It is fair point that too many teams were permitted to ride on Friday nights. That doesn't change the fact that their fixtures were published and agreed. It is appalling that three teams were told that they could not run those meetings part way through the season - And whatever you might say, I don't think there is any doubt at all at whose behest the goalposts were moved.13 points

I don’t agree, Riss looked at fault for that crash from our viewpoint.5 points

Best team we have had for god knows how long and we won’t make the play offs as we can’t fit our meetings in, after the driest summer for years. You couldn’t make it up lol.4 points

So Ipswich have thrown the whole towel in now and completely given up. Season over in three weeks, will be glad to see the back of this season and hopefully we will have more fixtures next season as this year has been a joke.3 points

Christ, this had taken a dark turn since I last looked in. I was going to add my bit about super Dan but I’ll not bother now for fear of being insulted. For what it’s worth I think anyone should be able to compare any two speedway riders on a speedway forum without fear of abuse.3 points

Although the Witches were weakened with the loss of their top 2, MPT would have loved that slick track with opportunities to pass up the inside. Hawkins is clueless.3 points

Right I went to Ipswich tonight my interest was to see Drew Kemp make his home debut this being my first visit of 2018. The presentation was OK the racing was enjoyable and the match was kept alive by a mini Ipswich fight back. The promotions do need to find away of putting more meat on the bone for the money paid at the turnstiles above and beyond 15 heats. There needs to be more crowd interaction this requires having the right presenting team and the willingness of the riders and management to partake. I still maintain my points on guesting and doubling up. Those 6 Ipswich riders are only hired hands you can tell that the bind between riders and crowd is not what it was. Its very difficult to build up rivalry between teams when tomorrow night the visitors number one is in your team and next week he riders for you at home. I came away not bothered by a home loss in the old days i would have been really pi##ed off by a loss at home just because I went to see speedway heats and not a team event. But I saw enough to believe that something is still there to rescue. Will I return? Yes I will maybe not until next season who knows but when I fancy a night at speedway. what I really want is a professionally run sport with a team or riders who only rise for your team so I can get the buzz of following my team again once that's back then yes I would be there every week.3 points

Brilliant multi-page tribute to Ronnie Moore in today's Speedway Star. The (older) writers have really come in to their own in the last few weeks and months when they have had to cover the deaths of such big names in the Sport. They clearly write from great knowledge and personal experience that hasbeen wonderful to read; despite the tragic circumstances. Puts some of the modern articles on up to date issues that, all too often, do little more than regurgitate press releases into the shade. And the brilliant cover photo of Ronnie is just as stunning as the earlier one of Ivan ... Just great.3 points

So is Paul Starke if you believe the grape vine. Neither will be back next year time for another new 1 - 7 , makes you wonder who is selecting the riders to represent us. But eveything will be fine again.2 points

One lesson for Glasgow management tonight - DON'T MESS WITH RIDING ORDER! 1) Harris and Starke didn't know where each other were most of the time 2) If you put a rider at a different number make sure he knows what gate he takes his first ride from. Vissing went to the wrong gate for his first ride and was told to move by the start marshall and rather than turn round he went on to the centre green and got excluded. On another note why did the Edinburgh management only choose to show replays of certain exclusions? In ht9 it appeared that Vissing was pushed wide and taken down to the extent that an Edinburgh rider slowed down expecting the race to stopped before the red light came on. Vissing was, in many fans of both teams wrongly excluded. The replay wasn't shown. Later on Riss was rightly excluded after locking up and falling on his own and the replay shown on the big screen several times. Then in ht 15 many thought Wells was taken down but the ref invited 3 back (Worrall had already been excluded). The replay of the Wells incident was shown several times showing he was taken down. Were Edinburgh trying to influence the ref it has to be asked. Surely a rule has to be brought in saying it's either all or no replays?2 points

Aggravated his shoulder injury so pulled out - sensible move as right to put getting fit for his own team first Thanks to Scunny being piss poor we didnt miss him2 points

Well done to Edinburgh certainly done a number on us tonight , they will beat anyone over 2 legs in the play offs. For us thankfully it seems Ben Barker rode well as did Starke , we can forget the play off's we are just not good enough, back to the drawing board.2 points

Take a bow Drew Kemp - what a performance The silver lining to a big cloud of a season Also - Couldve easily just walked off after his fall disappointed on missing his max but instead got back on just in case and picked up an extra point2 points

So sad to loose one of the greats. I remember him as part of the "fabulous five" - Moore, Craven, Briggs, Knutsson, and Fundin in the early 60's - they started of 30 yards as they were so good. I missed him at his probable best in the mid-late fifties, but yes, something special to watch when I did see him.2 points

Bit late - but some say I only do negative comments- so a big well done and a big 6 points - on to the next one - ps I might just make an appearance Wednesday night .2 points

6 down - can be used more than once and in the nominated heats 14 and 15- i think i`m right in saying that a T/S can only be used to replace a rider in the 1 to 52 points

Am I reading this right, you're suggesting Dan has more talent in his left ear than both Madsen & Auty combined? Can't argue with that.2 points

I never have an issue with guests replacing injured riders as I cannot think of an affordable alternative save for R/R.2 points

A further update: Workington H5 A8 +12 Lakeside H7 A7 +11 Peterborough H9 A8 +11 Edinburgh H6 A8 +7 Glasgow H7 A7 +6 Ipswich H7 A8 +2 Berwick H10 A7 +1 Newcastle H7 A6 0 Scunthorpe H8 A8 -3 Redcar H8 A9 -7 Sheffield H10 A8 -15 Provided Workington can get their home meetings in, it looks very much like three of the top four are more or less done and dusted. Crucial weekend for the two Scottish teams - here's hoping that all riders stay safe this weekend.2 points

I Must say last night turned into a good meeting after all the doom and gloom of cancellation at the last meeting, the track staff did well and Graham is the best man in the business at track preparation allowing for his limited time now on thursday due to the running the dogs until 6 o'clock, i thought the track was very good. Also the promotion over the last 5 years have worked at length to improve the speedway, may i add we have won silverware again this year so onwards and upwards for next season, the team will be back on track next year we have just had a blip the last few weeks All the moaners and negative people need to look what Sheffield has done the last five years after barron years and second rate riders since 2002, Well done the promotion for keeping Sheffield going, we all know if not for them there would be no speedway in Sheffield. I will be supporting the Tigers in 20192 points

Left this meeting with mixed feelings. Would have been more than happy if someone had offered me a point when 13 points down after 10 having lost our top 'reserve' but ultimately i found myself a little disappointed after we missed the opportunity to register an away win, especially after believing we had the impetus and riders to bring all the points home. Over the first 4 heats we were clearly second best as some of the boys looked like they didn't fancy the track conditions which incidentally improved markedly after just a few heats. After finding ourselves 8 points down after 4 we pulled it back to 22-20 after 7. Heat 8 ultimately turned the meeting back in the Bears favour. After gating on a 5-1 Rene suddenly got straightened up and ended in the air fence leaving Rasmus as the only Comet in the re-run only for the battling Dane to be unjustly excluded following a first bend incident in which Lunna gave him nowhere to go and took him to the fence. The Bears were now 7 up but it was to get even better for the home team as a subsequent 4-2 & 5-1 in heats 9 and 10 which included a Comets tac sub put them 13 points up with 5 heats remaining. From 13 behind i thought the meeting had slipped away from us but the lads responded really well to outscore the Bears over the last 5 heats by 21-9 . A draw would have been a fair result but the missing point precluded that outcome. The Bears look a lot more solid since the team changes and it was noteable that the reserves chipped in with 14 points between them. Of the others Barker and Lunna impressed most hence their inclusion in heat 15. Ex Comet Tommy Jorgensen who has been impressing with Kings Lynn this season will have been disappointed with his 4 from 4 . The Comets will be disappointed not taking the win after supplying 9 race winners but 10 last places ultimately tilted the odds . Dan was stand out especially in his last two races and is a joy to watch, he was well supported by Ty who frustratingly for him finished last in hard fought heats 9 and 15. Rasser continues to be one of our most consistent performers and battled hard for his 7 from 4 tonight which included the exclusion. Nicoloai improved as the meeting wore on and had really got the starts sorted to the point where i expected him coming out for 15. Mason was having his usual Redcar performance until he redeemed himself with the win in heat 14 which helped secure the point and gave us the chance of all 3. I was delighted to see young Kyle battling for points in the latter stages and he got his just rewards with two third places. Rene had a night he will want to forget at a track were historically he does very well, theres no doubt if he hadn't aggravated an old shoulder injury he may well have proved crucial. Hope the injury doesn't keep him out of what is a vital weekend in the quest to make the playoffs. Thought it was a little bit cheeky of the Bears promotion to put a folded racecard insert (containing no other information) inside a rained off Sheffield Tigers meeting program and charge £2-50.2 points

White flag raised in advance with that booking. Total lack of aspiration. We've known about this for around 5 weeks since Cook signed. Dickson would have been doing his homework and come up with better.2 points

They had blank Friday's because that Pikey Godfrey pulled the plug on authorised fixture dates, then blocked revised fixtures on reserved dates. Even the fixture for Glasgow to come on 14th September is not showing on the BSPA website, so goodness knows what is going on there. The BSPA under the leadership of Chapman and Godfrey has gone from bad to worse and it hasn't it bottom yet.1 point

As they don't bother to read feedback with positive ideas ( as many people put up ) they are unlikely to see this wonderful parody ( very Monty Python) and thus the shambles that is UK speedway will go on in that phrase I now see as most appropriate " managed decline awaits'.1 point

Yes, I think so. Say what you want about Clarke Osborne, he definitely plans the long game. There are tens of millions of pounds worth of housing to be built on the land where the new stadium was supposed to go. I can't see him jeopardising that upsetting the council/speedway fans. For me, the biggest short term issue must be the houses they have built right next to the pits. The noise there must be insufferable during meetings. I still think the best solution is for the club to cut a deal with Osborne, agree for the stadium to be demolished and housing put in it's place, in exchange for a downpayment to the club for a new stadium elsewhere in Swindon away from any potential new developments. I simply cannot see a long term future for the Robins at the Abbey now that is almost completely surrounded by homes.1 point

But, you're not RR and don't know who he is! Jack Smith hasn't been the problem. The way the side was put together, there was no choice but t have the lowest average rider in the league at number 7, and whoever was there was never going to score. The problem was more inconsistencies in the top 5. If everyone had scored consistently at what they could, the lack of a number 7 would have been covered. There were no obvious replacements out there either - the posts of a poster who writes in a similar style to yourself but, quite obviously isn't you because you said so, prove it. Whatever options came up for possible changes, none were any better than what we had. And that includes at number 7.1 point

Redcar much stronger since the addition of Jorgensen, Berge and Lunna. Hopefully team Comets will be focused and determined to try and get something from the meeting. Rene usually does pretty well at Redcar so could hopefully be a trump card from reserve. Agree with Taylorj, it will be good to see our full 1-7 in action again and i'm especially looking forward to seeing young Dan back in the big C, hope he has a big one !. Enjoy my visits to Redcar so hopefully the weather behaves itself. Up the Comets !!1 point
