Good for selling season tickets and to make a team not look like cannon fodder... Which they then invariably become.. "Look at our league, isn't it competitive?".. Whilst many followers of the sport will already know it clearly isn't, and be proven right, usually around the end of May....
-
100% we’ve seen it so often that their assessed averages go south, very few have maintained it in first season
-
Top tier teams are usually the ones with the regular four figure fan base... With some obvious outliers in tier two.. Hence they can afford to change nights and still, hopefully, keep enough people attending for the Speedway to remain at leasf affordable if not profitable. Eastbourne were not one of those regular four figure attendance teams, hence the Dugard family would put tens of thousands in some seasons, and running at weekend would bring in around 700-800, tops, I would think, (after an initial novelty period that may bring a few more)... Moving to a Monday or Thursday, from a weekend would then be a big risk, especially given the 30% and more increase in rider costs...

Woryna has signed for Lejonen in 2027. Will he do 3 League's and the GP's?
-
Until official and approved by the BSPL it’s all gossip
-
Absolute quality rider is Jonas and we got to see a lot of that this year, good signing if he’s interested in coming back.

Nothing, but they finished top of the league and took the playoff final to a super heat. After last year, I think Oxford would take that. That made a huge difference to the Glasgow season. I don't see where Oxford will get a rider like that (song 2.5 to their average), and I think that they have went too big on the top 3. Pre Nagel, Glasgow struggled for heat advantages that year and relied on winning a lot of last heat deciders. From memory the super heat in the playoff final (the one that really mattered) was the only one that went against the Tigers. Masters, Brennan and Howarth will struggle to increase their averages, Kileen might struggle to improve his as his partner will regularly beat him. Lot of pressure on the bottom 3 to be picking up 3rd places and they will often be facing opposite numbers with much higher averages. If it all clicks though they could win silverware. Looking forward to them coming to Ashfield next year, that match already looks like one to watch

That was the case when the Mon/Thurs race night came into being and some premiership tracks had to change, so it can be done. If a few ageing fans hold that much sway over clubs then that's why we are where we are. New fans need to be attracted.
-
Theres nothing in it if distance from his home to a track is concerned, if thats a factor for Troy. Theres actually about 5 miles difference between where he lives and Workington, or where he lives and Plymouth ! Lol.
-
Although he was a good rider, I always got the impression that Jonas never "gelled" with the fans, and possibly not with his team mates either. He was happy to turn up, ride, and dissappear asap. Unlike Tate who seemed to like the fans and got on well with them. So to me Jonas wont be riding for us next year.

Klindt has signed for Czestochowa in Poland. The 1-7 picks itself really. 1. C. Wright 2. J. Mulford 3. J. Edwards 4. J. Scott 5. D. King 6. A. Pijper 7. C. Southwick

Totally agree
-
I agree, I think Cairns would be a good signing for any team & put a point on his average.
-
Assessed averages often just make a team look competitive on paper.. Everyone knows the reality will be very much different...
-
The telling factor when it comes to the points limit is the bidding war for Cairns. Logic would state that every top end Club is after the same rider because of a low points limit that would see them end up with an out of depth No.6 if they missed out on Cairns. If the limit was 40.00 for example then Cairns wouldn't be as important as teams could run with a 5.00 Newcomer at reserve for example.

Duplicate post.
-
Pretty much confirms a 37.00/38.00 limit then as they wouldn't tweet that and then put out a team that's a couple of points under the limit.
-
Troy to Plymouth??
-
If the 40 point Championship level is true, then maybe its been done to get more "mid level" overseas riders to come over??. If they double up, (solving a top tier rider issue), they would ride around 70 meetings a year, if they did the UK, Poland and one other league of Sweden or Denmark.. Doing Poland, Sweden and Denmark would only deliver around 40 something meetings.. The top level riders may be able to pick and choose how often they ride, but maybe enough lower level riders still exist who are happy to earn as much as they can by riding as much as they can??
-
Plus if riders can only ride in two countries then I think Klindt rides in Denmark as well as Poland
-
I do hope so but then the proposed Northampton septet would be almost 2.50 Points under the limit even if you replace Iversen with an 8.00 Newcomer. 2 Confirmed starters and ITK's are certain on Musielak, Lidsey and Morris which only = 29.72 Based off the Northampton snippets and confirmed signings the limit looks like being 37.00 or 38.00 top whack because they could replace Iversen with Pickering (8.27) or an 8.00 Newcomer taking the team total to 37.99 or 37.72.
-
I can see Pickering coming in as number 1, he wants that race jacket in the Premiership and unfortunately for him he won’t get that at Sheffield for start of the upcoming season. With a 40 point average could move Musielak to 5 where he’s more comfortable (what an exciting pair for ht13 by the way!), can easily then accommodate Lidsey as third heat leader with Morris in engine room at 4 and Thomson remaining at 2
-
From a proposed team I was told (not Ipswich by the way) that was built to 40 points for the 6 riders with R/S not included. To have some new riders over in UK who would come in on assessed 7.50- 8 point averages 40 needs to be the minimum to increase the gap between both leagues
-
If no extra riders want to come over and ride... And some from last season might decide to miss the UK.. You could end up with a lower level of rider in the top tier!! Charles Wright would get a top tier spot next season surely?.. Can't think of too many more of a sufficient level to move into the top tier from the second..
