Just think, if Adam had been considered good enough to be offered both meetings for Poole this would never have occurred ?11 points

What a shame, a superb fightback from Kings Lynn scuppered by one man, the referee.8 points

The one thing I know for certain is that when I first went to Speedway as a young kid in either 1967 or 68 there was no shortage of people to tell you how much better it was in the old days or how much better the riders and bikes were! I have no problem with opinions but surely they should be based on some knowledge and when I see modern day riders disparaged as all they have to do is hold the throttle wide open and hang on it does bite. The bikes have changed and so have the tracks but a modern bike drives as hard on a slick track as an old one did in deep dirt. Anybody who thinks decent modern riders don't use fantastic throttle control to go fast doesn't pay enough attention to what is going on.7 points

Rules have been amended. Ellis now guests for Lynn in both meetings and morris for Poole in both meetings7 points

This is getting worse, Harris touched the tapes first then! Absolute biased drivel.6 points

I love Rob Gofreys comment : “ There was risk of damaging the credibility of the sport........”6 points

You are over the limit. You have broken the rules. 'Agreements' and 'Both sides agreeing' are everything that is wrong with the sport. Common sense is utterly irrelevant. RULES should be stuck too.6 points

If Ellis rides for both teams, british speedway doesn’t deserve a fan base, it’s an embarrassment6 points
-
I am a complete neutral, have been involved in speedway for over 50 years (including riding a bit) only watched the last 5 heats as I had other commitments, but what I saw was Poole + the referee v. Kings Lynn!!!!! speedway digs itself future in it's grave..........5 points
-
It's been confirmed that the ref did indeed have tv replays. OMG makes it even worse5 points
-
Thank goodness it's deemed completely credible to watch two Swindon riders racing against each other, after spending all season long riding as Swindon team mates, who will now try and win titles for two teams, neither of which are Swindon... Phew... Well done the BSPA... Could have been a tad embarrassing if they hadn't sorted it so well...5 points
-
Whilst it would have made more sense if the guests were the other way round, surely Speedway has become too obsessed with averages in recent years, and if both teams agree on this then I don't see too much of a problem with it.5 points
-
Mine isn't, because, whatever happens, Swindon are still victorious. Win win5 points

Then surely as hell have no speedway income for the next five months he’s free to accept any guest bookings that come his way ? He lost last winter after having his wrist plated and spent three months in plaster, he may have to have his shoulder operated on this winter. He’s self employed and it’s nearly the end of the season. What you will will get is a rider who gives 100%to the club he’s representing on the night.5 points

Oh my good god. What an absolutely utterly disgraceful decision!4 points
-
In this case, it was. Common sense has prevailed. And that can be seen by everyone with common sense.4 points

I usually hate it when the 'in the best interests' line is trotted out because very often the decision made quite obviously isnt! However this time I do genuinely believe that the solution IS in the best interests of the sport compared to running the 2 legs and the teams swapping guests at half time However ideally the regs shouldve been in place to prevent it anyway so it is still only the best if a bad job4 points

I think you only have to see what he did on Saturday when the real pressure was on to get the answer to that.4 points

A view totally lacking in foundation and fact. I'm assuming you are talking about Doyle with regards to a rider who has 'only risen up the ranks' due to other riders retiring? May as well say the same about Mauger then. That just shows what a foolish statement that is. Doyle 'rose up through the ranks' because he looked at what other riders were doing and tried to improve on it. Basically stopped messing around and took the whole thing to a far more serious professional level. Funnily enough, just like Mauger did. As for the 45 year old, might want to work on your Maths first of all. Secondly, he too, after many years of 'going through the motions' realised he had to either step down from GP's completely or refocus and take the thing a whole lot more seriously. He chose the second route. You don't need to be 'kidded'. It's a reality, riders today are far more professional and are way above the standards of yesteryear. That's not even a debate. That isn't to say riders of yesteryear wouldn't be able to compete if they rode in this era because many of them would adapt and become more professional themselves, certainly the likes of Mauger would. There are some who would not however and drop down the ranks... just as there are some now who have all the talent but lack the overall package.4 points

The farce is the rules allowing it. This is for the Premiership title, Imagine if he scores 10 for Poole and 2 for Kings Lynn in the two fixtures? That would make the whole season a farce. Both teams please go with R/R for the sanity of the sport.4 points
-
This is why the governing body should be independent, you can all get on your high horses about Buster all you like BUT push cones to shove he is in a no win situation. If he didn't use Adam Ellis tomorrow he would not be doing his Kings Lynn position justice. And by allowing it to happen he is not doing British speedway chairmanship justice. Until regulations are set independently from those with vested interests then these sorts of circumstances will always crop up. And any Poole fan who thinks that Ford and Middleditch would nt have done exactly the same if roles were reversed, are blinkered beyond belief.4 points

So can someone please tell me what King’s Lynn have done wrong? Should they go into the biggest 2 meetings with r/r and hand the league to Poole?? The majority of Poole fans having a go at Lynn is laughable all the rule bending and stunts pulled over the years and now King’s Lynn have broke NO rules at all and the Poole fans think that Ellis shouldn’t ride in the best interest of the sport!!! You have to laugh at the double standards of the fools on the south coast. I’m sure if it was the other way round not one Poole fan would moan about the sports credibility. How many riders are available to Kings Lynn for tomorrow??? Hardly any. So the Kings Lynn promotion should ‘ in the interests of the sport’ not book the best guest available lol Poole has it easy in the semis against a weakened Somerset and have now seen a gp rider replaced by a third heat leader and they panicking. I love the mob from the south coast with the party lines all set up now...... we won despite Kings Lynn using Ellis / we lost because Kings Lynn used Ellis....... just delete as appropriate. Poole fans thinking Kings Lynn should just hand the trophy to them! Kurtz injured first .....Poole can get best guest available Iversen injured........how dare Kings Lynn get the next best guest!! Come on you Stars4 points

The MPT/Jackobsen decision put the brake on the Lynn fight back and the subsequent requirement to use Simon Lambert twice more hurt them too3 points

It amazes me how short-sighted people are when they say, "Oh, it's a lot easier to win this way blah, blah, blah.." or it was "More difficult in those days blah blah blah..." If it is "easier for Tai", then it is EASIER FOR EVERYONE! If it was "More difficult back then" then it was MORE DIFFICULT FOR EVERYONE BACK THEN! Whatever system/format is used, ALL riders go into it with the same chances! They ALL know the format, but like it or loathe it, it is the same for everyone! Jeez... Steve3 points

Honestly You haven't got a clue pal, come and look me up when you come down and I will put you in the picture, and as the Workington Trust facilitator I have the ideas just not the disposable cash to put them into action, (and I am not short of a bob or two) however, you may know some of the ideas like spending £200k+ on advertisement of the sport to put an additional 64/66 on the crowd, so even if we call it 70 who then spend £25 each on a match day that's £35,000 back in the coffers over the season for a £200K expenditure, so yep that makes good business sense doesn't it? and I wont go down the salary root as that just makes a mockery of the sport when a guy makes more riding in Scotland for a championship club than Poland, or a 3 point reserve gets a better deal than other clubs No 1? so yes make no bones about it "Bank Rolling the club", (which is exactly what is happening) and that is only bad when its to the detriment of all others isn't it. (which is also exactly what is happening) I also wont go down the route of commenting on "the infrastructure" that now sees Stewart Dickson as a co-promoter at Leicester and what went on there, but they obviously went to the Mike Ashley School of Business, a case of "I'm all right Jack" "fox you" Further and for the record I am not sure anyone from the Workington promotion called anyone a "Bar Steward" and they certainly haven't upset the BSPA as far as I am aware and you have answered your own question you clown "Laura and her partners pour money (that she (nor they) can probably ill afford) down the drain that is Workington speedway." This is due to the fact that they do not have the disposable cash to "Bank Roll" the club, its got feck all to do with being good at business Speedway as a business is virtually redundant and as countless people on here have pointed out. "unless there are changes there will be more casualties than Worky " Honest Having the disposable cash to "Pish it up agin a wall" and not give a "rats ass" on what you spend; and not care whether the business is profitable or not is one thing' and good luck if you can afford to do this; however trying to run a business model where there is a culture of being shafted by your fellow competitors (not wanting to come on originally agreed dates for a start) on a reducing turnover with increasing costs is another. Oh and here's a thought; the Newcastle promotion got a parliamentary group set up for Speedway for continuous promotion of the sport at a national level so "Eggheads" is right up there with that like eh" so a can see where you are coming from!!!. I remember when a team from Carrillion were on there and look what happened to them!!! Dickheads more like; Honestly you have a cheek calling the Edinburgh lot "Smug" and to have a pop at Jenga and TaylorJ about their support of their chosen club (and I agree they can be somewhat embarrassing at times) but this when the "Tiggs" have some of the most vociferous know nothing "Dickheads" imaginable on here is also a bit rich. The offer is there come and see me before the Play off meeting at DP and I will get the beers and bites in (you can try the food at DP and post from experience for a change) or if you don't drink I can supply plenty of tea and coffee (Sorry we don't do Bucky unfortunately) but I can even supply a nice Malt, but this will be from the east coast which will probably prejudice you against drinking it. However we will depart as friends and you may learn a few home truths that open your eyes not only about our sport but about your beloved promotion that you are so "sook" about. Ask the lasses in the Programme or the 50/50 Draw Ticket Booths and they will point me out, look forward to meeting up with your good self; oh and if you go to the doctors and get a prescription for some "ursodeoxycholic acid" or ask for a "proton pump inhibitor" I think you will find it most beneficial Regards THJ3 points

A better and more sensible solution would have been to have told Lynn they can’t use either rider as both had a deal with Poole. Use r/r or another guest. Fair and sensible.3 points
-
Poole being forced to use Nick Morris at the last moment leaves them much weaker as it has unsettled the club and well, the whole of the town really. Kings Lynn's name already on the trophy/plaque/whatever.....3 points
-
The rules were simple and Kings Lynn didnt break any. Poole were gifted the semi final because of Somersets injurys and 5 man team..............and now you want a walkover in the final. Nick Morris riding at Lynn on Wednesday makes the sport a farce..................the team is illegal..............not that that bothers Poole as they have the Swindon number two up against Swindons number four...................with a gp rider missing from his home track...................... Poole have had some really hollow title wins....................this will be the worst3 points
-
Kings Lynn didn’t want Morris. They wanted Ellis for both legs. Poole backed down for the good of the sport.3 points

These should be cracking meetings , could go either way , without Cookie I suspect it will be much harder for the Tiggers and would also depend on our reserve guest. The comets have a really good strength in depth and a very strong reserve. If Glasgow don't get through then I hope the comets take the prize , got to keep it in the north, and before I get slagged for saying this , I am over my previous rant in another post .I met some lovely Workington fans on the plane to Torun and we had some good natured banter.3 points

Think you are going way way over the top whilst it’s a shame he crashed yesterday and is now suffering the effects - he could just as easily hurt himself doing say diy at home we can’t wrap riders up in cotton wool - riders are free to earn a living Iversen is not just contracted to ride for Kings Lynn - personally I think Iversen has served the Stars well over the years and I’m certainly not going to criticise him for riding in Gollobs meeting - so if he’d crashed in the GP what you have said then ? Shouldn’t have raced in it ?3 points

The fact it is allowed within the rules is no excuse whatsoever for bringing the sport into disrepute. They could prevent it happening by for once using the, "in the best interests of the sport" rule, usually used to allow the bending the rules. The third rule that needs to be changed is to allow riders with genuine season ending injuries to be replaced after the deadline for team changes. However, it would have to be drafted in such a way as to require medical evidence from 2 doctors and include that the team concerned would have any points scored by the replacement deducted if the injured rider rode again anywhere in the world before the end of the UK season or, at least before the play offs were over.3 points

Unofficial thread up to 45 pages now... Don't people know they're in the wrong place!3 points

Reading the above, there are 2 rules which need to change as a matter of course. The first one is that a rider cannot ride for both teams in the final. The second rule is that riders from the rwo defeated semi final teams also become allegeable to be used as guests.3 points

Speedway in the UK has this remarkable ability to shoot itself in the foot far too often. Anybody can see what a farce this is and how it further destroys the credibility of the sport. Both promotions, the BSPA and the SCB need to find a solution that doesn't make the sport and the play offs look ridiculous. It's not difficult, as many have suggested r/r, whilst not ideal, at least avoids it being a pantomime. This is yet another example of those responsible putting the interests of club before the interests of the sport at large. They should be ashamed of themselves.3 points

Disagree. He took a hell of a whack. Concussion can leave you feeling all over the place. Plus he landed on his collarbone.3 points

I didn't know they had changed it for one and not all. That just proves how poorly ran the sport is.3 points

And they changed the rules after that fiasco. But guess what. They effing forgot to implement it in the Premer league playoffs hence this ridiculous situation. Sorry Lisa you beat me to it.3 points

Would be great for me to see him ride on a regular basis, would be great for the club and his sponsors who have supported him so far. Would it be good for Leons career, probably not, so I look at the bigger picture, Leon needs to be going to where he can advance the most, I feel that is elsewhere. Leon is intelligent enough to make his own decision, and at the end of the day it is what he wants, and I hope no individual is placing any pressure on him.3 points
