HenryW 1,178 Posted October 17, 2015 Went round applauding the fan's off both sides after heat 15.Yep. That was very nice to see. playoffs are a total nonsense, Edinburgh best team right from the off, plenty money for the promoters thoughThe money is the key factor. With speedway at Armadale seeing its biggest crowd ever tonight I am sure the Edinburgh promotion will have been rubbing their hands with glee even before the result! tyretrax 2,253 Posted October 17, 2015 Well done to (and by) the Monarchs. To be honest I said to Stewart Dickson early in the season that not winning the league this season might not be a bad thing. this forum would have gone into meltdown with "you bought the title" ignoring the fact the money spent mostly went on the stadium. Anyway roll on next season although again being honest a Friday doesn't suit me.
spin king 1,923 Posted October 17, 2015 Congratulations to the Monarchs once again they set the standard for the rest us to chase. For Glasgow I think the writing was on the wall as soon as Summers was injured, you cannot afford to lose your best and most consistent rider over the season in a Play Off, will be interesting to see what their promotion do about the team next season. But after all the banter some good and not so good, it has to be a shot in the arm for Scottish speedway to have both teams contest the Final.
Fenway Bleachers 2,665 Posted October 17, 2015 Let Glasgow present their case for Friday at Bspa meeting/AGM and let the PL clubs decide as nd vote. Seems equitable and Edinburgh will join the vote as they see fit.Decision will be made and no scapegoats. We can then all plan for next year. That way 1 club cant penalize another and we can avoid chips on shoulders. Simples? Maybe not
Lord Lucan 375 Posted October 18, 2015 Well done Edinburgh, thoroughly deserving Champions, did it in the League proper and now just emphasised their superiority in this, top side!! Tough on Glasgow losing their top man, would certainly have made a better fist of it if Summers had been there but hey, that's life, still done well this year so cant complain too much, got to have good vibes for next year after this!!
Aroundtheboards 264 Posted October 18, 2015 FROM A SOMERSET SUPPORTER - WELL DONE JOCKS YOU DID WELL AGAINST THE APPOSING JOCKS, WE ARE ONLY DOWN THE ROAD AND WE WILL BE BACK TO RECLAIM WHAT'S RIGHTFULLY OURS
cyclone 943 Posted October 18, 2015 Well done the Mighty Monarchs, after being deservedly beaten on Friday, they displayed the resilience that is the hallmark of true champions last night, none more so than Sam Masters who was superb, and gave us all a race to remember as he majestically reeled in Lawson and later Morris in a pulsating heat 7. Special mention to Kevin Wölbert who recently returned from injury and was the smoothest performer on show and ended up the overall top scorer over the two legs, amassing 23pts + 1 bonus from 9 rides Credit to the track staff, officials, and riders from both sides on the completion of the racing on a well prepared/regularly graded surface in under 13/4 hours Consider myself extremely lucky to a have supported a team that have been back to back Championship winners/League Table Toppers, and won an unprecedented haul of the other major trophies over the same period.
Pinny 2,536 Posted October 18, 2015 Edin can still build a good team without cook imo Masters is a pl number one these days, if he also left then wolbert would surely be a good leader around the dale?
me2 80 Posted October 18, 2015 Richard Lawson showed some class at the end of the meeting. He certainly did and Aaron got a good round of applause from us when he walked the track pre match. Losing him was a mortal blow for you guys. Its not the first time this year a team has turned up at Armadale blighted by injury. A full strength Glasgow would have been a different story, but that's the way it goes sometimes. You're in with a chance, then Lady Luck boots you in the Dennis Laws. Let's hope we can all do it again next year.

KIRKYLANE 537 Posted October 18, 2015 The 30 mile rule is just an example of an another outdated unnecessary rule. Any promoter should be allowed to run on the day they think is the best for them. This is not about Glasgow or Edinburgh but common sense. A strong Glasgow and Edinburgh are good for Scottish Speedway and Speedway in general. Just look at the vast increase in column inches for Scottish Speedway in the Daily Record during 2015 which can only benefit both tracks. Belle Vue were forced by the Greyhound Stadium to move to Mondays from the Fridays that were used initially.... it is their stadium and their choice but it did effect Belle Vue Speedway..... thankfully we are now moving to our new stadium and are back to Fridays. So last night may well be my last visit to Edinburgh unless they spring a Saturday in from time to time. Best wishes to both clubs who incidentally enjoyed large attendances over the weekend.
Fingersfin 181 Posted October 18, 2015 (edited) Congratulations to the Monarch's, far too good last night as we took our usual medicine at Armadump. Logging all these triumphalist videos in the memory banks, it will make what's coming even sweeter. Loved the passion shown by Sarj last night, that as a fan is what you want to see. Normally feel pretty jaded with speedway by this time of the year but this time around I can't wait for March. Bring it on! Have to agree, don't really thinks riding on the same evening would make any significant difference to either clubs attendances.Glasgow seem to have boosted their crowds this season so in the long run that would help Speedway in general.
