  1. Past hour
  2. JOKING ASIDE NOW LETS BE SERIOUS. The light turns green, the dirt starts to fly, A speedway rider with a gleam in his eye. He’s got no brakes and a frame made of grit, Just a heavy steel shoe and a "don't care" bit. He slides through the corner at a forty-degree bend, Praying the fence isn't his newest best friend. The bike’s screaming loud, the crowd’s in a daze, While he’s lost in a thick, methanol-scented haze. He finishes the heat, all covered in muck, And says to his mechanic, "Well, that was some luck! I didn't hit anyone, I stayed on the track, Now help me find where I left my lower back."
  3. Nicknamed Spunky. He’s the guy who won the amateur cummers and rapist championship back in the 80s
  4. Today
  5. What tunnel are we looking down
  6. What exactly do you mean by ”think things through for the longer-term”? What is there to be thought through that will benefit us long-term? This isn’t quantum physics, Ian. It’s planning the same season’s meetings, but with less clubs due to aforementioned decline, since 1929. Every close season represents an opportunity for the BSPL to reset and rebuild. Yet, at arguably the most challenging period in the UK sports’ history, we’ve encountered a ridiculously delayed fixture list and the exciting, groundbreaking outcome from the annual AGM that.. wait for it… the side who scored less in qualifying will get first gate pick in the Championship Pairs.
  7. No I believe he is now the manager of the French wonder kid Lotti Sèmen
  8. Perhaps.... Teams capable of attracting backers and be involved in rebuilding the sport to a level above semi professional in a field Proper clubs with the ability to attract more than 400 spectators and therefore able to entice a different level of rider
  9. I don't think anyone is claiming it is ideal, logistics and accommodation affect everyone. However I think on this occasion it's best to take a bit more time to think things through for the longer term, and hopefully a lot more straightforward in future. Some of the issues are beyond the BSPL, waiting for legal processes or 3rd party discussions etc to run through. Hopefully light at the end of the tunnel now.
  10. ... if you build it, they will come. They used to think that about the crowds, now they think that about the riders!
  11. The pessimist in me is thinking it’s Ipswich with the bad news. The wording “there will be some sort of update on Tuesday” doesn’t fill me with confidence that they will be announcing either a completed sale, or any rider signings today. Just another non update of “sorts”. I could be completely and utterly wrong of course. Let’s hope I am.
  12. Bad news is always buried behind good news 😛 pick which one is bad news
  13. Maybe they should follow the International format and teams are made up of three riders?
  14. Which is why the fixation from the BSP in bringing back the likes of Coventry, Peterborough, Swindon and Wolves, leaves me perplexed... Who would these teams get to ride for them? One of the main augments against one league was the lack of riders of a certain level... What level would be needed to find another 28 team spots? Maybe instead of guesting it became official that one rider represented two teams in the same league?..
  15. I’m not stressed, Ian. I just don’t think we should normalise low standards. British speedway repeatedly forces its fans to accept the bare minimum as success. That mindset is contributing to the slow death of the sport we love. I’ve raised valid points around logistics, accommodation, hospitality, governance, etc. and those points don’t disappear because the inept BSPL have issued the fixtures over a month later than last season, despite the sport’s blatant decline.
  16. The hospitality boxes on the third and fourth bends at Ashfield. It’s a great set-up. It’s become a bit of a tradition between myself, friends, family and even colleagues on the odd occasion.
  17. Will there be an announcement today, Tuesday? It would clash with the much-heralded and long-awaited release of the 2026 Championship fixture list ...
  18. Anyone checked under the tree - has he been yet?
  19. Is Ivor’s spannerman still Dick Ferbrains ?
  20. see even our jokes go back to 70s and 80s. we are all stuck in the mud. 🤣
  21. I’ve heard that the great Ivor Biggin has been practicing & could be about to make a cum back!
