So what evidence do you have of that ? An honorable man involved in that budget has already stated you are incorrect, so maybe you could provide us the evidence to back up your opinion...6 points

Instead of being an arse on here and seeing that you seem to have a lot of time on your hands, why not pop down to the stadium and offer to help with the covers. They may even offer you free admission as a reward6 points

This one has a cracker written all over it. Strong heat leaders on both sides and some of the best young talent also on show. Tough one to call but Im thinking the Bears will take the points, but by a slender margin. Get along and enjoy some top class action on one of the very best race tracks in the country.5 points

Just thought I'd have a quick look to see how Swindon's new stadium was coming along, but I seem to have stumbled onto a Belle Vue slanging match thread.4 points

I see once again our club are not encouraging families to come to speedway in Poole with there charges for children only the under fives are free considering most clubs give good discounts for under sixteen year olds in fact most are free !!!!4 points

We are far from sad and confused we all know your a clown , no confusion there.3 points

Come now, that doesn’t fit in with the agenda. As I’ve said before twenty other riders didn’t have an issue with the club themes including bigger names than Mr Cook.3 points

Sorry Orion and pinny, but you have the attitude “you know best” and in spite of what was said as an alternative you both went on as if you were right others wrong. What we don’t know, unless I missed the headlines, what part did the speedway promotors association have in the final outcome. There seemed to be a lot of jealousy from some quarters, “the cheek of it all, someone getting the council to not only support a new stadium in the middle of housing, but to actually get them to pay for it, millions at that”. Maybe you two are of that class, after all, one of you shows location as Aussie, and the other in noodle land. Anyway, this is a Swindon thread, so as pointed out we are well off topic.3 points

I take it Peterbrough altered their track then, i'm sure last time I went show ground was big fast and open. young Dan needs time and no pressure putting on him3 points

I just can't see where fans standing around on a cold night waiting for Twitter votes to be made and counted can be entertaining . I think this voting by the fans idea is ridiculous .3 points

I wouldn't take to much notice of Daniel,he wants all the East Anglian clubs to fail. Bit miffed to see such a scoreline, but it is early doors.Wouldn't have minded so much if these scores went onto the averages but i don't think they do.If they did i would like to have thought they were average manipulating already,in earnest to make changes for the PL. Anyway congratulations to Ipswich on the demolition of my Stars teamObviously the best team by far on the night.Hopefully we will get some kind of revenge in 11 days time. That will be the first match i will be able to attend this season.Hoping to see plenty of Witches fans there.2 points

Anyone think this Stars team will deliver needs a reality check. Reserves abysmal and asking Kerr to deliver in the top 5 is a an ask. If Lambert has a bad day we're stuffed as proven. 1st meeting of the season or not, we've been shown up big time against the other weakest team in the league. Let the Wooden Spoon battle commence with this current septet.2 points

Ostergaard has struggled last 3 years now, but lets be honest Newman seems to have struggled again last night, but every year people keep saying he's a bargain average. The Brummies in for a long season2 points

It'll be an easy home win, not because BV have a particularly good team but because t'other lot have cut their own throats.2 points

Indeed, doesn’t seem like a money issue to me. Harris released to bolster Ipswich and solve the Tungate issue, Cook didn’t sign due to the sponsorship disagreement. Could be wrong of course but that’s how it looks to me.2 points

Are we the weakest team? Reserves who will score a lot of points every home meeting and a solid 1-5 who will score 7 or more in most meetings. Lynn look worse than us and so do Peterborough. Only need one other team to struggle and we can make the play offs in my opinion. Only Belle Vue look really strong this season1 point

Maybe the rumour that Gomolski was on the way was confusing the wrong Kacper?! It was announced at Poole's P&P today that Kacper WORYNA had turned down 4 approaches from Premiership clubs - the most recent from Peterborough a few days ago!! He will only return if its to Wimborne Road!!1 point

I'm not sure, but I seem to remember the lighting was re-used from the football pitches that were near the club house so they may be older than that,1 point

Now that this thread has stumbled onto BSF, as long as there are no call offs the teams look to be lining up as follows. Berwick 1 Aaron Summers 2 Kevin Doolan 3 Danny Gappmaier 4 Jye Etheridge 5 NB Jacobsen 6 Coty Garcia 7 Leon Flint Newcastle 1 Steve Worrall 2 Simon Lambert 3 Lasse Bjerre 4 Mathew Wethers 5 Thomas Jorgensen 6 Danny Phillips 7 Max Clegg Our local loon seems to think the track covers will be required, maybe under his rock, but the forecast looks reasonable right through to Saturday night. https://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/26558191 point

To be fair to Chapman doing what he has done has meant BT stay involved and the Sport still has a 'top league'... One big league may one day manifest itself but currently there are either not enough riders to do it of the required level, or there may be enough riders for say, five man teams, but then there wouldn't be enough meetings for them to make the money they need out of the sport.. Hence two pro leagues keeps these riders with two jobs and therefore justifying their outlay.. Something I am sure Buster knew needed to happen in the short term, before maybe embarking on a longer term strategy.. He also knew that clubs needed to start lowering their outlay on riders, something he can now control in three clubs at least, and even if all finish bottom three, the best of them will be fifth, just outside the play offs, and the second of them will have only been two places away from the play offs so not a bad season overall....!!! Taking the race to the bottom re salaries out of the equation is a major plus point if he can do it... Winning any of British Speedway Comps is pretty much of no real value from either the recognition kudos or the financial rewards available, so a period of lowering outlay and bringing some stability might just be what the Sport needs to evolve its operating model and business plan into something more fit for purpose....? Which may one day deliver recognition kudos and financial rewards..1 point

In the race format for supporters cup, am I right in think 4&5 ride as a pair and the no.3 with the reserves?1 point

Buster should pull the plug at Peterbro' now and let the moaners stew But then there will be no Speedway this year or any year . Which will be unfair on the true supporters1 point
-
Agree but you have to put yourself in a P’boro supporters shoes....strong and exciting team announced with Harris and Cook spearheading and by the first meeting they are both gone and not adequately replaced. Also Buster was never really wanted by those supporters for various understandable reasons. Can’t blame people for being disillusioned. Need to see who they can come up with to replace Cook though. Wouldn’t necessarily rule out him signing in the end, anything possible. People feel let down at the moment but if / when they get a home win or two with some good racing it will make a big difference. I’m sure an Easter Monday victory would go down well1 point

Arne Pander is a prime candidate for this one! It should also be pointed out that it wasn't just the injuries, but also his decision to prioritise riding in Britain, which didn't go down well with the Danish authorities. Arne took out British citizenship and entered the British qualifying rounds in 1966, having missed out in a few key seasons in the meantime.1 point

Paco and Tobias both on the pace last night and both winning races on their B'ham debuts respectively. I was impressed by the fact that Tobias wasn't afraid to try different lines and to mix it with the opposition. A well run meeting and some very fair/competitive races....'no risks' taken (apart from Tobias ) Zach/Ullrich looked a little off the pace at times.....Wolves were 'superior' from the gate and that was the main difference!1 point

Dave Aldana who was something of a legend due to being one of the stars of On Any Sunday (if you've not seen it get a copy if you've any interest in motorcycles other than Speedway. Very dated now but still the best motorcycle film ever made) an AMA Champion and also known over here for his Road Racing as part of the Transatlantic series has ridden flat track in the UK several times. Last appearance was at the MCN show at Peterborough last May and he did do the meeting at Oxford that you refer to I believe as well as at least one other. Really nice guy remembered for his skeleton leathers and still, in his mid 60's, a very decent rider. We've had other American Flat Track stars ride at DTRA meetings as well including another former Champion Chris Carr, Johnny Lewis and James Rispoli. 3 years ago we had former World Superbike Champion, Moto GP rider and current MotoGP commentator Colin Edwards racing my Yamaha at Peterborough as well. American Flat track is changing but like Speedway has a long way to go to be anything like as popular as it was decades ago. The changes are well received by some but much criticised by others as is the way with these things. The company doing the promotion did revive Nascar to a large extent so hopefully will have the same success in the long term. Anybody interested can watch the American Championship events live on https://www.fanschoice.tv/ and keep up with results via https://www.americanflattrack.com/ Keep an eye out for young Oliver Brindley who is a British lad working hard to make it at the highest level of the sport after learning the basics here. He rides in the singles class and so far has been right up there with the best of them this season. Unlucky to fall on the last corner while leading his semi final at Daytona he started on the back row for the final and worked his way up to 9th having been the fastest qualifier and winning his heat. he followed that up with a good fourth at the second round and now stands equal 5th in the Championship.1 point

Interesting that Ipswich couldn't put a 1-7 together until Peterborough "released" a rider, with better gates at Foxhall you wouldn't want to start with a crap side, makes some sense to me.1 point

Just repeating what was said by someone else. What was said seems to be what exactly happened. Would be one hell of a coincidence if it ain't true don't you think? Buster takes over, rider's gone before a wheel turned.1 point

The poll opens after heat 10 and closes after heat 13 and there’s no counting as Twitter keeps score automatically so I don’t think there will be any ‘standing around’. No reason why it shouldn’t all happen within the normal flow of the meeting.1 point

A very fair and accurate response to my post. It would have been easy to reply wearing rose tinted glasses. The racing was far better in the Len Silver era, it was never the same when Crayford moved in there. The season as the London Lions were a disaster. £10 admission for poor viewing and a poor track. A sad end to a once great venue.1 point

Would prefer the team managers to decide who goes out in 14 and 15 providing once the choice is made it cannot be changed.1 point

What I saw was Pawlicki go tight under nicki on the home straight, then Pawlicki take Nicki to the boards on back straight. Nicki then just eases him wide, hard to tell whether there was any contact there.1 point
