Bit harsh that. If Ipswich didn’t have bad luck in recent years they’d have no luck at all. They’ve had the best team on paper three years running now and had the gods go against them last two years. A country mile ahead at the top of the table before losing Sayfoootinov on top of Doyle last year, and the year before the weather gods were against them. 18 points up from the home leg and in the return, the heavens opened and made it a complete farce. Riders were being wheeled out for races before the riders from the previous race had even left the track. It was a lottery which Sheffield eventually won. If the rain hadn’t arrived there’s no doubt in my mind Ipswich would have held on. People may disagree but that season on three previous visits there, Ipswich lost by 6, and 12 on two occasions. Ipswich again have the best team on paper and if they don’t win it this time, then they can rightly be labelled failures. If they go in to to the play off with a full 1-7, then there will be nowhere to hide and no excuses. Nothing against any of the four teams involved, but I personally hope Ipswich win it because Louis deserves it for consistently putting the best team together in recent years. Anyone else without a horse in the race should be rooting for them too. (Except for Lynn fans probably 😉)

Bike setup does appear to be more important than riding technique these days, you could argue that bike setup is also a skill but too often it appears to be down to a rider hitting a bit of luck with the setup and then honing in on it.

From a purely neutral prospective, I don't think you can judge it on one meeting last time out. I'm literally looking at last year's meeting for Berwick, and Etheridge scored 5 points from 6 riders. The year before? 1 point from 4 rides. If you look at the bigger picture, Gusts was competing in the Grand Prix Challenge at the weekend, and Knudsen finished third in Danish Championship. Etheridge and Hagon don't offer that sort of pedigree. I don't think there is any real doubt Oxford are weakened. In my opinion, a full strength Oxford side has to be one the strongest in the league, but how often have they actually been full strength? They've been weakened all season (which is partly their own doing, and partly down to injuries), so it's pretty much a normal strength Oxford lineup if you think like that.

You are against a weakened team but it’s Oxford’s own fault for signing riders who ride in Denmark on a Wednesday.

After the surprise win on Monday at Perry Barr (hold my hands up did not expect Lewi Kerr to be our saviour), Lynn must come into this one fully expecting a convincing win. Ben Cook is due to make his second comeback at reserve this time and he should fill his boots. For anyone thinking we are against a weakened team, Etheridge got paid 14 last time so a good guest for Gusts who is now in the main body and Hagon is a good guest at reserve for Knudsen who got 3 last time.

People talking as if Leicester are the team to beat, they lost the first round to Ipswich and in round 2 of fixtures they are 18 points down so I’m confident we can do a job on them in play offs, Leicester needed Brennan to win the trophy as he rode so well for them but it just shows he can ride their track very well. It’s ours to lose, but this is us so we probably will throw it away!

Football isn't viable in the vast majority of places, given most clubs are in debt and use expected future money and sponsorship to cover as much of their losses as is possible... Speedway is no different but just on a much smaller scale with umbrella businesses, benafactors and sponsorship covering the shortfall in income v expenditure... It is though, I agree, a lot of work to give a few hundred people something to do every fortnight or so... And how another team will get enough riders to fill it and be competitive will be a challenge given the level of rider used nowadays to fill the ones we have... One thing to consider maybe is if the crowd levels are expected to be so low, then why not just stay at the Abbey? That stadium will more than accommodate such numbers... Maybe ask those looking to move Swindon out of the town that question?

Got to remember how much you save with free parking though.

Lidsey and Picko i remember how one race they were riding each other super hard inside outside and eventually Picko got it but at one point I thought they were coming off ! Good to watch though!

Surprised it's not, but nope

As has been said, 1st meets 4th, second v third. (Unless commercial reasons come in to play 🙄). Nobody picks anybody anymore. Pretty sure we’ll finish top. Can afford defeats at Sheffield and Leicester and still finish top by winning our remaining home fixtures. But as we know, that counts for nothing. Barring an 18/20 point defeat at Leicester in our upcoming fixture, we’d have taken the aggregate bonus in both rounds of fixtures against them this year. But again, that counts for nothing and the only two legged affair that counts is next month in the play offs. If we can get there injury free, I remain confident we’ll see the job through.

If Poole click they could grab a good lead, but no room for passengers. It could all hinge on which Hagon turns up. Kerrs been steadily improving all season but consistent bike issues and horrid luck(Plymouth) have held him back. if Lawson has the beating of Masters and one of Zach and Kerr go well Poole might get to 50

I reckon the best pass Monday night was Heat 5, when Kurtz drove off the inside of bend 4 to pass both Pickering and Morris. Not close-your-eyes-wall-of-death bravery, but well-calculated intelligent riding.

Whoever finishes top will pick BV because they're terrible away from the NSS. Ipswich v Leicester Final imo with Ipswich winning a close one on aggregate.
