  1. Past hour
  2. I'm gonna nip down on my bike to have a look at what's going on, take in some of the atmosphere , if there is any, not got tickets, then get back home and watch on tv..
  3. Sorry for the dumb question but is that available on the HBO app on Sky or only on a mobile device?
  4. I don’t buy the SS any more- does anyone know if this week’s edition had any more of a follow-up to this farcial situation ?
  5. Also another point would be they changed the time for Cardiff so people could travel back the same day but the Manchester gp is at 7!
  6. Just a reminder that qualifying and Sprint race is live on HBO Max at 2pm UK time.
  7. And now we are moaning because we no longer have it at Cardiff which has a lot to offer. I would add that I thought the last gp was better racing wise and Bewley winning was brilliant for the British fans. I did think they could have risked one more year and it must have been a late decision as tickets were still available until December. I also enjoyed the fan zone in Cardiff but that got depleted year on year and some shows, like the bmx, were cut on the day because the organisers prioritised what was happening on the main stage which I thought was a shame.
  8. The Speedway fraternity is a moaning lot (I'm not averse to a little moan myself now and again), but the organisers of this event bent over backwards to try and placate the bunch of moaners that the British Speedway fans are... They setup no air horn zones because people complained it was too noisy, they slashed the ticket prices because people complained they were too expensive, they altered the start time to enable people to travel back after the meeting because people complained about the hotel prices, they improved the track (they actually did from the early years) because people moaned the racing was not up to muster... eventually they came to the conclusion, "what's the bloody point", and quite rightly so from their point of view.
  9. Very pleased with this, a month at reserve for Jenkins to rediscover some confidence. If he impresses, then Fredriksen may be in trouble.
  10. Today
  11. yes if only we could say to a rider after he's won the meeting sorry your not good enough.😁
  12. I think most cities are an avoid these days my nearest big city Norwich is a shadow of what it was 20 plus years ago, maybe Cambridge, Oxford, Bath and City of London but most others I can't say I'm in a hurry to go to.
  13. Amazing result I don't rate him at all, he's somewhere around #40 and 1.4 heat average in the Polish Second League. Hopefully he doesn't jag another decent meeting in the Challenge and qualify. He is light years away from GP standard.
  14. Make that 2 wildcards gone, Freddie missing at least 3 GPs should guarantee him one. An interesting prospect tho the Challenge, any or all of Woryna, MJJ, Lambert, & Holder capable of making GP top 7 and extending the Challenge qualifiers well past 4 with SEC qualifier adding to the mix.
  15. Not often I disagree with you but I'd suggest that there must be more guests nowadays as you could only have one back them for your number one or for multiple absences, R/R was a compulsory go-to otherwise whereas today you cn have a guest for any rider. Also every team had a junior side one of which was promoted if a reserve was injured. As for fans not caring about guests, I'd say there are a fair chunk who do even if the majority turn up to watch the racing and aren't fussed. You are right that there are loada of other issues but I know plenty of speedway fans who hate the lack of identity because of doubling up but more so willy nilly guests. We know they are a necessary evil in some situations but we have far, far too many nowadays and it needs reining in.
  16. Definitely miss Wembley and the amazing atmosphere there . There’s pluses and minuses to a one off final . It’s a big plus imo. One thing though about Cardiff is that the stadium is right in the city centre, accessible to everything the city has to offer . A weekend in Wembley itself would be a bit different I reckon these days 😬. The day itself though would be amazing.
  17. The draw for the individual Swedish final at 23 June, https://ta.svemo.se/Public/Pages/CompetitionInformation/CompetitionInformation.aspx?CompetitionId=17983&CompetitionApplicationConfigurationId=77991&Result=1
  18. Yesterday
  19. i would say it would the same % as the old days when crowds were massive . As i said fans dont care about guests in speedway and never have always been a complete myth . it would be miles down the list in problems Speedway has ,
  20. Obviously a log of justifiable criticism of the track but it it hadnt been so bumpy Bomber would never have won, he loves a challenge! As a Poole fan Lindback winning was another highlight especially as I had a decent bet on him. Criticism of the hotels is justified also but you didn't have to stay in Cardiff, we hardly ever did preferring to stay outside Cardiff and get a train in.
  21. Just found a great Interview with Vinnie....23 mins long ! Its just been uploaded to youtube....go get it and enjoy !
  22. Cardiff was more about the atmosphere around the City before the meeting and won’t be captured again. The opportunity to see riders from the SGP circuit in thew City and for my kids to get photos and merch etc ... Plus once Ian Jordan rinsed Eastbourne and forced it to close it was the easiest opportunity for my family to see Speedway. The novelty however started to wear off, the hotel prices were extortionate and logistically we changed our plans over the years as my children got older. Go Fri night and make a weekend of it. Then go early Sat AM and return on Sun and for the last Cardiff into Wales Sat AM and driveback after the meeting. Cardiff could never match the NSS for quality of the racing watching British Finals and SON live in Manchester was immense but Cardiff had its own appeal and the gathering of speedway fans all over the country in one place was always a highlight. The tickets were excellent value for money and no fear of a rain off , although on a couple of occasions the track was so poor you could imagine the riders considering not racing due to the state of the track. All in all it was a great occasion but it was like watchimg MK Dons in the final years - "Your grounds to big for you ...."
