Recommending to the young British lads to ride in Poland as much as they can given the money involved will help future equipment budgets, and give them the required level of pressure to perform, given you don't get a job for a season like you do over here when of a certain level.. The more these lads compete in the International events the more they will get noticed, therefore more power to them... The very top of fhe tree can earn well over £3 million for five years of riding in Poland, (life changing money), whereas you could ride 25 years in the UK, (unless something dramatically changes money wise), and not earn the same... Best of luck to these lads in their journey, as it does look like maybe half a dozen of them have at least a chance of reaching international class... But time doesnt wait for any of them, and there will be plenty of riders of their age around the globe wanting the same, therefore every opportunity to get themselves noticed has to be taken...

Most clubs make season tickets cheaper than paying for every meeting, Workington have 3 bands all with free parking, others work out a free meeting or free program and saving a few more £s on the weekly price

I think the big question must be, How many of those that post on these forums no longer attend live speedway events on a regular basis? We all know about the value (or lack of) in the current format. But from what I see & hear people are happier to find a reason not to go to speedway rather than go & take somebody else. Meetings are so long drawn out affairs with tractors on the track more than the bikes. at interval after 10 races then another stop whilst we select 4 riders for a single race. Advertised start times 19:30 but heat one is off at 20:00. If meetings were to start at the advertised time & run the full 15 heats before an interval which would include a victory parade & interviews then 6/7 races in a second half. Stock cars & bangers attract large crowds as it's the same drivers each time & there are family rivals & some times a smashed car will give birth to a large red steaming driver that will move 2 metres at alarming speed to argue with another large red steaming driver

I’m exactly the same. It’s nice getting one in the build up to a new season and having your whole year paid up and done. I also like the fact the season ticket gate opens up earlier than the main gates and I just waltz through without queuing. Little things yes, but handy all the same. My nephew never gets one but still goes to 99% of the fixtures so whenever I either don’t feel like going one week, or can’t for whatever reason, I let him use my season ticket number so he gets free entry so in my mind I haven’t lost any value. Again like you, it doesn’t bother me one bit that the club has put on a fiver discount for Monday’s meeting and I don’t feel cheated in any way. We have two home meetings in four days and he’s thinking of the supporters pockets, good on him. Despite a small minority who strangely enjoy having a pop at him (probably because he has the gall to not be Ipswich legend Chris Louis), I think Coleman has been a breath of fresh air and made a good impression in his first year.

Yes but I would not travel to Poole to watch the pairs or riders championship, but when the Comets go I have a couple of days on the south coast as a holiday, my wife gets it as a break to follow the Comets, but does not get it to follow just speedway. And I must admit after what is going on in the speedway world, regarding big gaps in the fixtures I am losing interest in the sport I've been watching every year since 1970, Comets or no Comets

On average only 50% of the crowd buy a programme, this year less fans are travelling because of fuel prices and idiotic arrangement of speedway fixtures. Clubs don’t want to be left with unsold programmes.

Pretty sure football season tickets give you financial gain though? I know it secures your seat as seats are sought after in football, especially the prem. As for Ipswich Witches, I can safely get a ticket every meeting in a matter of minutes and sit wherever I want in the stand for no charge or stand where I want, a season ticket gives you literal no advantage over just booking each week, at least mine didn’t. If anything it gives you financial loss if so many are rearranged and you can’t go to the re runs, whereas on the day you’ll never be in that situation as you just want buy them if it’s raining and called off.

A sad indictment of the sport (in the UK), but maybe, in house streaming will deliver better income than the money any TV company is prepared to pay to cover the play offs?.. Are BSN doing a "play off special offer"? Covering all 12 meetings in both leagues?.. I would suggest £120 for all 12 could get a decent response given how many "generic" Speedway fans there are in the UK..

BSN can only broadcast one match at a time and also people may decide to stay at home to watch the other meeting

I think what last night demonstrated is that A} Leicester were correct in not resigning Fricke B} Despite what many Leicester fans thought in the closed season Douglas is a real number 1 and they were right to build a team around him.

Season tickets rarely offer much financial gain but I have one as it saves the faff of booking for each meeting and means Mum & I are in the same seats every meeting, have been for years. It’s also said it gives the club a financial boost pre season which helps at a time of no income. I’m never bothered if special deals crop up like Richard’s £5 discount and think clubs should do more of this to boost interest.

I think Lynn are the Everton of speedway, never really any good but always are in the top flight season after season, when i first starting watching speedway Lynn always finished finished bottom but bar a couple of years the sport has never had relegation. Probably down to the owners over the years especially Buster running a tight ship, Lynn were never the big named team like Coventry or Cradley and others, but they are still going.

I bought a “late season ticket” for £100 for 5 meetings. When they postponed the last match (weather was fine) and rearranged for this week I knew I couldn’t go as I travelled to Gorzow. I emailed them saying it was pointless me buying the season ticket, they responded with “you have still saved some money and we will give you a programme”. They were hinting that I’ve still saved £5. Then two days later they wrote they are giving a discount of £5 to that match, bearing in mind I actually never want a programme, so I basically am no better off, which isn’t the end of the world and I’m not that fussed. What it did show me is that season tickets are pointless in speedway because one or two rain offs and if you can’t make the re runs then you don’t save any more. I’ll never invest in another season ticket again in this sport.

If the meeting started at 2pm even the most inept member of the BSPL could surely manage to get the meeting done dusted by the time the curfew hits. For those who stayed over on the saturday night for the GP most would not need to stay on the sunday, for those travelling, fair enough it could be a long day. For example think of yourself and supporters of other teams up North and abroad. Berwick, Redcar, Workington, Edinburgh and Glasgow. Is it easier for those supporters to travel to Manchester and back home on the sameday,than travel to Poole.

Yoyu would think when the likes of Redcar,Glasgow,Edinburgh,Workington are in town there would be more proggies printed.

If it's not being shown on TV is there any reason why both semi finals can't be on the same day? Allow both clubs to choose a Monday or a Thursday for their home leg? Any reason why after finishing top not to allow Belle Vue to race away on Thursday 24th & home on Monday 28th? Could even run 2nd vs 3rd on Thursday 17th as Lynn are fighting for 4th place?

Normally a mixture of paying at the gate and tickets for me. Just tried last night and this morning and not showing. Tried just now and it seems to be showing now.

Clubs often offer a free programme to season ticket holders in situations like these.

The failure to reach the top four wont be because of last night, its the three home defeats and the loss and Northampton. Fricke has regressed, Kvech & Cook havent kicked on and they made a dog's breakfast of the Castagna/Jenkins spot. All a bit of an underwhelming mess unfortunately. Cooper and Jody have been the bright spot.

Was going to try and book tickets last night for the Redcar meeting and it says no events currently listed. Anyone else having any bother?

The stars look very strong on paper, the likes of Ben Cook under perform in the UK, Fricke is nowhere near as dominant, especially at home as he was for Leicester. I guess you could say the same for the Czech kid, he could potentially do better, and of course Bomber is Bomber. Kings Lynn aren't the only team to suffer these under achieving teams though, its happened to Ipswich often. I don't really think speedway team managers have the ability to improve performances to the extent required though, yes they can motivate certain riders, but if they can't be arsed in the UK, why bother with them in the first place?...The likes of Zagar and co are proof of that....Easy money springs to mind.

Lynn not for the first time have a side that looks great on paper but falls short. Is Lyon a good a manager as what people say? Lets be honest, he done well with them in the old Premier League but some of the teams built it would of been hard not to do well they were that strong. Since rejoining the top division, they have been nearer the bottom than the top most of the time and mainly under Lyon's management. The sad thing is the stadium, from what I remember, was more than decent for a speedway stadium, good fanbase and large crowds. With the right management it should be a thriving club.
