That's just nonsense.  Obviously you've never been then.  Our holiday this year was £3k all in for two, that's flights, accommodation, all meals.  Even soft drinks were about 3.50 or 3.90 euros each.  Our booking for next year is nearly £2.9k and that's just to the tour operator, so any spending will add to the total.  That's the reality.  The initial headline figure might say it's £700 or £800 each, but it's probably just either room only or bed & breakfast, and the hotel might be far back from the beach.  If one of the more mainstream options near the beach, and meals added it soon jumps and the price each will be more like £1,200 or £1,300 or more and that's just mainstream.  By the time you're finished with the add ons such as seating together etc, there's not a lot of change out £3k.  If you think £3k is cheap then you're far better off than me.

Fact of the matter is the Canaries are not a cheap option, no matter how you try to skew it, you're kidding yourself on if you think it's cheap.  It isn't.  If it's just room only and about £800 x 2 so 'only' £1,600 to the tour operator, the true cost of food and drink will be a sizeable chunk on top and it veers towards the same figure, doesn't matter much how you do it - once you take account of everything.  Food and drink prices aren't much different to the UK.  Years ago it was a bit less than UK prices but not now.  But you have the sun and good weather.

More to the point, there's no need for the promoters to go to Tenerife for a conference.  Everything has practically been agreed anyway, some promoters have voiced that there's no need for the trip to Tenerife, that the meeting could easily be just a short 1 hour meeting in Rugby.  The more professional among them have voiced that it is completely unnecessary.

Good luck to them all if they can sort out all the problems in a one hour meeting?!

They don't even know for definite how many teams in each league - assuming there is more than one?!

If they can sort all the sports issues then a couple of days in the sunshine is the least they all deserve!

The more professional business-like promoters voiced that this holiday jolly to Tenerife is totally unnecessary.

If they want a holiday then fine but do so with their wife or family privately same as everyone else.

You haven't got it so I'll repeat.   There...  is.... NOTHING...  left...   to...   discuss!!!!!!!

What part of "there is nothing left to discuss" are you not getting?

They discussed everything at the p-re-meeting.  This is only a jolly.  They've no intention of discussing anything meaningful.

The more professional business-like promoters voiced that this holiday jolly to Tenerife is totally unnecessary.

In any case, if there are problems to sort out then it should be done in a business-like manner.  Not on a holiday jolly to Tenerife.  It's Mickey Mouse run by amateurs that haven't a clue how to conduct themselves.

If they want a holiday then fine but do so with their wife or family privately same as everyone else.

Make your mind up!

Are they Mickey Mouse amateurs, or 'more professional business-like promoters'?

Would be interesting to see which promoters YOU put into each group!

I said the more professional business-like promoters voiced that this holiday jolly to Tenerife is totally unnecessary.

Obviously they were in the minority and the amateur majority voted for it.  Its Mickey Mouse run by amateurs that haven't a clue how to conduct themselves.

Which promoters I put into each group - can you repeat that in English?

So how did the more professional business-like promoters allow themselves to be outnumbered by the MM amateurs?

Does that even make any sense.  That's like saying to you "How did Coventry allow themselves to be outnumbered by the rest of the UK"!! :o

If there are a minority of business-like professionals then what the amateur majority vote for is nothing to do with them.  It's just a sad reflection on why the sport has declined so much, they haven't a clue.  And going on a holiday jolly just confirms it.  Totally inappropriate.

I've seen some topics go off at a tangent into pretty pointless futile arguments... but how much does a week in Tenerife cost pretty much takes the biscuit... speaking of which, I wonder if you can get chocolate bourbons in Tenerife? :D

But, if like last year, there is nothing left to discuss then why did some teams with NDL sides say that we can not fit in all the fixtures so 2A 2H will have to go & only have 1H 1A plus the BSN & KOC competitions. Also, we will reduce the team declaration points from 42 to 40.

As I understand it those kind of decisions have already been made at the pre-meeting when anything of substance was discussed and agreed, and the Tenerife jaunt is just a holiday jolly @ reportedly £1,000 a head so if two joint promoters then as someone else observed on this thread that would be £2k per team, to rubber stamp in a quick meeting what they've already decided.  Totally unnecessary.

The established mafia who try to control the sport, have a rule that new promotions don't have voting rights for 2 years !!!

It would be reassuring to have a new "Five Year plan", providing they think League Speedway can continue for that long? B)

A long term plan is only any good if they actually stick to it and don't scrap it after two seasons

Two seasons is a good effort for their long term plans...usually gone after 1 year.
