistency as to many riders off song at different times.
  7. Today
  8. There are only three wildcard picks, so you’ve got to lose one of them.
  9. TBF he’s been known to do what Steve is suggesting previously. He’s also offered them all big bonuses for netting the big fish. He hasn’t had to pay out on that, YET.
  10. The simple mathematical truth is that there are insufficient riders of competitive quality to make up the number of teams you suggest are being considered for “one league”.
  11. The whole system isnt fit for purpose Dean... Promoters will spend literally hundreds of thousands on riders, whose names will resonate hardly one iota locally with anyone outside the Speedway bubble. . Yet hardly anything in comparison to their riders on marketing locally which may bring fans in.. Simon Lambert? Robert Lambert? To the vast majority of the country, neither are known... They then also seriously undermine their own competitions with a series of self inficted, completely foreseeable issues, which often then result in some contrived, Mickey Mouse solution, which does nothing but further alienate an ever growing number of a frustrated fanbase . Self undermined competitions by the way that they then pay out huge money (in relation to the sports level of following) to try and win!! At the very peak of the sports success, only the very top riders had the financial packages to be fully pro... Now even some NDL riders see themselves as pro Speedway riders .. A ludicrous operating and business model has been allowed to grow unchecked for decades . However its probably too late now to reign it in and control it collectively I would imagine... As there will always be at least one promoter who will spend big to satisfy their longing for a trophy that their very own organisation does it's level best to devalue.
  12. Best team in the league over the season? How come given, Tigers were not the team who won most matches nor the team who lost the least. But were beaten quite a few times in the league & in the playoffs by the team that did. Better luck next year & yes I really do hope a new owner can be found to give it a chance to happen.
  13. No point in having seats, as soon as the tapes go up everyone stands up. Almost as dusty as Perry Barr.
  14. The section of fans on the exit of the fourth bend can make some noise! Can't be more than 300 of them.
  15. Everyone wearing a hat in the stadium takes it off for the National Anthem but everyone wearing a hoodie leaves their hood up?
  16. Do you reckon the sponsor has paid riders like Doyle,Thompson,King and Edwards not to exert themselves in the matches they have had since Thursday?Riders go racing and the adrenaline pumps they want to win.
  17. A close result on aggregate but the result I expected. The Monarchs quite simply didn't have the heat leader power to see them home. Victor Palovaara is a shadow of the early season rider we witnessed while you could have bet money on Sedgy being last in heat 15. MPT never looked up for the challenge at any point which must have been a huge disappointment to the Monarchs faithfull. It would have been harsh and hugely disappointing for the Tigers if they had failed to reach the final after finishing top of the league so well done to them.
  18. Well done the Bandits, lack of recent racing for some of the Comets was obvious early on while the 44 points from an impressive Berwick top 4 sealed the day. Some very entertaining races but Comets must have given up on squaring up the meeting in heat 15 to take it to a superheat.
  19. Something that needs to be addressed is the extras that riders are now expecting, mechanics, vans, workshops, hotels, airport transfers, flights, tyres, insurances,,houses and bills and any other add ons that riders are expecting today and are getting to varying degrees, it’s not that riders don’t deserve it but we just can’t afford it, it’s out of control really and it has to be curtailed, riders these days seem to be blind to the struggles that British speedway goes through, I understand they try to get what they can but speedway has to stand firm and say no, I do often wonder what other motorcycle sports think about us and the pandering that our riders get
  20. Even better, maybe the team that won most & lost least meetings should be league champions. In case you wondering, that would be Leicester
