  1. You have most people wetting themselves regularly on this forum. Have you considered stand up comedy Steve? Stop me if you’ve heard this one. There were 2 Australians, 2 Danes, 2 Poles and an Englishman...

  3. Your posts are neither funny or clever. Stop being a moron with idiotic posts about Coventry on a Poole thread. Pathetic.

  7. The current formula in the SGP with sixteen riders, twenty heats, two semis, and the final, and all points scored counting for the world cahmpionship is simply the best they ever had.

  8. Oh! So end of the season now? We were all under the impression that your (not so) magnificent 7 were going to smash other teams from the off. Sounds like you have lost faith in your starting 1-7 already

  10. Depends on the length of gap, frequency, lack of communication, awful music, cold, whether you want burger..etc. I'd rather have a good efficient meeting & then enjoy ...

  11. Woz it's for fans like yourself that I will be attending Coventry next week and bringing people with me ..Your approach and attitude is great and I hope you get to watch your bees for years to come in whatever form just like us brummies do..

  12. Funny how czestochowa are leading the meeting and then the track gets mysteriously over watered which is unusual for gorzow and czestochowa fall apart

  13. Really odd this ..Wolves have done really well over years while running on a Monday other clubs has gone bust or lost loads of money like Eastie who ran on a weekend . But now because Belle Vue don't like running on Mondays somehow running on a Monday is now a massive problem for Wolves ?

  14. Though It was going to be slightly closer but Bees were just too good for IOW. Morley was excellent however. First 4 heats took an hour but fair play the following 11 heats were done by just after 5. Crowd was bigger than last week which is a bonus, i expect a few more when Birmingham visit next week.

  15. The opposition was very, very bad. Watched it and it was a one sided borefest. Still, you can only beat what is in front of your and Cook did that easily. Should boost his confidence as well as his pay packet.

  16. You are incorrect, Ladbrokes who own the stadium, decided to close the home straight, nothing to do with lack of speedway numbers. In 1996 when Wolves reached the KO Cup final we had to race the 'home' leg of the final at Long Eaton while alterations to the greyhound track were going on. Not exactly ideal eh ? But renting a track, you are totally in the hands of the landlord.

  17. According to Roy Clarke last night he would be missing for 10 days.Mind ,he also asked Nathan Greaves if he would ride as a guest next Saturday if asked. He might be a wee bit lonely if he does come up seeing as there's no meeting.

  22. This forum wouldn’t exist if it wasn’t for a bit of banter. It would be more of a borefest than it is now. People should never be afraid of throwing down the gauntlet. Being afraid of a sentence coming back at you is ridiculous. And I believe by the end of the season we will smash Swindon. Bookmark it ready to throw it back!

  23. Couldnt disagree more and it hasnt worked in the past.. the polish kids are far and away the best in the world because they get used to riding under pressure early on. Tai Woffinden also rode in Poland early in his carrer and he is our only top line rider... if you want to get to the top you need to get used to riding under pressure

  24. Perfect weather for today's meeting, a nice 21°c. Hopefully a better crowd than last week!

  25. Brits have helped each other in the past...I guess the question is maybe whether there was anyone there to make the riders aware of the situation. In his first big meeting I can imagine that Dan wouldn't have been thinking about permutations for others...Even Robert might not have been thinking of Dan as a threat given his performance up to then...they would have needed someone to have a word...and I'm guessing no-one did that. Edit - Just saw teaboys comment. Hopefully Lambert will get one of the wildcards. Harris, not so much.

  26. I guarantee no other country in the world would have let this happen with Lambert needing a win to progress We really are the best at making things hard for ourselves

  27. One big league is nonesense. Fans will not come for Poole v Redcar or Berwick. How is that going to pack out stadiums? Clubs like Sheffield and Ipswich should be in the top flight and they way they acted when the premership wanted Mondays and Thursdays was frankly disgraceful.

  28. Depends on what you want i guess. I'd rather a meeting take as long as it does, ends 9.45 ish within reason, than go race, race race and end at 9.15..I know you get to see the same amount of races, but for me its a night out.

  30. Easy home win :- 1 We are not riding that well away 2 Poole is not a good track for us. Unlike jokers like Shovlar, I can be realistic.

  31. That's a shame... Well at least we might win at Edinburgh then Edinburgh and Brough are both tight tracks and Kevin is more of a number 1 than any of the other riders we have...

  32. So we use another teams reserve as our heat leader and carry r/r really and they expect a good crowd ????

  33. Spot on mikebv. I made a comment in a post back in August 2015 that I thought the league table was a 'mysterious work of fiction'. When asked 'why?' I wrote this below, and still some other contributors didn't seem to accept the points I was making. Thankfully the Double Points Tac Ride has now gone, but I do think many speedway fans really can't see the wood for the trees. I will admit I'll still be there tomorrow night but only because it is at the NSS. I do enjoy it but I now treat each match as an individual night of entertainment, and all thoughts of it being a bona fide league competition were dispelled in my mind a long time ago. Had we still been at the Dog Track then I definitely wouldn't be there. Report post Posted August 20, 2015 Sorry, been away for a few days – but you ask why the league table is ‘a work of mysterious fiction’. FICTION 1. GUESTS In modern day speedway our teams are, for whatever reason, increasingly NOT racing against their opponents’ declared 1-7s, with guests being employed in numerous matches week-in, week-out. Infact, whenever there is a match without any guests and / or R/R it is noted as being somewhat remarkable. Last night’s postponed match at Belle Vue, for example, was set to be the Aces 13th home Elite League match of the season. Had it gone ahead, the 13 matches would have seen the opponents arrive at Kirky Lane with 12 guests and 2 operating R/R. In another example, in the four Belle Vue / Lakeside matches this season there were 12 guests used and 2 R/Rs!! What makes the situation look even sillier with guests is that you might see a particular rider at your track guesting for an opponent, but is then absent when his own team visits. Or your own team has a rider missing at an away track, but then he appears at that track guesting for someone else. The choice of guests is, quite understandably, made on a ‘horse-for-courses’ basis wherever possible and a team may well have a guest rider in its line-up at a particular track where he performs considerably better than the rider he’s replaced. So if the ‘real’ Team A isn’t taking on the ‘real’ Team B the result can hardly be ‘real’ and so have little credibility. The result is likely to bear no resemblance when teams are full of guests to what it would have been with their own riders - so the result becomes a work of fiction of sorts. 2. DOUBLE POINTS TACTICAL RIDE RULE Yes here we are again - but if a team ‘wins’ 47-46 by virtue of using this rule then in reality out on the track they’ve actually lost 44-46. What is worse is that if their opponents are the home team, they’re considered to have ‘lost’ and get no match points at all - despite scoring a real match winning total of 46 points out on the track. Absolutely ridiculous!!!! And yet more fiction. MYSTERIOUS The mystery is how supporters continue to have the patience to put up with it? It certainly isn’t doing any favours in attracting new supporters. Over the years I’ve taken several ‘first-timers’ to speedway and, for the most part, they’ve enjoyed the spectacle. Get onto explaining the rules and answering their questions about team line-ups and they soon lose interest. I took a couple to a double header at Belle Vue last season (I think it was last season) and two riders were riding as guests for one team in the first match and then for their own team in the second – the couple were very confused to say the least and just laughed in my face when I explained things to them. ‘How on earth can you take speedway seriously’ they asked. I really didn’t have an answer. Anyhow, I’ll continue to enjoy speedway match by match and try to put out of my mind just how a team has been cobbled together for that particular night. It's not something to agree or disagree on, it's not opinion. The current guest / double points tactical ride systems make the league table a 'mysterious work of fiction'. No if's or buts about it.

  34. He can’t help it. It’s a personality disorder. Google “someone who says the same thing over and over again”. It’s a bit OCD with dementia thrown in. Rather than take the P out of Gavan we should sympathise with his condition.

  35. Bellego showing what a rider can do under a good manager like Rosco, getting the best out of average riders. Holder always had the talent maybe Poole kept the wrong young Aussie? Still time for Kurtz to come good in the UK and get to the level of Morris over here, good young rider great style and hope he kicks on his career rather then stall

  47. Good luck. It seems the crucial point is to totally reject Brandon Estates' claim that the site is redundant, that both sports have moved on to alternate venues and that there is no professional interest in running the sports at the stadium. This is where the supporters can make a difference in proving there is still a demand for the sports, that the running of the Bees at Leicester is and can only be a temporary move, rather like Coventry City's enforced short-term move to Northampton, and that there are promotions waiting to take it on. In the case of the stock cars I would imagine there would be quite a queue. Bear in mind for BriSCA stock car racing Brandon is their equivalent of Manchester's NSS and if it is their leverage that is needed then it must be totally embraced. Brandon is one track where speedway and stock cars have shared in harmony for decades. That unity is never more vital than now.

  50. So we revert to the problems of doubling-up clashes? It's a big problem either way but I can't see any changes happening until the season is over. Personally I would prefer one big league and any riders missing for continental league engagements only being replaceable by a NL rider, that way promoters might be a bit more careful about who they sign.
