  1. Past hour
  2. Yeah I've got it - too many involved lack the ambition, ability and skills to promote and progress the sport
  3. looks like team not sorted so probably true about being let down by a rider from Denmark. Did hear that a rider was recommended by Jonas Jeppeson but subsequently lost a major sponsor.
  4. WOW!!! I had to check Mike - I thought it was Sir Keir Starmer posting. 😉
  5. If Flagrag is lurking do you have any updates your able to share as to whats going on behind the scenes good or bad ?
  6. Maybe waiting until after the AGM is it still scheduled for 6th January or is it another big secret
  7. Thank you for the update. I can only admire your patience and tenacity. Recently saw pictures of the local area being seriously flooded, including the nearby Railway Station.
  8. For me the "big drop" started when the GP's meant weekend matches still got planned in even though ”star men" would clearly be missing... Meaning Guestfests became the norm, and not the exception... Good news for the clubs though as they didn't have the highest earners to pay, but bad news for the fans... Then Poland kicked in and meetings got arranged when the riders could be there, rather than when the fans could be tagenda, or, even more Guesfests took place knowing riders wouldn't be there.... Add in dozens of third rate journeymen foreigners taking the places of fourth rate UK lads (who could have developed into third rate riders and maybe even more), and you delivered an ever dwindling offer to an ever dwindling fan base.... It was quite telling to read in a recent Speedway Star about the signing of Zach Cook for Poole, and how his Polish contract will impact his appearances... His Promoter said that they would do their best to work around his Polish commitments when Poole are away riding at a weekend track, however, "some clashes will be inevitable", but "the most important thing is he will be available for every Poole home meeting"... So, I presume, a guest will come in when he cannot be there, or RR is used.. Some things never change in UK Speedway it seems...
  9. Today
  10. With the top league clubs starting without any tv deal and some loosing sponsors I guess some will be loosing £60/70k before they pay a penny on riders signing on fee etc why are they going to help a nomad club start up ? I am pretty sure there is no new club coming next year but only time will tell
  11. I don’t know, got to be honest this latest news has sort of knocked the wind out of my sails and at this moment I’ve got no appetite for British speedway at all
  12. The Dean Machine .... theres a common theme here with Speedway being kicked out of stadia, whilst the stadia continue operating other sports be it greyhounds stock cars etc. Do I sense that speedway racing and all its baggage is just too much hassle for stadia owners.
  13. A few weeks back me and another person contacted entain via monmore green to see if there was any chance of getting wolves back at monmore, nothing to do with the previous promotion, there was a plan on the email which I won’t go into but we spoke to the manager at the stadium who told us it wasn’t the stadium who kicked the speedway out it was entain themselves, he told us to write an email to entain and he would forward it to the relevant people for us, we had a reply today from entain via the stadium manager and it’s a NO 🥲 at this present time, sorry wolves fans, never give up
  14. Leicester was but the BSPL statement was the day after me and I don’t care if it was me or not the point being its disrespectful from the bspl
  15. I think it was longer ago than that Mike in my view it started when Penhall retired, then Lee went off the rails, followed by the sad losses of Carter and Sanders in fairly short succession you had four of the biggest names gone in a few years and it just seemed to be the start of the downhill slide. I was speaking to one of my oldest friends the other day and we were talking about the year when Lynn had Bob Schwartz leading us and I don't think we won a match all year as we were so weak but like now no help was given to strengthen up. New greats did appear in Crump and T Rick and the Sky millions as we all know that was the golden opportunity to reset and stop the rot but was wasted by the short sightedness of those at the top who thought the golden goose would last forever and the number one's at the time hoovering the trough clean and once said trough was empty most left the UK for the new full trough of Poland. I would love to see a new crop of young Americans come through in the Penhall, Moran's. King, Hancock and Hamill mould the test match's against the USA were brilliant back in the day but sadly other than Steve Evans efforts the USA are in an even worse place than us which really does take some effort to achieve.
  16. The Spires won't be back... ...although I do keep hearing rumours of other teams trying to run at Sandy Lane. Madness if you ask me, but stranger things have happened.
  17. Don't think you will find to many crowing over Laguta in the UK Dean.
  18. As was always going to be the ultimate outcome from around two decades ago... Short term decision making , after short term decision making, after short term decision making... Years of.... No Leadership, No Strategy, No Vision, and No Growth Plan.... A perfect scenario to deliver precisely what we have today... No surprises though, as what we have today has been called out as the only outcome possible, on here, for years.... You can only presume therefore, that the Promoters didn't see the obvious only outcome of their year on year actions..? Which, given they are the ones trying to sort out the current self inflicted situation, doesn't exactly fill you with confidence does it?
  19. And even a huge influx of cash will only delay the inevitable. we need a independent body with a long term plan. Two divisions of similar size with promotion and relegation. two of British speedways successes are Team GB and BSN. Both nothing to do with current promotions.
  20. I'm not sure all of those were in the entertainment industry, went to prison for a crime and then returned to the entertainment industry. And even for those that did 2026 is a very different time to when those in your list served their time in today's age it's quite a rarity. I'm comparing Garrity to Rolf Harris in as much as he was an entertainer and went to prison and never returned to the industry.
  21. Not wishing to rain on your parade but surely the BSPL statement was the result of Leicester breaking ranks and issuing a statement.
  22. From a brief Google search. Tim Allen - Hollywood actor Robert Downey jr Kiefer Sutherland George Michael Mark Wahlberg Stephen Fry Ozzy Osbourne (Burglary!) Leslie Grantham Jeffrey Archer Johnny Vaughan Finally, are you seriously comparing him to Rolf Harris? At least try and think before you post!
  23. So basically we are headed for (at best) a semi professional set up I the UK See above - if that is true and we can't even attract and afford up and coming U21 riders what chance those in the category you mention I'm coming to the conclusion that there will not be any common ground between enough clubs to be able to get ANYTHING agreed let alone work UK Speedway is f@c£Ed barring a miracle influx of cash from a currently unforseen siurce
  24. Just to 'muddy the waters' a little more, CL's old pal Matt Ford is moving back to UK after 7 years living in France!!!!😉
