Managed to watch about 5 heats of Gorzow v Wroclaw. Dreadful. I assume Czestochowa humiliation in Lublin isn't worth watching? -

Speakers on the home straight were crap also have been for at least two years. I don’t know who’s responsibility they are but maybe some joint fundraising between the football clubs and the speedway is needed to replace some of the older kit. I’m no good at organisation but would happily help out if it means we can hear the results and times. - Today

Transponders arent always reliable. Ive seen it many times where a the video footage contradicts the transponder. In fact, I believe it happened at Berwick last season between Troy and Hagon. -
I dont see who's average will drop to allow the shuffle though. Jamie will remain at 2 pts, but everyone else looks likely to increase theirs.

Ill never slate a young lad, but hes been thrown in the deep end and is struggling. Sam Mcgurk was a gamble, but I understood why they gambled. He was a good rider at NDL level, especially around workington. He was also, alot of the time, on the pace with others at home, he just couldn't gate. Jamie is, unfortunately, a couple of years off this level. He can't gate, and he gets further and further behind as the race progresses. He could maybe fix it but he'd have to be up at northside practicing at every opportunity, which I dont think he can due to where he lives.

No problem with the stream I watched on my laptop.

Lawson & Nicholls @ No.3 & 4. I admire Paul Hurry's faith in Scotty but neither of them have a liking for the NSS. I would've gone -> 1. Brennan, 2. Nicholls, 3. Lawson, 4. King, 5. Musielak

I'm still waiting for a reply from them as to why they docked Workington league points last year... as soon as I get that I'll follow it up with this 😂 -

Correct. Perhaps that was because what seems to be the two main proponents of this arrangement have chosen - though goodness knows why - to say nothing in public so SCB felt the need to fill the void. You’ll need to ask them, though, why they chose to make it factual but very limited. -
Was there something wrong with the speakers on the back straight? The old boy next to us couldn’t hear a thing. I struggled, but had to give him the times after most heats. I think Shielfield’s one of the only tracks where even without a great deal of passing, the racings exciting. Seeing riders navigate those top two bends is superb.

I feel like this perspective is shared by those running British speedway and in my opinion, it’s the biggest reason British speedway will die (as a competitive sport) in the not too distant future. Far too many people tolerate mediocrity and outright amateurish standards, accusing those (myself included) who demand standards and improvement as ”moaners” and ”negative”. We all want the same thing; British speedway to thrive, but I believe some of use are already anticipating what is coming while others bury their heads in the sand.

I’m pretty sure that Reid won heat 2 last night.George Dodds has that one wrong. -
Rolling averages should be set now for May as KO cup matches won’t count. Jeppesen 8.48 Cook 8.35 Batchelor 6.75 Zischke 5.23 Jakobsen 5.00 Foord 3.89 Etherington 2.00 39.70 Max Perry would be 2.29 so would come in at 39.99 if Max came in for Jamie.

Read somewhere that the transponders called the result and ref wanted a 2nd opinion, but also read a few times in the past, that the transponders don't always work 🤔 apparently Godfrey organised a supplier for them so that explains a lot 😜 -

Think most people thought Lambert was 3rd.Surely the Ref doesn’t need Video if they have transponders though. -

Walked the track before the meeting yesterday and it has a new mix of Grano dirt in it, which hasn’t been used before. Used to absorb the moisture in the track and avoid future rain offs. Could see it working yesterday by how dry the track was in the end. The imminent move away from afternoon racing will help massively by keeping the sun off it, as the track gets no shade.
