  1. Past hour
  2. And you think there's going to be another announcement? You've been in this game long enough to know how British Speedway works. I'll bet anyone on here good money that we won't hear a thing today - once again leaving fans in the dark.
  3. Yes he did quite a few laps, looked like he hadn't been away
  4. Should be Poole at home next Saturday
  5. Did Nicholls do any laps after the meeting? How did he look?
  6. I would think we will be lucky to get our home meeting on NEXT SAT 12th July ! These things can take weeks to sort out. I hope I am wrong, but only time will tell.
  7. Yes, much to our detriment 🤬
  8. Would be nice to see the attendance figures from each track, probably some would be too embarrassed to show them
  9. All attention for Stars fans now turns to Monday at home against Sheffield… and with only Leicester not riding we’ll be screwed if both Jan and Ben aren’t back 🤷🏻‍♂️
  10. Looking at the current state of UK Speedway, if it was my lad I am not sure I would encourage him to try and be a Speedway rider... Only the very, very few, get to earn the big money and, as we will see I am sure soon, the sport over here will be lowering its outgoings significantly.. Not many top riders "suddenly" come good like Jason Doyle did, most clearly stood out by the time they were 20, with some even at 16... Given the sports issues, I would think a fair few parents will be asking themselves honestly if their kid has what it takes to be a top level rider.. Because, if the kid hasn't, and he will just be an average rider, I can't see them making much money over here for at least the next decade or so, and maybe never...
  11. Yes but if the issues, whatever they are, have not be resolved, someone has to make a statement today to say what may or may not be happening. I'm a comet's fan and hope they pull through this hiccup And the someone will have to be both bspa and comets management imo
  12. I would prob wait for another announcement tbh as Worky said they were going to make a statement to the fans when everything was sorted.
  13. I have debating these very questions for a while now and there was a piece in the speedway star last week prompted by me about the modern bikes in the modern era are not going any faster than the bikes of by gone years, I was using the race times at Sheffield as an example, the times last night at Sheffield were around the 61-63 seconds mark which is the same times as Hans Nielsen and Shaun Moran at the same track in the 80s, now track surfaces, tyres and silencers are a factor but the fact remains we are going no faster despite the ÂŁ1000s thrown at it, what is going faster is the back wheel speed but the bike speed is roughly the same, an interesting video to watch is Dan bewley riding a godden at Workington when he out with another rider on his modern laydown and how the godden pulls better out of start to first corner, when they were going round you can here the godden struggling for revs coming off the corners but holding its own speed wise but Dan is on an untuned engine with probably the wrong gearing which eventually blows up, so imagine if it was a tuned up godden with the right gearing ?
  14. Today
  15. Hi Dean, May I ask you a hypothetical question? I respect the fact that you have ridden these machines at a professional level. The rest of us only dreamed of that. Do you think Penhall on Weslake, Gundersen on an upright GM or NIelsen on a Godden would get close to a decent rider on modern equipment? I'm not asking if modern riders are better, but how far behind would a World Champion of their era be behind, say, a GP Final today, in your opinion. All for fun and discussion!
  16. https://britishspeedway.co.uk/cab-direct-championship/bsp-statement-workington-speedway/ https://workingtoncomets.com/workington-speedway-statement-2/ Seven days are up, and there's been no mention of it being extended, so.....
  17. best crowd of the season, good to see, lets not get carried away with the attendance figure mentioned on the forum that was a wild guess and wrong
  18. Hoping for a good ride for the British boys although, as an Ipswich supporter I'm really looking forward to see D. Thompson.
  19. Fair play to the Stars select side last night. Although a 16-point defeat is still a decent margin, I think the score flattered Leicester a tad considering my expectation was they’d hit 60 easily. Having attended the meeting, one thing that stood out to me was what lovely fans Leicester have.
  20. Nice to see young Cairns winning his first ever race at PL level. That'll be something he always remembers.
