The names, so they said, should reflect the history and current status of Perry Barr! So what have they come up with? - Diversity Grove, Equality Road, Destiny Road, Inspire Avenue, Respect Way and Humanity Close - all fully reflective of the district!!!!! Comments made by the seven judges were: "We were impressed by the creativity and range of names." "The names are a true reflection of both Perry Barr and the City." "The names in the winning entry just stood out." Who were the judges? Waseem Zaffar, Morriam Jan, Zulfigar Khan, Lincoln Moses, Aisha Masood, Anna Evans and Rebecca Farr. Marginally better than Garrity Way. 1

Great intentions but you can't name a street after anyone still alive. Them's the rules. And of course speedway isn't the only game in town. I'm sure dog racing fans would put up a valid case for a road to be named after a top greyhound trained at Perry Barr.

I think it is a good principle but it certainly isn't a cast iron rule.

Winslet Place in Reading (named after 'kate' ) ? My suggestions were tongue in cheek mind : )

How about a generic combination of both sports, perhaps Speedogging Avenue, or something similar? 1
