I’d say it definitely was personally. He’s mentioned “multi contracts” between the two clubs more than once and better access to the rider market. So basically when you sign for Wroclaw, you also sign for Ipswich in the British League. They can say no of course, but then they’ll run the risk of waking up with a horses head in their bed.

But Coleman hopes the strategic partnership, as he calls it, could open some doors for the Witches in terms of attracting top talent to Foxhall. Agree on Kubera, he's had his chances at this level and been marginal at best - keeps surviving thru the Challenge Final, but its a bit harsh to be writing off Freddie and Dudek. Freddie, at time of this season's injury , was current World #4 and had scored 12 points in his only 2026 GP opportunity. Dudek, a proven talent at this level as a former GP silver medalist and U21 Champion, found his way back to top form last season as SEC Champion and Polish Extraligue #2. Currently a shade under a 2 point Extraligue Heat Average, he is well up to a podium finish or two in the remaining 5 GP rounds.

But Poole won't have a full strength team definitely no cairns, no bowes, but won't be missed, and probably no lawson 😲 batch has pulled out of the Memorial meeting at worky on Saturday, so maybe guesting for Poole 🤔

My first meeting was also in 1972. 1973 was my first full season though and Norman was a Pirate again by then, so I remember him well. From the Poole squad that season, we've also lost Christer Lofqvist, Antoni Woryna and Odd Fossengen but most who wore the skull & crossbones that season are still with us thankfully.

Wonder if he ever settled his several thousand pounds spares bill he owed rather than telling him he'd burn his house down if he ever asked for the money again.

I think Berwick will be the happier of the 2 teams, but would still fancy Poole to progress if they had a full strength team at Berwick. I'm a bit surprised Poole have stuck with Bowes for so long, normally quick to make changes.

Unless he was signed off on monday by the medics, surely it becomes a non speedway injury, or illness

I don't think a rider can miss a match due to riding abroad & then not ride abroad, so surely it'd have to count as an injury causing him to miss the Poole match?

To defend Oxford here, they signed two 2 point something reserves, so can't expect too much of them, although Wood has done far better than expected. But he's been more up & down recently. For me their biggest issues are at the top of the team, Masters & Rowe down on last year's form & potential trump card Riss missing a lot of the season. Also thought McDiarmid would've improved more in his second season. As for Jenkins, in hindsight he may have done better than Kennett, but why would Oxford have signed a rider averaging below 4 in 2026 to replace a heat leader?

But it was acceptable for the paying public to lose out when Klindt didn't turn up for Plymouth last year, or when riders are "banned" for being ill / non-speedway injury, Rushen for example after being injured because he didn't declare the injury when he crashed. In these situations the paying public losing out doesn't bother the powers that be. Although my hope would be, that Lawson / Poole knowing there's no facility would lead to him racing for Poole! If you're cool with facilities here, we'll have to agree to disagree.

I wonder if he got one of those ‘after the match’ medical certificates at Belle Vue on Monday?

Looks like there is some new riders going to workington on saturday. Wonder if they are looking to make more changes.

Yes…a true fan of speedway , not a win at all costs sort of Man Utd type trophy hunter, and by the way, I’m not from Redcar , I’m more a neutral now my team have gone.

In theory though Lawson didn’t miss the Poole match due to injury he missed it due to Danish commitments having priority Don’t think him missing the Danish match due to injury supersedes that priority so don’t imagine the 7 day rule matters

Yes, I have just watched his presentation on Facebook and quite honestly I thought it was excellent. He mentioned for my mind the most important thing about the oldest ever rider demographic in the Premiership. This is the most serious issue I believe facing British Speedway. Thinking logically, and forgot what promoters think for a minute. We have slowly been eliminating our rider base since 2003. Before long we'll have no boys to play with the toys and as Richard Coleman said we cannot have another close season like the last one. Let's hope he can sprinkle some magic dust on the BSPL meeting!
