  1. Past hour
  2. The previous owner was always very much against top flight racing
  3. Ashton Boughen beat Doyle on Doyle’s home track last year, do you want him in the gp’s?
  4. Today
  5. The "nu age" fans in the sanitised world of modern football lap them up......
  6. Stefan Bäckström and Andreas Sundin are new team managers for Rospiggarna.
  7. I have never bought one especially not in football. I wonder how the sales of Man City v Man Utd half and half scarves go!
  8. It wasn’t so long ago that Ipswich and Sheffield were in the Championship ! And with Sheffield up for sale who’s to say the new owners could afford a Premier League.
  9. Not one of them is capable of trusting someone else, independent or not, to manage their finances or sporting affairs. Anyone who has had any nouse or enthusiasm for the bigger picture has historically been driven out of the BSPA/L even Phil Morris has capitulated and moved the goalposts two seasons in a row. We are following the Village Fete Committee and expecting them to run the Olympics- so, so sad.
  10. James Allan propably is scottish. He rode in Scottish Junior Championship '69. Saturday 11th October 1969 Albion Rovers Stadium, Coatbridge
  11. If all of the promoters actually agreed to adopt the “suggestion” as an “agreement” it would end the riders demanding more who will continue to do so simply because in the meantime some promoters will continue to pay more than the “suggestion”. Of course even if the suggestion was adopted as a rule the challenge would be to prevent the same promoters working around the agreement/rule in search of glory and ignoring the basics of cost control for the betterment of the sport rather than their own interests.
  12. He had some good meetings Poole 1st time round was one of them, but 2nd time, did not score, also very very poor at Edinburgh, wasas if he hadn't rode a motorbike before, was that bad, Poole are welcome to him, seems to carry a lot of baggage in his head !!
  13. Will be getting an early night tonight for the 6.15am flight tomorrow. I see rain is forecast to start about 6pm, just my luck🙄 Still, it may not be much/affect the track but am looking forwards to a busier stadium!
  14. Yes it is because the sport is run by the riders for the riders
  15. I understand that that is still happening today. I was speaking to the Leicester Team Manager who said that getting guests was hard as they paid what the league suggests and riders with a little experience want more than this.
  16. Still being worked on... Cue R87 posting 'Another fantasy'...
  17. Zane Keleher and Drew Kemp spring to mind
  18. He didnt get so many later in the season at Poole.
  19. Didn't he get 12/13 at Poole for Worky when he never been there before? So i can see why they would want him. Poole have had to deal with bad attitude young riders over the years, nothing new there! But probably not had it since the Prem days.
  20. Live updates tonight https://live.baansportfansite.nl/event/947/fim-speedway-of-nations-2-torun.html
  21. Not sure why, not exactly been very good out there either.
  22. Wouldn’t say the track has been the problem so much Tuesday/Wednesday, the gulf between some of the nations is massive, not exactly going to see the finish lads mining it either the Aussies and the Dane’s were we. The top nations are so much faster than the other nations it makes it a bit of a non contest as they’re several bike lengths clear going into the first bend.
  23. The whole sport is based on what individual promoters want to do... They even pick their divisions to race in, even if clearly too strong, or nowhere near strong enough, for that particular league.. For a pro sport, there are simply too many people who see it as an expensive hobby, rather than a business, so therefore, because they spend so much for hardly any material financial reward, or even local public awareness of any "success" they may get, they make up rules to circumnavigate what a "normal proper pro sport" would allow, thus driving a coach and horses through the sports credibility... It is quite a ludicrous situation that people willing to spend hundreds of thousands of pounds then devalue the very competitions they want to win, however, you, can see why they want to win them, regardless of their stature, when they spend hundreds of thousands of pounds!! I cannot think of another pro team sport in the UK with such a small following, small financial reward, a lack of sponsors from "outside" the sport, and such a small amount of public recognition, both locally and nationally.. (And definitely no other team sport has such an incredible operating model)... It is truly ironic that the very people who "save the sport" by spending so much, (who all love speedway and are well meaning), are the very people that prevent growth, and higher finanical rewards for success, due to the way they run things... When all are focused in what is good for UK Speedway, and not necessarily what is ideal for themselves, the sport may have a chance of moving forwards... Seven figure costs are met by the promoters each season as a collective, on riders alone, so surely now is the time to get that huge, (and for such a small sport a truly incredible outlay), to work for the sports' growth?
  24. Mostly voting with their feet. The tangible change the average fan can make is turning up weekly and putting their money in the till. By not doing so they’re showing they aren’t happy with the product. That’s when the supplier needs to step up and win them back. The sport isn’t doing that these days for the most part. There’s absolutely a negativity bias in the world but forums and social media can be the only place for fans to vent their frustrations.
  25. Yesterday
  26. He's got great natural instincts. He's by far the most exciting British rider coming through the ranks right now. Let's see how he does as the opposition get tougher.
