Agree, there’s no credibility in the Sport.Nothing will change though.

TTT 1,266 Posted April 17, 2023 Sorry to hear the new guys. I did say on the Peterborough thread the other day that you will follow us so this doesn't shock me at all, The whole sport in our country is going to collapse within the next two years.

TheSmiler 420 Posted April 17, 2023 British Speedway has been dying a slow and painful death for years but maybe this year is the final nail in the coffin. in the past decade we have lost massive clubs such as Coventry, Swindon, Arena Essex and now Peterborough and Wolves this year. I predict one big league next year and then fading out with a whimper.
Chris 441 Posted April 17, 2023 So some spotty Herbert with a wankey job title can do away with nearly a hundred years of history. Shouldn't be allowed to happen. The sport really messed up in its heyday in the 70s and 80s by not purchasing or building its own stadiums. Promoters were happy filling a trunk full of cash and putting nothing back into the sport.
GeneralMelchett 513 Posted April 17, 2023 (edited) This is a real blow, so sorry Wolves fans! Being an Arena-Essex fan from the 80s i know what it is like to go through this. I hope you find a new home and don't fold. Thanks for the memories - two of the very best meetings I have ever seen were at Monmore - one was a Wolves Cradley derby from 1989 (45-45 draw) and the other the Wolves Ipswich playoff semi from a few years back also 45-45 - both great meetings that I have happy memories of! Much as it pains me to say it, barring a miraculous upturn in attendances I can't see Birmingham carrying on after this year either.

The chances of that happening are virtually nil, the nearby experience of Cradley tells us that.

I see Wolves management haven't made any comment yet, possibly assessing legal options? And see if it can be changed.

The local Express & Star has a more of a CVS report / status. I wonder if any fellow Wolves fans / Supporters Committee etc have any thoughts, plans to fight this as a community loss. I was of the view that Monmore Green had a sporting covenant on it and it was this, that prevented a Ladbroke Casino appearing! Sad times.
