  1. Past hour
  2. Mildenhall is similar plus they would at least benefit from local derbies with Lynn and hopefully Ipswich
  3. Yes, but... it's amazing how the mind can be focused when a large sum of money is thrown at you. And if that's what it takes to get speedway back at Eastbourne instead of a suicidal attempt at trying to make Northampton work, then it should be looked at as a priority.
  4. He's already got contracts at Poole and in Denmark (squad place) and Poland!
  5. I had forgot about Lawson I wonder where he will end up in the 5 team top league ?
  6. I am sure if we moved up at any stage in the future then he would be welcomed back at Poole.
  7. Would love it to happen Iain but M.D has said many times its not going to happen and he should know better than 99.9% of the population.
  8. Totally agree Mike but we both know at head office your quips are "plan a"
  9. You also missed off the jubilee cup where from memory leg 1 was staged at kings lynn and leg 2 is awaited in the same breath as "the godfather part 4" and 'the long good friday part 2"
  10. Eastbourne is surely the most logical answer to a 6th team, it's a speedway town and has a very large catchment area in the south east of England.
  11. If he is thinking of attempting a come back, it will be interesting to know where he will get his kit from, or more to the point the money to get some decent kit. Back then he had no money https://www.gmp.police.uk/news/greater-manchester/news/news/2020/october/a-man-who-burgled-a-disabled-mans-home-before-robbing-an-elderly-woman-at-knifepoint-has-been-jailed/.
  12. I think being taken seriously isn't a measure that those who run the sport ever chase.. In the recent past we have had a plan to swap guests after the first leg of the top league play off final, meaning they ride for both teams, (eventually called off in the days leading up to the final)... Last season a seven team league couldn't get completed on time so the play offs took place using a cut off date, only for the league to be completed, with the result rendering the play off semis being "wrong" when aligned to the rules of them... And who can forget the play offs being changed for "commercial reasons" with the qualification positions being rode roughshod over, even after a full season of matches being completed with paying customers attending the qualifiers, "in good faith"... Div Two last year saw three guests in a PO Semi and this is a sport that allows teams to swap and change divisions on a "whim" to suit their own agenda, rather than being down to any actual attainment level, or size of club... And there will be a myriad of other examples where those in charge have made decisions which suggest it isn't taken too seriously... To be honest though, I get why being "taken seriously" isn't something high on the agenda given the lack of rewards for being successful, and, given the sport is now pretty much down to the "die hards", (who show that "Any Speedway" served up is good enough for them), regardless of the credibility of the actual offering.. Therefore, you can see why promoters run the sport the way they do.. Many now attend with their priority being watching the entertainment on offer, and also to see a variety of teams turning up, unfortunately, "small leagues" take away one of the "few pulls" to keep them interested..
  13. Would be loose change for him, to be able to keep a local sporting club going
  14. Today
  15. All KL fans slagging off Cook last season now reading in this thread all seem happy he's in the team. Would say you couldn't make it up but with speedway fans makes perfect sense....
  16. Ben Cook had his KL contract for 2026 before the end of this past season!!
  17. A different format for cup competition could give other teams a chance of silverware, particularly if raced towards the end of the season - maybe a four/five team tournament at each track (excluding the league winners) with the final against the league winners? Just brain-farting this idea 🤪
  18. He hasn't had many seasons at Premiership level though, I think with an injury free season he can improve above Lawson, he was not far behind Lawson at Poole and I think he is a better rider now.
  19. Looks a decent Team, but for me there are couple of Question Marks to be answered. Will the 2 new foreign acquisitions live up to expectations, will Hodder improve much on last season. Will Hagon show up better now at reserve again .
  20. I’ve spoke to 2 former promoters recently who have looked at it and have both said the same, it’s too much money with no gaurentee of a fan base
  21. Play offs for promotion I understand, not for winning a league. Premier league is point and case, if you are the best over a prolonged period you deserve to be champions. That is simply facts.
  22. You do have to seriously question the sanity of anyone who tries to open up a Speedway team at Northampton, don't you? Established, historical, top league tracks often dont even get just 1500 a week, so what type of crowd number would a new venture get? Especially one, "outside of town"..... It cannot be a realistic option surely to open a new track, and go straight into the top league with all the costs involved of trying to be competitive at that level?
  23. I was more talking about people on here rather than the 'powers that be'. Some are talking as if it is just as simple as "it's a shale track so we can race on it". It's also going to need a lot of work on track prep during the season or we will see a hell of a lot of rain offs. Having been to a few wet meetings there in the last few years, I have seen it resemble anything from a ploughed field to an ice rink. It's a very different surface to some other shale tracks.
