  1. This seems to be a convenient bandwagon for people to jump on but as somebody who attends Lynn meetings reasonably regularly I've never seen any evidence of this on a race night, i.e. no strutting around the pits or big ego etc. People will probably point out his mother or the argument he had with a fan during the Poole meeting both of which don't do him much good but I think people go over the top with their criticism and it's almost like people would rather give him a kicking than give him the benefit of the doubt because he is British and has talent. As a teenage sportsman he's not going to get everything right and learns as he goes along but he's not half as bad as people like to make out. You want him to have self belief but there is a fine line between that an arrogance. Generally speaking I think he stays on the right side of that.

  2. I'll be staggered if he isn't in Lynn's side. I think fan interaction is a positive thing but I think sometimes he could be more professional in what he writes.

  3. Very decent rider with the potential to go far, but needs to lose the attitude IMO if he isn't to become an also ran who will make himself a decent career without realizing its full potential.

  4. A little lad goes to visit Santa, sits on his knee and gets asked what his Christmas wish would be... "I would like a real life fire breathing Dragon that I could watch fly around my garden" was the lads answer... Santa, obviously a bit taken aback replied.... "Well, young fellow, even Santa will sometimes struggle to make everyones desires come true, have you another wish?" The young lad thought for a moment before answering,... "Yes, I would like to see Speedway in Britain ran professionally like other Sports, well marketed, and with a fit for purpose operating model and business plan that delivers no Mickey Mouse meetings, but instead a high quality night of entertainment both on, and off the track, each week".. Santa, ponders this for a quite a while before replying. . "What colour would you like that Dragon kid?" Merry Christmas Everyone....

  5. Having gone to the recording Tai came across very well indeed, to the point I had many people come up to me and ask about Tai and speedway. (Had my Clifton racing hoodie, and tw108 hat on) all said how well he came across and that he seemed outspoken but not in an arogant way. Clare Balding who I have seen discuss speedway before, also seemed very knowledgeable and understood the politics. Tai had great chemistry with fellow guests tai kwondo star Bianca (forgot her surname) and Frank Lampard. And it was a thoroughly entertaining evening.

  7. This is days old really, but not settled one way or the other. In a way and it has been said before, the main thing is a riders development and he has to make the decisions he thinks are best.I am not sure there is another sprt where fans turn on someone for choosing to go to a foreign team.Football players have done it for decades.European ice hockey or basketball players jump at the chance to get a contract in the US.Of course speedway is unique in that riders can choose to ride in numerous leagues, but we were always happy when we had the best league and had the advantage of seeing most of the worlds best riders. You have to see the other side now things have changed. Of course it is a bitter pill to swallow if Robert ends up riding for some team in the Bundesliga, but not for a British team.Fact is British or German teams and even lowly Polish teams are being used as a springboard to one of the top Polish or Swedish teams and on into the hoped for GP series etc.It is a fact of life and if any of us was in the same position we'd probably make the same choice

  12. Where once the list was long, now in retirement years, I have only a few requests; Firstly, I would to take this opportunity to wish fellow friends and foes a wonderful time and hope, for a short period at least, arguments can be put to one side and a glass raised with the best intentions.... Next, Many times I have asked that common sense takes over most rules, Sometimes the intentions is good but the implication leaves a lot to be desired. I'm sure if the sport was foremost in promoter's mind the sport could prosper... And lastly, because the number of fans have dropped alarmingly, would it be too much to ask, for those who are left to be valued as a important commodity. Where once our sport was the second most popular in this country, now we struggle to survive. Probably had those fans had been treated with more respect, probably some might still be there..... I know I'm asking a lot, but any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time, You take care....

  13. With no doubling up, and Doyle in the team I may return next season. Keep admission prices the same though !

  14. I can see why people are saying about the age of the team but that's just a number.. Look around at other teams? Your going to wolves without Lindgren , Swindon without Doyle ? What you have is solid base to start the season, we know how it works and it won't be the team that finishes it. Full of entertainers and a good British core, a team that fans can relate to and use last year as a base to work on. Not in their prime but no means over the hill with Bomber, Barker and Nicholls you are going to see some brilliant racing at home week in, week out. If say the Poole deal goes sour and you end up with Holder that would be amazing (if he fits average wise) KK is a risk but on that average one very much worth taking as you treat him right and he gets on well with bomber then you have a few who can mix it with Morris, Thorsell and co.

  16. It seems to be a problem in this country in general.British sportsmen always seem to get bad press, criticised for trying to be the best they can.People will always try to find the negatives rather than the positives in those sportsmen. Lambert is doing a decent job for his age,but as usual instead of praising the teenager many people would rather look at the negative side.

  28. I have no idea why Poole are trying to sign Holder. Had too many knocks, coupled with his rotten attitude, and is on the way down. His average reflects his present form and I cant see much improvement in it. Would be looking elsewhere if I was Matt Ford, espiecially if Holder doesnt even want to be there

  29. No loss missing out on Holder, a rider on the way down without a doubt.

  34. You will never get 'official confirmation' of situations such as this I was one that had heard both Holders had agreed terms with Somerset before even returning back to Oz for the winter With 2 months and an agm and then a few more weeks between then and now a lot can change - and has. Average restrictions, GP rider reassessments etc all have had their impact on how teams have gone about building their 1-7s Thats the trouble with trying to build early - you give your rivals chance to manipulate at the agm (and after where needed ) to thwart your plans...

  35. Sure he will. And within 4 weeks out of a job with no berths elsewhere. Think his wages will be performance tied, so up to him to earn a wage and pick up sponsors.

  36. Come on Stars fans..I'm sure Lynn will field a competitive team in 2018. Lets cheer up and look farward to 2018, and finding out the team in Jan.It's not long now !! Happy Christmas to all fans and get well soon Starman

  41. Tony Rickardsson for me. None bar Mauger has a World Championship record to rival it and I rate his all-round abilities as better than Mauger. He could do the lot. From the front or the back, on small tracks, big tracks, under pressure and was ultra professional. The others have now enjoyed decades and decades as legends and I think - in all sports - that can sometimes subconsciously elevate them above modern day greats. Tony Rickardsson was a true great in every sense of the word and also during an era than was not short of a few other absolute all-timers too. As for the suggestion that Jason Crump was better? Even Crump himself would disagree with that, he knew he was no2 whilst Rickardsson was around.

  43. Christmas Statement from the Save Coventry Speedway group. WE would like to extend our Season’s Greetings to all supporters of Speedway and Stock Car Racing at Coventry. Our thanks to all who have supported the Campaign Group efforts over the course of the year, and also to everyone who helped organise and supported the Challenge matches run in 2017 with Coventry Bees not running as part of the official league structure. It has been the worst year imaginable for everyone with a love for the sports at Brandon; from the shattering news that ‘agreements’ for future racing were not to be fulfilled, to the eventual omission of Coventry from the 2017 Premiership, to the deterioration in condition of the stadium throughout the year arising from the lack of security on-site by the owners. Brandon Estates bought the stadium for their own purposes, but in doing so they have shown zero regard for the 89-year history and heritage of the iconic venue, nor the fact that regular visits to Brandon to watch these family sports remained a way of life for many thousands of people throughout the season, right up until the end of 2016. In addition, the intransigence of the owners to engage in reasonable communication is a further indication of their motives, along with the material included within their official representations and public exhibition material – much of which is open to serious question. At the Exhibition in October, comments from the public were invited by planning consultants Framptons. We have seen a number of these responses, and the local reaction is clear - but as with the 2014 Exhibition arising from the initial plans, they appear to be a closely-guarded secret at this time. The display boards also indicated that an outline planning application would be submitted in Autumn 2017. At the time of writing, this has not taken place. We do not know the reason for that, but we can assure Brandon Estates – and their front-man, Monaco-based businessman John Downer – that as soon as their planning application is submitted, we will be ready with strong opposition. They must understand that they cannot simply take two major sports away from the region – sports which were both perfectly viable running in tandem at the stadium – merely on an outrageous speculative bid for development on land which had not been earmarked for that purpose, and expect everyone to sit back and let it happen. Our Campaign Group came together in its present form in the immediate aftermath of Coventry’s exclusion from the 2017 SGB Premiership, and our primary aim was to bring about a return to racing at the stadium for 2018 as well as establishing plans for the long-term continuation of both sports in the area. In those respects, we have regrettably been unsuccessful. The sheer depth of issues to be considered and resolved arising from the activities of recent years has been eye-opening in the extreme, and we have to respect the fact that the timescales of official business are sometimes longer than we would wish for. We believe there is tremendous momentum behind our campaign and overwhelming opposition to Brandon Estates' proposals. So our work will go on into 2018, and there are various events and hearings in the early part of the New Year which will play a vital part in matters going forward. Finally, we must emphasise to all who pass comment on the situation, often on social media, that the status of Brandon Stadium remains absolutely fundamental to the entire argument, and an acceptance that it has been lost to sport permanently is simply not an option. We wish every supporter of Speedway and Stock Car Racing a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, and we hope 2018 provides some encouragement to everyone who wishes to see our two famous sports restored to their rightful place.
