Was always going to difficult for the academy with the comets being clear favourites for the league this year and with plenty of laps under their belt round their new home. I’m saying that best going there now than later in the season as They effectively have 4 heat leaders at the moment, 5 when Harrison is back fit.

I thought Workington were favourites with Harrison, without him SHOULD be tougher, but they've proved perhaps even stronger than I predicted with the form of Sam McGurk & Elliott Kelly.

Fantastic to have competitive Speedway back at Worky.  The delight delight on the faces of the long term fans was plain to see. Thank you to all members of the wider Speedway family who made the journey, I'm sure every one of you help make it an even more special day for Andrew, Steve and the rest of the team who have worked tirelessly to make it happen. The weather was the icing on the cake.

Nice to get the new era off to a winning start. Some fans not used to this level of speedway may well have been surprised with the general high quality of racing but these young men are obviously very comfortable and accomplished on the bike. All square after 7 heats at 21 all Comets took control of the second half of the meeting with 4 5-1's not conceding another heat advantage and the like of Sam McGurk, Connor Bailey, Ace Pjiper and Elliot Kelly  gave the fans a glimpse of the competitive racers they are. Can't wait for next week. UTC !!!

Impressive team. The mountain / pjiper looks particularly strong

You've got your  Connor's mixed up. It's Connor Bailey
