What about Northampton?
THE DEAN MACHINE replied to RoundTheBoards's topic in SGB Premiership Speedway League
Speedway was a massive sport in my school even in the early 80s, we had a huge 15ft speedway painting on the wall above the science block that was painted by a pupil years before, 2 of my teachers were speedway fans, we had quite a few cycle speedway riders as pupils who raced for the Wednesfield aces and pretty much all of my mates rode it, although we had a couple of lads who dabbled in either speedway or Grasstrack I think I was the only one who went on to actually race it, we also had a few motox riders too,we also had a school classmate who went on to play basketball in America, his name was Spencer dunkley he went on to have quite the career over there ( Wikipediaās has his career )though but on the whole I would say speedway was massive in my school and although I played football for the school I didnāt really notice that football was really big but maybe I was slightly blinkered by bikes and I have told this bit before but on my last school report it actually said Dean could do a lot better if he learnt that there is more to life than 2 wheels, oh how wrong they were š -
JOKING ASIDE NOW LETS BE SERIOUS. The light turns green, the dirt starts to fly, A speedway rider with a gleam in his eye. Heās got no brakes and a frame made of grit, Just a heavy steel shoe and a "don't care" bit. He slides through the corner at a forty-degree bend, Praying the fence isn't his newest best friend. The bikeās screaming loud, the crowdās in a daze, While heās lost in a thick, methanol-scented haze. He finishes the heat, all covered in muck, And says to his mechanic, "Well, that was some luck! I didn't hit anyone, I stayed on the track, Now help me find where I left my lower back."

What exactly do you mean by āthink things through for the longer-termā? What is there to be thought through that will benefit us long-term? This isnāt quantum physics, Ian. Itās planning the same seasonās meetings, but with less clubs due to aforementioned decline, since 1929. Every close season represents an opportunity for the BSPL to reset and rebuild. Yet, at arguably the most challenging period in the UK sportsā history, weāve encountered a ridiculously delayed fixture list and the exciting, groundbreaking outcome from the annual AGM that.. wait for it⦠the side who scored less in qualifying will get first gate pick in the Championship Pairs.
