  1. Past hour
  2. Major controversy incoming for the Play-Offs. Again, Belle Vue have instructed their solicitors vs the BSPL, who have notified the remainder of the league of the circumstances. Before a wheel was turned in March, Belle Vue had instructed their Play-Offs opposition which had been verbally agreed by the Chaiman of the BSPL. So, following the agreement made in March the Play-Offs will be as followed........ Semi Final 1: Belle Vue vs Birmingham - 1st leg NSS / 2nd leg NSS Final: Belle Vue vs Oxford - 1st leg at NSS / 2nd leg NSS Semi Final 2: Ipswich vs Sheffield - Postponed Leicester: Withdrawn from the Play-Offs due to to many illegal immigrants in the City. Of course, this is absolutely, 100% (not) fact & know how Belle Vue & some fans like to cry about the injustice they suffer & highlight how great they are. Even with all this, Leicester still win the league 😛😛
  3. Shano, it is a worry that your team is not performing, but would expect they can beat Rybnik and then Bydgosz/Leszno. Admittedly it is no certainty.
  4. I agree under the current rules a rider racing 2 home & 4 away will gain an average. But I don't remember them ever changing a legitimate average, once rules have been changed in later seasons. Not including re-assessed averages. Heck I even remember 20 years ago Ipswich having to sign Protasiewicz on an average that included bonus points, when no one else's average included them after a rule change.
  5. I would say that the finishing places in the league will be same as they are at the present. (1st) Ipswich (2nd) Leicester (3rd) Sheffield (4th) Belle Vue
  6. I'm sure Lambert will get a wildcard, Doyle probably less likely if he's the 4th best Aussie. I'm not saying it's right, but nationality makes a difference to who gets a pick.
  7. Totally correct Doyle has been a mainstay and totally loyal to speedway in the UK, that is fact. I also applaud Ipswich to agreeing to quick arrangement getting this fixture sorted before the Play Offs.
  8. Today
  9. I'd give Doyle a wildcard if they are still against Laguta and Sayfutdinov, but would put those 2 in front of him for sure.
  10. Agree and probably should have had another win and an LCQ place on Saturday.
  11. What a load of twaddle! Doyle is one of the most loyal non-Brits to British Speedway. It's not his fault the fixture has been rearranged and it coincides with a commitment he's contracted to elsewhere. It's a rock-and-a-hard-place for the Witches, who have managed to find guests for both missing riders.
  12. Ipswich have done the right thing by agreeing to a re-staging to give the best chance of the league fixtures being completed. Last week people were complaining that the play-offs could be decided on an incomplete table. Which is the best scenario? PS: Sayfutdinov is the Witches #1 ...
  13. About twenty years ago we investigated the possibility of a Speedway return to Sunderland on behalf of Tony Mole. At the time, if I remember correctly, Newcastle was a National League Track. Tony was proposing to open up as a Conference League Track. Whilst we had about two meetings at the Stadium, they would not entertain a Team at Sunderland racing in a lower League than Newcastle. They were however receptive to, and listened to us and heard us out. We informed Tony Mole of their position and left it with him. No further action was taken. I suppose that being as we got our Meetings that it was NOT a definite NO from the Stadium, they never said that. Perhaps now that Newcastle has gone, it may be worth another try. Some Promoter can only ask. We would definitely need the support of Newcastle Supporters too, in order to make it a viable concern. Given the response to Sunderland in the 1970's, I would like to think things have changed, and that we could all get together to support a Sunderland Team in the North East for the benefit of BOTH Cities. Many things will have changed in the ensuing twenty years. Maybe Steve is right and that there is NO chance - but - if you don't ask, you don't get.
  14. To be clear. Doyle doesn’t have a choice where he rides as he is contracted to a Swedish team who have race night priority.
  15. Only guessing but it is SGP2 on Friday night, 12th September, so assuming Jake Mulford & Dan Thompson will be missing, hence racing on Sunday 🤷‍♂️
  16. If that happens I’ll give you the money meself.
  17. Correct. Ipswich need a point, so even a draw and a superheat defeat at Foxhall Thursday would see us top.
  18. If you were bothered whether you wanted to win or not you wouldn't agree to re-stage a meeting without your number 1!
  19. I'm not sure that the Hundred is a drastic shake up in comparison to Twenty 20, other than having much more money thrown at it, being marketed to a different audience and getting much more TV exposure- all of which could have happened with the existing Twenty 20 format. And, as I say, it is rumoured that once more franchises are taken over by IPL owners it will become a Twenty 20 tournament. So it isn't the format necessarily. However, speedway needs to think about how cricket attracted all fry eoukd be happy to that and carried out the marketing. Strangely enough, a lot of what you propose, and I agree with, already happens at most IOW meetings. If only BSPL would have a discussion with Barry and Martin about what works and what doesn't I'm sure they would be happy to help
  20. So I make points difference Ipswich +180, Sheffield +181. So Sheffield can still finish top with 2 wins against Ipswich?
  21. https://ipswichwitches.co/raceday-guide-sheffield-a-3/ Harris guests for Doyle, Howarth for Ellis
  22. Hardly a case of not being “bothered” is it? It’s a rearranged fixture and the semi finals start next Monday so the fixture had to be squeezed in this week. They’ll have known riders had existing commitments Wednesday, but had little choice but to accept the fixture date.
