  1. Past hour
  2. I genuinely had no idea who she was before reading this thread so can't comment on that side except that it would be interesting to know how they came to the decision to choose her for it. It just looks so amateur though. Cameo is to wish people happy birthday or see who's dumb enough to say hello to Mike Hunt, not for what should be a serious competition in a professional sport. You even have the final two sides picked out at the same time! Getting 'a name' to do the draw is a solid idea but surely there were better ways of going about it. As an example TNT commentator Darren Fletcher has some history with the sport, could he have been asked and maybe got someone like Ally McCoist to help out, if I remember correctly he's mentioned Glasgow on his radio show in the last year or so.
  3. I did not sub to BSN in 2025 and not because of their service but they can only work with what they are given and the product of British Speedway is in the main crap. I don't have a team to support anymore so as a neutral i want to see good racing and most tracks now are so slick because the bikes cant handle anything else. There is no variety with so few clubs and riders riding for multiple, for me its not worth it. Nor do i have cable tv sky etc I stick with watching highlights on social media and looking through more vintage stuff (ie pre laydowns)
  4. Difficult to predict. 😀 2019 Poole sorry I mean Leicester beat Glasgow 2020 Poole v Glasgow* 2021 Poole beat Glasgow 2022 Poole beat Glasgow 2023 Glasgow beat Poole 2024 Poole beat Glasgow oops I mean Oxford 2025 Poole beat Glasgow 2026 Poole v Glasgow To soften the blow of three play off defeats to Poole, Glasgow beat Edinburgh when they met for the tenth time last season. *postponed due to Covid. 2019, Poole were unable to meet Glasgow in the play offs as they were in a different league.
  5. On the other hand, the stand-alone teams need good riders to attract a good crowd.
  6. Today
  7. Welcome aboard fella! The club you never want to join and the one you hope beyond hope you will be able to rescind membership to at some time in the future Unfortunately after originally only accepting a temporary paper membership certificate for it I have just renewed with a fully laminated version
  8. Don't worry, things are happening "behind the scenes" and there's 2 big things happening, one is 99% (that could have been Linda Lucardigate) and the other 90% and if they both come off... Speedway in the UK will be just like Polish Speedway, and you can take that to the bank 😂
  9. That paper bag was used in the retakes, she used Rob Godfreys bobble hat for the first!
  10. White City took Oxford Rebels licence in season 1976 - and most of Oxfords team.
  11. I'm pretty sure you and others of this mindset will change your minds come March if the worst happens.
  12. The whole Premiership situation is a disaster.Virtually total silence to the fans who they expect just to turn up and pay their money. The Premiership is on its knees and cannot survive much longer in this situation,no one with any sense is going to invest in something that looks like it’s in dire trouble. Speedway needs total rethink in GB.2 leagues with the same riders in both is not the long Term answer .IMO.
  13. Poole to steamroller everyone The set up in the Championship is not really different to that in the Premiership demonised by many For Ipswich/Belle Vue hoovering up 4 GP stars leaving Oxford and and Birmingham as fodder in 2025 you will have Poole/Glasgow doing similar whilst Scunthorpe/Workington flounder in 2026
  14. Oxford have had a Whatsapp channel for the best part of a year now, probably longer.
  15. On the plus side some fence panels passed! Sheesh only in British speedway is a team introduced to the league prior to passing a track inspection. Hopefully all just minor and easily resolvable issues.....
  16. There’ll be season tickets and they’ll be discounted. How many actually gets sold is anyone’s guess. My guess is nowhere near as many as last year! I’ve had a pop before about this forum being full of miserable b@stards and everyone being glass half empty and seemingly whinging about anything and everything. But I’m now a fully paid up member. I’m bored to tears with it all and I’ve got to the point where I’m not all that bothered whether we run or not. They need to put all their efforts in to Northampton to get a fifth team running, let them sign the riders earmarked for Ipswich and let them crack on with it. Absolutely desperate stuff all round. They need to make sure they have a cunning plan for 2027 because another winter like this would practically kill it all off stone dead.
  17. A few years ago this division was as almost perfect as it could have been... Competitive meetings with a mix of experienced riders and new riders developing... I can only presume it was seen by some as "too good", and much better than what was being delivered, for considerably higher entrance fees, in other leagues, so changes were made..
  18. 70/71 close season: Allied Presentations swapped the licences as they ran both tracks. Reading inherited Michanek, Curtis, Gifford and Lovaas. Newcastle then promptly relocated to Sunderland for 4 years.
  19. It's pretty simple, they will release the news when it's ready. I'm sure not having season tickets for a year isnt really a problem. In fact with so few meetings the last thing they will want to do is also give a discount.
  20. Very much doubt it. The Star wouldn’t get that exclusive before the official Ipswich socials.
  21. Looking at all the teams so far I must say it looks the most competitive championship in a while. My team Poole look really good with Cairns and Rushen at reserve with decent top end if Lawson and Cook and solid enough with the middle order riders I feel both reserves and 2nd strings will all have 5-6pt averages come the end of the season and I feel Poole will be the team to beat again. With regards to other teams Oxford- look definate play off team and for me the main threat to Poole. Regarding other play off teams I think it’s wide open for the other 2 spots every team looks decent enough. Think Scunthorpe will be rock bottom awful looking team imo. Thoughts….
  22. ... yet Lynn are staging an FIM event this year
  23. I think this is a league where the old elite league fast track format would work best i.e heat leaders against heat leaders & reserves against reserves more often. I don't actually see the need for a 2.00 minimum average. The downside of the 3.00 minimum is a rider with a 3.5 average gets dropped for a 3 point rider to fit under the limit. Now it's even worse a 2.5 averaged rider could miss out because clubs need a 2 pointer. Surely someone running a 2.5 NL average should have no barriers to finding a team spot?
  24. Personally the likes of Mulford (too good?) & Lambert (experienced) spearheading Lynn doesn't bother me. Mulford is still only 21 & has a sub 5 Champ average, almost surprised the Jack Smith singing didn't get more negativity, I'd suggest Mulford has more development on him than Smith? As for Lambert, I'd hope his experience would be helpful to his teammates, likewise with Smith at Buxton. I like that the points limit was raised to 42, which is only equal to last year's standard, as everyone's average should rise in a low limit, to stop improving riders missing out (ideally). Even if I considered Mulford & Lambert to be taking places away from more "deserving" development riders, I still appreciate that Lynn would be giving 5 team spots & 10 league matches to "genuine" development league riders, which is more than every club who didn't enter the NDL!
  25. Interesting that FIM has not homologated the polyfoam barrier but SCB licences it. I wonder why that might be?
