Now all those people saying we wouldn't get near Russia tonight,you were wrong.But it's pretty much the same posters now that are slating us for daring to get within 3 points of them,very fickle.

Now bring the WC Final to Monmore,we will see how skillful the Poles are then

Pretty much what I expected. Don't blame the riders, blame the system in the UK. We don't do enough to get our top riders experience on the continent. Doesn't help that it's too easy to earn good money in our second division. Cook and Lambert are better than they showed tonight, no point slagging them off as the effort was there if not the composure or speed.

 

Well done Poland but all very predictable.

A very predictable result but congratulations to Poland, thoroughly deserved.

 

Was glad the Swedes hung in there for a while, was disappointed with the Russians, though they seemed very happy with third place !

 

As for Team GB, we just haven't got the quality of riders at the moment to be able to compete with the Poles in their homeland.

 

Was pleased that Rosco gave a couple of the younger ones a chance, however, Cook was hugely disappointing, but I'd stick with young Lambert, Bomber did his best but the star of the show for GB was Steve Worrall, remember it was only 3 or 4 years ago when he was tootling around at the back for Newcastle..

Team Poland has scored 50 points in 20 heats (no ridiculous Joker) which gives an average of 2,5 point/heat. MASSACRE!

Excellent meeting and whilst of the Brits gave it a go they ended up almost like being the British version of the rolling roadblock Filip Sitera, gating and generally just getting in the way until the riders behind could work there way through.

Million miles behind the Poles on every level of the sport, tracks, stadiums, fans, you name it.

I suspect that if the UK want to improve then the riders need test matches home and away, riders allowed to compete in the SEC and other invitational meetings and the powers that be should open their eyes and stop making crass decisions that make it difficult for riders to ride on overseas competitions. The alternative is stop competing at International level. If they are all on the same 500 cc machines why do the British riders more often than not look like they are not at the races. Anyway congratulations to all and thank goodness for event two and the play off.

Congratulations fella enjoy your moment. End of the day Speedway is the national sport in Poland so you're always going to be there or there abouts with the best equipment and biggest pool or riders to choose from.

Congratulations to Poland, a dominant performance and a well deserved victory.

 

Based on the current GP standings they were clear favourites to win but they still had to go out there and deal with the pressure and the expectation of that big crowd... and boy did they deliver. A fabulous performance from all of their team.

Would be interesting to see what the scores would have been if Poland had been on the GB boys bikes. Not so dominant is my opinion.

Remember Ivan Mauger saying he rode long track to get used to the speed. Perhaps our riders need to look at getting a wider experience if they want to make it at the top level. Individually they need to plot a path to improve themselves and experience full throttle racing more often.

 

Also thought there were a few instances when they just read the race wrongly, either by over extending themselves or not being aware of a challenge from behind. This racing is not like the British league. It's not always one against one with heat leaders battling it out and support in their own race. It can be three or four tussling and making moves and you can go from first to last very easily.

 

I don't doubt they can do better. This experience should help. And they should be kicking themselves for not getting the bronze. They were near enough. They must use their heads as well as their hearts. Hard luck to them but come back better!
