To be fair I think their is good argument for a minimum of 5 to be applied for all new foreign riders.4 points

What does it matter? If a load of Poles come along making it viable so that British fans can have a good day out watching the worlds top riders I'd call that a result2 points

As I see it the reason is simple, our riders haven't been good enough away from the AFA. While it's great to have "Application, attitude and passion", does it have "far greater importance to the value of a riders impact for the team"? It will only get you so far imho. You could put a Championship side into the Prem, and they won't win anything with all the application, attitude and passion in the world..2 points

Adonis is talking bullocks, but then, looking at his avatar of Yaxley_Lennon, what can you expect ?! Its a good read, and definitely not full of "I am better than everyone else" ! My advice would be buy it, see what you think, you can always sell it on Ebay, Gumtrre, etc....2 points

Richard is the big loser here as will lose a nights wage, whichever way. if he has to ride for ippo then Eastbourne fans are the losers in not seeing their best rider over the season not being able to race the last home match of the season.1 point

I went to Warsaw this year, had an really nice weekend. Meals and drinks were really reasonably priced, plenty of places to eat and drink. The most stressful part was buying the tickets.1 point

If Thorsell brings his Swedish playoff form it's Swindon in the final for sure.1 point

Didn't anyone think of telling Patryk Dudek that it's the Final this week?1 point

So true. This is the first time in 30 years a team have won 3 years in a row and the first time since the post season cup was introduced.1 point

Game over... Every season there appears to be no point in going to watch Smederna till they reach the play offs..1 point

So it seems as though there will be a 'top' league of x clubs next season. With the likes of Terry Russell wanting to keep Jason Doyle in an 8 team league it begs the question about how many 8+ point riders will be allowed in the team building and to what team points limit? Swindon, Belle Vue and Kings Lynn may well have some serious decisions to make with their Number 1s.1 point

Taking the rule as written, it would not be in Eastbourne's gift to be 'honourable' and 'let him [Lawson] ride for Ipswich'. Art 16.1.1 Priority will be given to riders participating in the SGB Premiership League on Mondays and Thursdays. Priority will be given to riders participating in the SGB Championship League on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.1 point

Bold move as the status of the leagues above is largely unknown at present and feels like a last roll of the dice for the current promotion.1 point

It's the final round of the U21 World Championship on the Friday night in Pardubice - I assume that's why the wildcard/reserves are erm odd. I assume Miedzinski will be unleashed upon anyone who threatens Zmarzlik's title1 point

Miskowiak is the current (surprise) U21 Polish Champion, although totally out of shape in recent weeks. Still, I can see why he'd be picked as a reward for winning the title. Zupinski? One of the many reasonably talented Polish youngsters. Gdansk is not very far from Torun, maybe that's what they looked at. Miedzinski is a bad joke in every aspect. Not picking Kubera who's the World U21 Championship leader blows my mind.1 point

It's shown live here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R2duNmUDO94 DMPJ stands for "Druzynowe Mistrzostwa Polski Juniorow", so "Polish Team U21 Championships". It should be interesting, with no clear favourites in my opinion. Grudziadz, Czestochowa and Zielona Gora have three decent riders, while Lublin and Gorzow have two potential high-scorers.1 point

I totally agree with you, particularly for any newcomers. Even those who have failed to reach the 4 or 5 assessed average they should only be allowed back on their assessed average.1 point

Yes if Wolves would like to swap Douglas for THJ then I am sure we could be accommodating!1 point

He was guesting for Peterborough against Swindon when he scored 18 + 1.1 point

Excellent result by Smerderna last night, but nothing wn yet and we need score those required 37 points as fast as possible, so focus is the key factor tonight's meeting for a hat-trick of league titles.1 point

It was late Frederik Jakobsen is who I meant, he is the Dane who was at Poole last year isn't he? There was a Frederik Eriksson once, was there not?1 point
-
I've only seen him at Redcar and he must have been rolling in every heat, because he always seems to enter first corner in lead!! Can't think of any other reason than rolling Whereas our rider Erik Riss also usually gets to the first bend ahead, but of course he is just a good gater and never rolls!!1 point

IT probably did but there was no third party involved. The FIM determined which countries would stage a World Final and when. But like other motorcycle disciplines (Moto GP, etc) the commercial rights were later sold and the FIM banked the money.1 point

I am probably wrong, but seem to remember something about British speedway getting a share of any profit from Wembley world finals ?1 point

If I remember rightly, he pulled the wheelie crossing the finish line, in the lead, at the end off the race and fell just beyond the line. But we remember his time at Coventry for a lot more than that. A true professional and ambassador for the sport.1 point

Yes there are alot of positive's and this meeting is great for speedway but i don't hear two many moans on this thread most of the points raised are valid.1 point

This is a mandatory standard on all Swedish tracks.1 point

This thread shows just how out of touch some members of this forum are. All they can do is moan, moan, moan. Every year you get the same folks whinging about the racing. Every year you get the same folks declaring how they don't go to Cardiff and most people they know don't.. Yet every year we get a crowd of nigh on 40,000 which no other stadium can even dream of obtaining, let alone having the capacity to do so.1 point

Agreed with both. The calibre of people running the show = Buster Godfrey & Co are tbh useless. They couldn’t run a bath. They have proved to be totally incompetent. And before someone says that’s harsh take a look at the state of our sport. It’s completely knackered. Anyone who is anyone wouldn’t touch Speedway with a 20’ barge pole. More pain to come for fans and clubs that’s for sure.1 point

The sport (in the UK), is now no more than a conduit for riders to earn the kind of money that justifies their outlay on kit... A system devised to provide as many rides as possible for individuals, with scant regards to the impact this has on any credible status of each league or the teams within them.. It won't change now I would suggest, as it cannot given how long this situation has been allowed to fester.. Basically riders riding for whoever, whenever, is an integral part of the business plan, and operating model, which then facilitates their participation in the sport in the UK.. Too many teams? Not enough riders? Either way, that scenario isn't going to be fixed anytime soon unless they try six or even five man teams initially to give themselves some head room to deliver a much more fit for purpose longer term plan.. No breath is being held waiting for that to happen I would suspect..1 point

Gone way beyond that. No-one truly professional would take it on, having looked closely at it as a project.1 point

It is however , better than any other toilet roll by far . It promises to show lesser toilet rolls the way to be the best at cleaning your arse . how to flush away more easily . but never actually does . best of all though , comes covered in loads of different patterns . thats why it's too expensive for the UK market , and only available in Poland ,1 point

I spend my money where its needed............BRITISH Speedway. I dont go to Cardiff anymore. Overpriced in every way. I remember the time that when you bought a ticket, you got a programme included. The following year they advertised 'no price rises for tickets'. Yet those tickets DIDNT include a programme. So the actual price did go up! I refused to pay and have not been since. The money I would need to spend to get there, travel, ticket, programme, food etc, I save and give out as sponsorship to a NL rider. I also go round the Country watching and have been to the majority of tracks this season. Still hoping to do more with the Play Offs etc. I want British Speedway to gain revenue, not the Corporate moguls.1 point

What was it that was once said by Woffy every other teams manager takes them out to a nice restaurant on a strict dietary regime then you got Rosco takes GB to a kebab house.1 point
