Back in the day, track staff would know they were needed every Friday, maybe plan holidays around away matches or world finals if they were very keen not to miss a match. Nowadays, they may have other things to do on a Friday, but keep the calender clear on the rare occasions their club has a home match? I can understand, not wanting to keep every Friday clear when clubs maybe race twice a month on average, that could go for fans too? -
Similar story at Lynn when they have stocks/bangers. Peraonally I don't get it, oval car racing is gash IMO but they must do something right to get big crowds.

To be fair back in the good old days Towns and Cities had one or two big industries/employers so holidays were all at the same time.
