Redcar Bears Vs Poole Pirates Championship 16th June

Recommended Posts

Ht 15 was an interesting one, a wide divergence of views on who should have been excluded, and not split across partisan lines. It probably depended on where you viewed it from.

Either way it was a cracking match and that twist made it one of the best league matches I've seen in years - can't see the play-offs providing that much excitement.

Redcar already topped my chart of favourite places to visit in British speedway, and is in no danger of being deposed.

PS Good to hear Roy Clark is on the mend

Just watched the stream helluva meeting. Super heat was nearly as good as heat 13 at ashfield last night!!

On the Wright/ worrall situation, bit stupid of Stevie getting involved imo, pretty obvious what Charles was doing just sit there and take the 4-2 win the meeting.

Redcar and Glasgow are definitely both the best racetracks and most welcoming in the CL.

I've never really got Scunny to be honest, it can produce good racing but suits out and out track specialists in my opinion. Evidence Simon Lambert.

Probably?, but last time they had Kerr as a guest and we won 52-38 ..........so probably not! :D

Kerr got 7 last time and Erik got 5 last night. So going on that Redcar would have won. However we don't know if he would have got the same again, although I would be surprised if he got less than 7 at Redcar.

Erik on his Facebook today blaming his bikes, not his illness, for the performance.

“A terrible night for myself, I was giving it everything out on track but simply couldn’t get out of the starts and struggled to find any speed in my bike tonight.

Sorry to the Redcar promotion and the fans for my performance.”

Certainly no need to apologise.

Nice when they apologise though as shows they care about the club and their fans. I bet Mike wishes the Plymouth riders would apologise!

Speedway definitely the winner last night, overtaking from heat 1to 16. Richard Lawson the biggest difference last night in my opinion. Just went about his business, no drama, never out of control just so under the radar when everyone else seemed so frantic.

Hmm, wonder why that is?  Ironically if Redcar had a guest they probably would have won.

Oh well.

Might take a while to get back to your old form after 10 weeks on the sidelines.

True, especially as Redcar still get a point for their part played in this epic.

Someone posted before the meeting that they couldn't get up for a meeting where both teams seem destined for the play offs.

Maybe that person will now review that opinion if they have witnessed the drama played out before us.

Just to add, if I dare, Erik Riss certainly didn't look right but only he will know.

I stand by that comment, as a neutral the match result, even the "stupid heat" meant very little. Had there not been play-offs it would've been the most important heat of the season (so far).

Now I'm sure Redcar & Poole fans cared about the result, myself find Berwick vs Oxford tonight more interesting.

As for the racing anyone there of course would want to see a superb match.

If you are going to go to a speedway meeting "as a neutral", then the result is never going to matter!  Now Newcastle has gone, I'm a neutral wherever I go (mainly Redcar as I find Berwick mightily boring) and don't really care about the result and hope I'm going to see a decent meeting.  Last night provided that.

We didn't lose (although it felt like it) we drew and Poole got the extra point. It was a great meeting, with both sides battling hard. But to battle hard, they had to have a good track to ride, Well done to Johnny and his team for producing an outstanding track despite the weather conditions.

A real class act, unassuming and does his job home and away.

Even more amazing how his PL average for 2023 was so low.

Poole looking good and the team to beat for me.
