I really hope that Speedway does return to Coventry. However is there a promoter out there who would take it on? We now have a track at Odsal in Bradford, but without someone who has the financial clout to launch it, nothing can happen.

In view what is happening to Sport in Coventry would now be the time for All Supporters of both Coventry Bees and Coventry City to come together United and Bulldoze through all, to make way for a purpose-built Stadium to house both and secure the long-term future of sport in Coventry?

Hard to see any partnership with football working. Unless you go below tier 5 it would be a very unequal partnership, and football fans expect to be near the action so having a speedway track between them and the racing is likely to be unpopular. Speedway tied itself to greyhound racing for 50+ years and that has been fraught with problems as greyhounds declined. A stadium that would meet with Cov City's requirements would cost north of £20 million. Who's going to come up with speedway's share of that (either up front or via stratospheric rents?)

Absolutely zero chance of that happening- football fans want to be near the pitch not binocular distance away.

Any news on how the meeting went?

Rugby Council APPROVES Notice of Motion to explore options available to bring Brandon Stadium back into use, and any likely public advantages to the local and wider communities should this be achievable.

We look forward to providing our input into the discussions to follow

Really? Didn't realise he was an ex rider... it's good to have friends in high places though

Yes he was a Coventry Junior (used to wear those Honda leathers I recall) and rode for Scunthorpe during the middle seventies.
