  1. Past hour
  2. Bowes out for the season due to a 3-6 month recovery period from a 'bulging disc'!! Pirates have til their next meeting on 15th July (assuming England aren't in the World Cup semi final that day) to source a suitable replacement.
  3. Is there a case for changing the way in which rolling averages work? Currently at Ipswich Tom Brennan is still heading the rolling averages with 7.24 but his actual 2026 average is 6.49 his 7.24 means he has to line up at number 1 but due to his very bad start to the season, possibly due to his leg break in the winter, Musielak, King & Lawson are all above him on 2026 figures. Should team assembly be done to rolling averages and riding position based on actual in year averages? Tom being forced to ride at number 1, even now in July, is not doing him or Ipswich any favours at all.
  4. If one of the Northampton “directors” or whatever he calls himself, knew of Doyle’s availability, he should have been directing him there. I think now it’s pretty clear to everyone that help was initially there from certain people, to make a top league viable and nothing else. Not, to actually help that new club be competitive.
  5. We must be down to about ten of us rattling around in here now I wonder who the bookies have as the favorite to turn out the lights when the time comes.
  6. Hopefully when Zagar is back ideally for Batch they will win most home meetings he might be getting on but should still be a 6-7 point man in this league which should get them over the line assuming at least one of Lidsey or Klindt fancy it in the remaining home matches
  7. Actually it isn’t. From a fans point of view, absolutely. But I’ll tell you now there’s an awful lot of riders that hate going there. Doyle is one of them! Until now of course.. Doyle has admitted he missed racing here and wanted to come back. If Mark Lemon said to Doyle there’s one vacancy here, at Northampton, and he offered him the same deal he has for riding for Belle Vue, then he’d now be riding for Northampton it’s as simple as that. Can you imagine the impact the former world champion would have had at a new club trying to establish themselves?? It would have been HUGE for them and their gate receipts. But that didn’t happen did it? Why? You’ve even got supporters now saying they want Northampton to win their home meetings “but not this week” (sorry Phil”) so there’s always going to be self interest across the board from the top to the bottom. We all want our teams to win of course we do, that’s only natural! But we also need a creditable league so that’s a league worth winning. Belle Vue are already sure of the play offs, would it really hurt to see Northampton win a home meeting to help with their next home attendance to keep them going rather than see your team extend their lead at the top of a meaningless table? Im not saying lose it deliberately, we can’t have that nonsense either, but hoping to inflict another home defeat on the bottom club? Come on we need Northampton to succeed as well as try and entice others to join. If those lower down think the likes of Belle Vue, my own team Ipswich, and Sheffield will just hoover up all the GP riders available then they’ll have no interest in joining if they won’t be competitive. Bring in a one rider over 8 rule for next year.
  8. No,individually they are all up and down on different occasions, thus giving the results we are getting.
  9. Never a truer word said. Up the 'Bees'. How can you trust these people. Their past history says it all.
  10. It's the same Planning Organisation involved (DPP Planning), so the similarity with the Swindon situation is as plain as day.
  11. Today
  12. Belle Vue's track is a massive draw for tempting riders over/ back over.
  13. How does that work? Poole only have one vote, what about the other 8 teams? Also they tend not to vote for what Poole want.
  14. We don’t like losing riders, nobody does but if it makes our league more competitive, especially those new to our league then we will act accordingly. Seeing our lads line up at number one for the opposition is equally gutting and heartwarming and sorry for this, I think it should be replicated by other clubs. Leicester, Northampton, Birmingham/Ipswich & Kings Lynn, we are in this together.
  15. I would agree with that. Berwick would probably have kept 2, Glasgow would have kept 2 and Redcar would have kept 2. That would be 3 teams (unless Klindt had raced) looking for a rider to lead their team.
  16. You must stop urinating in your back garden.
  17. I seem to remember prior to the current bunch stepping in Flagrag mentioned polish connections so it could be something was afoot similar to what's happening at Ipswich. (Correct me if the old memory is off Flagrag). Re the old big promise of help we all knew it wouldn't be coming when the crunch came , Doyle is probably the only world class rider who could have been persuaded back this year given based in the UK and he's been loyal to British speedway for years. They really need someone in the Anders Thompson mould he's never going to be world champ but should be a 9-10 point man in UK league and equally doesn't seem to be a rider who only fancies it 50% of the time. Its a shame Tolley isn't involved as there does look to be a fan base to build on at Northampton which wasn't the case at Brum and he clearly has the kind of deep pockets needed to get a top liner over who would probably want 5-7k per meeting.
  18. "If" there is someone in the background looking to run the club next season, as was alluded to pre season, (as long as the club is a viable venture), then I would imagine a "GP rider" would stretch the budget somewhat... And "If" as was suggested, the crowd was 1000-1100 for their last meeting, then paying out £7k and maybe more, for a GP rider (for a home and away meeting), could leave the venture looking less appealing come the end of the season accounts.. You also have to ask "Who" was going to come over and ride? Who isn't already doing three leagues?... And, of those only doing two, would they want to potentially ride Mondays and Thursdays over here in a single week? And Doyle loves riding at the NSS so maybe could see more scoring potential for him (and thus, more money), than riding a brand new circuit to him.. Maybe those saying that Northampton should get a bona fide No1 could suggest one that doesnt "break the bank"....?
  19. It’s not about Belle Vue, and that’s the issue, the league is bigger than just one team, it’s in the interests of all promoters that all teams are competitive enough to at least win home matches and provide some sort of spectacle away. That was always the way back in the day, keep the home fans happy and they will keep coming back.
  20. Sounds like a Swindon swiz to me... promise a track, get the stadium knocked down then pull the rug leaving Speedway high and dry!
  21. of course it was, theyve been doing stuff like this in the off season for years.
  22. Sunday’s matches line-ups Lublin v Gorzow start time 4pm UK time. Lublin 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Gorzow 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 Grudziadz v Torun start time 6.30pm UK time Grudziadz 9 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 Torun 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8
