  2. If people are being honest Poole are the best run club in the country serial winners and you can see why.its not pooles fault we and I mean that as a collective can’t beat them they have the same points as the rest of us to build a team they just have the X factor when it comes to doing it.the only criticism people can have about Poole as a viewing fan is the lack of passing but then again Poole can do what they want the fans still turn up unfortunately though they win on all our teams tracks as well lol there just a very good team the top divisions loss is the championships gain because I bet the highest attendance for home matches is when Poole come calling sorry about my ramblings but it’s upto the rest of us to build competitive teams to match the riders are out there otherwise Poole wouldn’t do what they do most seasons.

  3. As teams averages will rise from 38 at the start of the season to one close to 42 at the end of it, most/all riders should be expected to raise their starting average by about 10% without actually improving their under lying performance. A starting average of 6.5 would need a season end average of over 7.00 (7.15) just to stand still.

  4. The bottom line with Poole is this. They can average 1500-2000 Crowds for the bulk of their summer season and possiblty exceed that in Play Offs and Cup Finals. They can sell upwards to 1000 (or more someone might confirm) season tickets at 150-200 quid a pop. They have excellent and mostly longstanding sponsorship. That alone is a guarantee that they can run, cover all the bills and make money. Most CL Clubs are happy if they average 600 - several have tried to match the spending of bigger Clubs on that sort of average and have palpably failed. Oxford have done exceptionally wel but will have to decide "what goes" next season, PL / CL or NDL as surely margins suggest its not practical long term to run all three. I don't see crowds significantly above 600 average at any other CL venue other than Poole / Oxford (stand to be corrected on that?) I do get the Ford logic, why go up and spend possibly twice as much (net) and risk reduced Crowds as they prefer Wednesdays - especially if there is no big Company / high net worth individuals to cover any losses. Maybe they are lucky to have that sort of core base, but I believe that generally that you make your own luck, if you don't you certainly have to have the sort of wise judgement not to chase rainbows and to live within your means. A few fine examples of that especially Scunthorpe!

  5. Especially when you consider Poole have a Dane in their side and they ride on Wednesdays

  6. What a meeting! Large crowd, Birmingham very unlucky not to come away with a win. Fantastic racing throughout the meeting. Well done to both teams.

  7. Saw a post somewhere saying why don't people go to Speedway anymore. Look no further than tonight .45 - 45 away at Sheffield. What a great point that used to be . Absolutely ridiculous that the home team walk away from that meeting with an extra point. Pathetic isn't the word.

  9. We'll agree to disagree then, but personally I'd never want to use my top rider in heat 8. For Leicester as soon as I saw Sheffield had r/r at 2, think I would've moved Lawson to 3 or 4 (put Becker at 2).

  11. Excellent post. Thank you Mike0310. Last nights heat 5 with Bomber recording the fastest time of the season by an away rider, Richard Lawson's faultless 15 pt max, plus Ben Cook's last to 2nd in heat 15 against Bomber and Ivacic were worth the money alone!

  12. I think Lawson would be welcome back whatever his average is.

  13. "I want to thank you guys tonight for such a good turnout and what you did there with your wonderful support was great!" " I don't think these lads know the rules anymore. I try and let them through but hey that's how it was." Richard Lawson last night. Maybe they don't want to increase their average too much either Richard lol.

  14. Spedeworth do own the stadium and have put out a message on their website to say that they intend to get the stadium back working and look forward to continuing the improvement works they have been doing since taking over the ownership of the stadium.

  16. The other benefit that Poole has by being continually successful at their chosen level is excellent media coverage, (as well as excellent team building skills)! Whether tv, radio, newspapers(print and online), reel videos or other social platforms they maintain their presence in the wider public eye. It doesn't just happen, it needs to be continually worked at and Danny Ford, his team and other committed individuals work very hard at it. There will always be critics, but Poole are accumulating stacks of positive pr, huge crowds and commercial support - just in case they need it if/when the future of the stadium becomes a 'live' topic!

  18. Obviously now adding Russel Paine to that list (again) and there are/will be countless others. These are people who gave untold hours to the sport for zero in return and were still driven out. What hope has the sport got if it punishes and penalises genuine volunteers whilst feeding the self interest of a selected few.

  19. I noticed, especially on FB, many fans saying Pijper shouldn't have been dropped (especially when Garrad didn't score well) but hardly any of them said "we should have kept Starke too" now anyone with knowledge of the rules knows they couldn't have signed Ivacic & kept Pijper. I see Plymouth's new signings Patrik Baek is a 5.00 rider, meaning if Glasgow had signed him instead of Ivacic, they wouldn't have had to drop Pijper. I wonder if he was on Glasgow's list of potential signings?

  21. Redcar juniors stalwart and former promoter, Kev Keay did the same , said the interference from those two ruined the ethos of the league and thats cleaning up the words he actualy used.

  22. What you are totally oblivious to is that it doesn't matter who is in the race to produce a very entertaining race and that's where the quality lies! I enjoy all levels whether that's an Emil or NDL racing. I've seen great and not so great racing at all levels. Remember, all the greats have to start somewhere. And you should've been at Glasgow on Friday especially heat 10 Ben Cook vs Bomber.......beat any race in the top league any day if ur into separating the leagues!

  23. Watching speedway crowds between racing during track preparations they are left with nothing to do.Years ago the announcer would keep the fans involved by doing war cries, 2468 who do we appreciate then the teams nickname T I G E R S tigers . it keeps the crowd interest .But all we see is fans looking bored every other sport have crowds chanting singing when the action stops so come on presenters get the fans involved liven them up keep them interested. At belle vue chase the ace and white line challenge are two things they do the crowd love it but more needs to happen at most tracks especially during tractor racing

  26. Just to clarify….its the first time Redcar have done it this way as they have always given the youth their own meeting on a Saturday , letting the crowd in for free but it cost them too much with no backing from the SCB/BSPL and now they have to squeeze the kids in with a main meeting to cover the medics and insurance. The powers that be said there would be more opportunities for all this year…….think they told porkies.

  29. The decision makers certainly were but like I mentioned previously the wrong rider in the wrong season. In 2023 we could have carried him along and let him find his feet at his own pace with Bomber and Basso doing the heavy lifting. That may have set him up better to ride for us in 2024. Glasgow now have a dilemma, do they keep him having given him a season to bed in and bank on him improving next season or thank him for his efforts. The points limit will be a crucial factor however Claus is currently 0.3 below Leon in the newest averages.

  30. It's got ridiculous, professional sportsmen dropping out of events because of wives etc. having a baby. Best to send her a bunch of flowers with a note saying "all the best, can't be there because my employer needs me to be working for them and I need to earn some dosh so we can buy food and pay the mortgage".

  31. So I wonder who us guesting at Sheffield tonight oh yes Aces rider why hasn't Lemon blocked him like a lot of you think he does pure speculation like I said it may well turn out Aces / Sheffield semi - final so he gets to feel the track out if we meet

  32. If true then Claus is blameless and deserves no criticism.

  33. Just listened to it! Unbelievable! What the actual flip are the management doing at Brum in between races? There's almost as many managers as riders and not one of them could think of informing the riders of the score situation!

  37. Lawson, Brennan and Ben Cook are arguably the fastest gaters in the Championship and also very quick when in front so passing them is difficult. Justin Sedgeman did manage to beat them all at Wimborne Rd when Edinburgh visited last but he needed his top gating boots on to do it. The thing is the Poole heat leaders are very consistent (Rich Lawson has been for years), very professional with very good equipment. They also seem to ride well everywhere they go. Tom Brennan has progressed and been a top signing, probably rider of the season to date.

  41. We had the first leg of the ko cup. Next Weds is league! Incidentally Tom Brennan took a few after meeting Laps on Hagon's machine and looked as fast as in the meeting itself. Sam is still a bit bruised from his crash a couple of weeks ago but needs to get his set ups correct ( hey Mr Dugard) Loved Ben Cook's pass from last to 2nd in heat 15. Boom.

  42. There is no consistency in the process they use for averages, Janowski got his average reduced because he hadn’t rode here for a few years his assessed average was an 8.00 he’s been on a downward spiral for the last couple of years, Birmingham sign Lindgren who’s a gp rider which the rules state comes in on an 8.00 Lindgren is a far better rider. The two Birmingham lads how did they pluck 7.50 averages for the pair of them? Milik last time he rode here averaged 5.67 I think he’s not two points better than that average as he proved when he rode here he was shocking. Robert Lambert came back for Belle Vue maybe a couple of years ago on his old 7.61 average so you’re saying Milik and Pawlicki are the same standard as Lambert? As I was saying absolutely zero consistency in the way they got to the averages they did. Every man and his dog knew the two Birmingham lads averages were stupid and so it’s been proved.

  45. Come on everyone, this has to be the most pointless argument I've ever seen in the forum, from seemingly the most innocuous of posts. If Skidder1 is happy watching Championship racing at Poole then good for him. If others think Premiership racing with Emil is better so they go watch that, then good for them. These are opinions, there is no right or wrong answer. I've seen both good & bad matches at all levels of the sport. I've seen people saying the SON at Belle Vue was amazing, I thought it was almost a bore fest & seen far better racing round there. I know someone who prefers the racing at Armadale to Scunthorpe, which I find astonishing. I just fail to see why people are arguing over this?

  48. Some off the best times in our History were had at Shawfield , used to go to the Greyhound’s on a Saturday and that’s what inspired me to shave my head back then. The announcer kept saying the hare is off and the rest is history.
