  3. Today
  4. From the main stand... B Block... You could see that some were unpainted, but some were painted blue, maybe official GKN pallets?.... (But don't quote me on that, they may just have been GKN copies).. I will win the 50/50 draw (if they do it), at the GP and confirm details when I am on the centre green and feedback to everyone..
  5. Do Scunny stream their home meetings please?
  6. He's also getting track time at Redcar tomorrow night (Fri 20 Mar) as he represents the Diamonds Select side in the Tyne/Tees Trophy meeting.
  7. Another Bandit with some bike time before the start of the season and for a great cause. Brilliant news!
  8. As it stands there will not be an official podcast as such this year, at least certainly for the time being, one of the many victims of no TV deal and funds to support it. Possibly it will change in future. I don't think there are many podcasts in speedway with the reach it had / has, mainly due to the direct access to riders and officials, and whatever happens I'll be forever grateful to Nigel Pearson for helping to get the BSPL to back it, and the further opportunities it has brought me in speedway. For now it's certainly not the end for it, but parked up and we'll see how we go once things settle down. However, we do plan to do something new via BSN once we get going in April so perhaps that might help fill the entertainment void. And personally I'll likely do more with my Humans of Speedway channels as well. With regards Media Days, I see the Rob Lyon has said at the NSSC event there won't be one, I'd firmly believe he knows better than most of the situation there! 😂
  9. Volunteers requested to attend the track from 10am on Sunday 22nd!
  10. I'm intrigued. Which bits were different colours, and where were you watching from?
  11. I started off in Stockport in 1986, and then worked all over the UK, from the North of Scotland, to the South Coast of England, with Stockport again being on the list 18 years ago... Got to watch quite a bit of Speedway too on my travels...
  12. Which shop did you work in and was it in our home town of Stockport as if so I probably frequented it?
  13. The pallets were covered in some kind of artificial grass... When my lad mentioned them my OCD, hardened by 39 years in retail leadership, kicked in, and I started to analyse them closely.... Whereby, I noticed they were different colours... Those 39 years in the retail game, where first and lasting impressions count for so much, made me come to the conclusion that, for the next time, (the GP's?), the pallets should all be painted Gold, Silver and Bronze...
  14. Only about 10 people saw the podium anyway. And it's not like they just get them to stand on pallets. The pallets get decorated and for me. Looks alright
  15. Certainly not riding in Top Tier,3rd div(I think)
  16. The meeting on Saturday features BriSCA F1 and F2 Stock Cars plus the V8 HotStox which are followed by supporters who travel the length and breath of the country following them. They are also the type of people who might be interested in Speedway as well as Stock Cars so it would be a very good time to show them what is happening.
  17. Firstly it wasn’t me who mentioned the podium it was MikeBV talking about his son, I just quoted him and I can remember last year someone making a post about it on FB but it isn’t about the podium it’s about all the unnecessary little things, the podium just happens to be one of them and it’s so unnecessary and cheap to fix ,your later point is valid about them entering the stadium but I’m talking about people who may see it on tv or on YouTube or wherever as their first impression, something I saw a couple of years back on tv was I think the speedway of nations and everytime the camera panned round to the pits there were around 30 people who were standing around talking or drinking tea and it looked like a branch of primark, totally unprofessional and shambolic so I messaged the promotion and FIM and told them and the next day there was nobody standing there in the pits, it’s the little things that matter, I understand the sport hasn’t got a pot to piss in but a lot of little things cost peanuts
  18. I understand the point you are making Dean, and there are hundreds of small (and large) things that all British clubs could do to improve the whole event. That said, picking on the podium at Belle Vue is diluting the value of your point in my view. The podium will be a long way from the first thing people see at Belle Vue, and they might well be impressed by their entrance to the stadium, certainly from the main grandstand side would think that is a more impressive first impression than any other British speedway track. Anyone sitting on that side of the stadium would be very unlikely to see any issues with the front of the podium as the construction of it is not apparent front on. I suspect that in the South stand a newby is more likely to comment on the toilets and catering if anything.
  19. the best kept sporting secret ever . opening night massive crowd of people who support other teams . 3 weeks in and tiny crowd ..they should be marketing it on social media , give the team a name at least theres plenty of Speedway fans internet savvy enough to create a razamatazz , Speedway has far too long relied on its dwindling fanbase to advertise it , and this is a classic exmaple . failing to prepare is preparing to fail !!!
  20. Lots of matches over the next 2 weeks which might be live streamed or video’s afterwards. We ( mainly Stewmac) will try and put up when known.
  21. It was colin who was the rubbishbag . Mick took that flack
  22. Delighted the U21 Champion gets entree to the GPs -- not least 'cos he's Ukrainian! Meanwhile, the Russians have to pay the penalty for being, er, Russian.......
  23. Yet again you have missed the point, it doesn’t matter what I think of the podium or belle vue or whatever it is,,it’s what potential folk who see speedway maybe for the first time, going forward I’m not the potential market and neither are you,my family is on that wall and I’ve ridden for belle vue and my Mrs and lad have a BV season ticket and I’ve worked tirelessly for 30 years trying to change the sport at different positions and habe had a go at just about every job in my he sport and literally lost £1000s doing it so yes I’m going to have my 10pence worth until the sport finally realises it’s in the wrong path and need to address the little things first like the optics
  24. I wasn't trying to suggest there's a problem moving forward, just saying this weekend is off as I know a champ rider was going to practice too. Good luck to Leicester, hope it's a good season for them.
  25. Optics are the very things that form people’s perception, often they don’t even have to be real, they can just a show but when you’re trying to attract new people to the sport optics are often their first trigger leading on to their intrigue, ouch can’t seem to understand this as he is so stuck in his own world of what he does or doesn’t like about speedway
