  1. Can I say that you are all entitled to your opinion of dogs and their owners treatment of them? All I would say about my attendance at speedway meetings with my faithful friend is this. I am a responsible owner. Lenny remains on a lead at all times at meetings. Should he disgrace himself (God forbid) I always (N.B. ALWAYS) pick up. And he doesn't bark or detract from the entertainment in any way. The only time that other fans take note of his presence is to come and say hello and enjoy his happy response to their attention. He, therefore, in my opinion, only adds to the occasion and in no way upsets anyone or imposes his attentions on anyone. If it were in any way different I would not bring him. I make no apology for wanting to bring Lenny to meetings and we both enjoy each other's company. The way our adopted team is going this season, if I choose to stay away I think Lenny would leave me at home. Lenny's a nicer bloke than some so called fans that I've met and he is certainly better behaved than a small minority of children at meetings I've been to. Lenny is a light brown Greyhound cross. I'm conspicuous by my Bees coat and hat. Feel free to come and meet us at meetings at any time and debate the wisdom of my bringing him with me.

  3. Happy enough with that - shame we couldnt squeeze out another point to send the Stars home empty handed but you cant have everything This team is built to do just what it did today - every week you are likely to have 1 or 2 not score so well but another will step up This week take a bow Barry

  5. At least Doyley seems to be in good spirits.

  6. I'm guessing you never saw the replay showing it from behind. Zagar rode straight into Doyle and caused the accident. Just because something happens on the first bend it doesn't always mean nobody has caused it,

  8. Pleased with this nice tight scoreline, stops the cheats fudging the averages and making 17 changes.

  9. Good day for Barry,,,, let's keep it going. A typical daytime meeting with the track drying very quick. A win is a win.

  10. Sorry I thought it was always the best prepared race track in the UK?! Can't have been Poole riders asking for it to be watered as they never like track watering once the meeting is well underway!!

  11. Jedd List looking very fast after the meeting, albeit racing alone. I would try and fit him in if we can.

  12. My Border Collie Lucy doesn't need dragging as she actually waits by the door when I'm going to Beaumont Park and before that Coventry since she was 9 weeks old. To answer your question ~ in my case company on the journey to Brandon and I would feel safer with a dog with me if the car broke down. Same reason for Leicester, also it's quite a trek back to the shopping centre car park in the dark. I really don't know why you find it such a problem if people have a dog with them as owners obviously wouldn't if they were distressed or annoying to other fans. Everyone knows Lucy and she gets lots of fuss, then when the match starts she just goes to sleep.

  13. Ht 2 Heeps definitely took Andersen's front wheel as he attempted the pass. Unbiased view from a youth parent. Stood by the gate on to the track near the first bend.

  14. Very much so - one where you see what you want to see at the time on both sides Would be an interesting one to see a replay of in the cold light of day

  22. Harris needs to swallow his pride and take a break to get his hand stronger, letting us down at the moment. everyone did well enough, well done bellego much more confident performance on a different engine. king looked considerably quicker on Heeps bike practising briefly after the meeting - his practise start on back straight seemed to drive a lot better than those during the meeting on his own bike. Hopefully can get his gear going better sooner rather than later! Heeps shouldn’t of been excluded in reserve race imo - he’d passed Andersen who then turned onto him causing his own fall

  23. Said in the pre season predictions that this Aces line up didn’t convince me and I’m still of that opinion. They are going to be in a scrap for fourth without changes.

  24. Possibly a perfect result for Buster all round? An attendance of around 4000 with a home win to keep more of them coming back and the Stars still getting a point.....

  26. After 8 heats and 16 pts in front, I truly expected a score similar to the match at Poole, Poole had different ideas and found their gating boots. Great comeback so well done to Poole, but for me the real winner was speedway, racing like that is what it's all about, yes they did water too much, but that goes for both teams.Totally agree with others about Wells and Berge, problem is who could we replace them with.

  29. Wasn't there so hard to comment on specifics but have seen a few clips of the racing and also some of the comments on social media about the size of the crowd at Arlington (again) and the number of kids attending. Coming from NL with Brummies as Eastbourne have, I think most hardcore speedway fans want close competitive racing and last heat deciders and not runaway wins and nothing brings newcomers back more than excitement; incidents and dare I say crashes. Winning 60 points every week like Eastbourne have for years must get boring and this loss will come as a shock to some. Enjoy it embrace it we used to say "happiness is 40-38" well 45 - 44 sounds as good as it gets to me and if a big crowd there to enjoy it so much the better. I wish we could have some of the commercial and marketing excellence that Eastbourne seem to have found at Perry Barr, no disrespect to anyone at PB but we need more supporters coming in and more enthusiasm and innovation. Well done Leicester though I can't see anyone else winning there and they are also losing riders but finding a way round it and no doubt down to the outstanding man manager they have bought in from Glasgow.

  30. I felt Zagar was particularly tough, he was looking at Doyle too, knew exactly what he was doing and must've known he would come down, guess he didn't realise the other rider was there but it was always a possibility. Maybe Doyle and him have had some previous .....

  31. Honestly I hoped you mopped it up... or if that's all it takes to get you an George canned it was a cheap night... good craic and enjoyed the company... apart from George coming back wid a cider instead of a bitter... yuk... nice to chat with wee Dorothy as well... good meeting although we lost and how costly were Stevie Worrall's engine gremlins in Heat 13.... never mind could have been oh so different... Oh and just to add I find it hard to believe when you told me that Gazc has such gender issues as he comes across so manly in his posts... he must have been the first publican ever in Glasgow to wear a frock... brave man... xxx Regards THJ

  32. Guide and other working dogs are certainly not pointless, the pet ones to me are. I haven't a problem with people who like dogs, that isn't what I said. It was a genuine question as to why the need to drag them along to speedway?

  35. I don't know the in's and out 's of that. As a stat nerd, Rohan averaged 4.67 tonight. But before you jump on me, I thought he did okay. Charles Wright is a rider I've rated for a while and paid 18 is outstanding. BWD just does what BWD does; he surprises you. Analyse this properly. Peterborough scored 14 paid 15 from reserve against Swindon's 4 paid 6. Peterborough scored 8 from their RR number 2. You can't look further than the No.1 to see why you mathematically lost this meeting. And again, don't leap on me. Hans obviously had his mechanical problems. Having said that, I'm not sure about heat 13. He may have been having problems but he clearly released the clutch lever and hit the tapes as a result.

  36. Reading on the speedway updates site suggests that Kent have 2 hours track time per week from the start of heat one on a Monday regardless of the start time. Unless Kent can manage to race 15 heats in under hours the sport surely has a limited future at the venue? Delays in completing meetings in a timely manner threatens the continuing existence of the sport at Kent IMO. At National League level seems 2 hours isn’t enough time for 15 heats at Kent. Whilst I would share Richard Weston’s thoughts about the track being to blame.....seems most of the fallers were home riders who should know how to ride their own track ? With the charges for admission rivalling those of the PL maybe Kent should invest in greater depth of medical cover to reduce the frequent delays for rider medical treatment?

  43. I've never had a problem with dogs at speedway. Met quite a few over the years and without exception they were well behaved, friendly when approached and the owners had them completely uinder control Some parents could do well to take lessons on their charges behaviour from the dog owners.

  48. Couldn’t disagree with a post more, what sort of ambition is that? What would you prefer Someone scoring 12 from 5 at home in 55-35 wins and 0 from 3 away in 49-41 defeats Or Someone scoring 7 from 4 at home in 50-40 wins and 5 from 4 away in 46-44 wins? I know what gets you more league points and trophies. You’re still winning on a weekly basis at home?

  49. It seems that GA and myself are being "challenged" to respond to the earlier post, si can I say that I am not and never have been, involved in any way in the administration or the operation of the Birmingham forum. I am a regular poster on this, but nothing more. I have no problem at all with anyone having differing opinions to myself - or in them airing them! I do know the people who run the forum though. They are genuine, fair-minded people and have never banned anyone for their views - only when their comments are either offensive or personal - and this seems to be the norm with all club's supporters' forums. The Brummies performance last Wednesday was deplorable - it doesn't require an expect to recognise that, and it is also clear that much better performances will be required if the team is to make any impression at all this season. Having said this though, we have had, discounting the opening meeting with Wolverhampton, which none of us expected to win, two home meetings, both against what I feel are a couple of the League's stronger clubs, one of which produced a narrow defeat from what the majority of supporters agree was a creditable effort, and one pretty awful showing last Wednesday, so it is hardly fair to rubbish the whole team on the strength of just two matches? Personally, I think the make up of our team is very fragile and that we will need all seven of our team to at least ride to form if we are going to register a few wins, but I'm prepared to give all the riders a reasonable chance so whilst there will be a few ready to throw in the towel after two meetings, I hope the majority will do likewise. If that's "blinkered" or "towing the management line" then so be it!

  50. James has proved that is is a very talented motorcyclist, what he lacks is a proven "Speedway" mentor to fine tune his riding technique.
